Auburn WR target Ny Carr announces commitment to ACC program

Atleast he won’t be playing for Georgia.

Auburn was one of the schools recruiting four-star wide receiver [autotag]Ny Carr[/autotag] the hardest but the Tigers were unable to land the former Georgia Bulldog commit.

Carr will instead be taking his talents to Miami to play for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes he announced Sunday on social media.

He is the No. 53 overall player and No. 11 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 9 player from Georgia.

The Moultrie, Georgia native committed to the Bulldogs back in July 2022 but Auburn never stopped recruiting him and he took multiple visits to the Plains before decommitting on Sept. 24. He returned to Auburn on Sept. 30 to watch Auburn play Georgia and it looked like they were in a great place to land him.

That didn’t happen as the 5-foot-11, 168-pounder then made a visit to Miami this past weekend and committed to them over Auburn and others.

While Auburn certainly wanted to land Carr, they have already built an impressive wide receiver class that includes five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and four-star prospects [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag].

Key Auburn WR target Ny Carr decommits from Georgia

Can Hugh Freeze and Co. pull off another flip?

One of Auburn’s top targets is back on the open market.

Four-star wide receiver [autotag]Ny Carr[/autotag] had been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs since July 2022 but on Sunday he announced he was decommitting from the Bulldogs. This could be good news for Auburn as they have kept recruiting him and he visited for Big Cat Weekend in July.

Carr is the No. 53 overall player and No. 11 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite ranking. The Moultrie product is also the No. 9 player from Georgia.

He would be another great addition to what is a loaded class at wide receiver, potentially joining five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and four-stars [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag]. With Auburn’s wide receivers struggling to make an impact to start the season, wide receivers coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] is looking to bring in a big class.

Auburn isn’t the only school that is making a push for Carr, Florida State and Miami are both looking to lure him out of the Peach State.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder has had a strong start to his senior season, catching 30 passes for 489 yards and nine touchdowns in four games for Colquitt County.

Tracking the Tigers: Where Auburn’s commits will play in Week 4

A matchup between Perry Thompson and Bryce Cain highlights this week’s matchups.

It is nearly time for another slate of high school football games and several Auburn commits have some exciting matchups.

The top game will be the showdown between wide receiver commits [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag]. Cain and Baker are traveling to Foley with a 3-0 record and looking to keep their offense humming.

All but three of Auburn’s commits had games this week with only [autotag] DeAndre Cater[/autotag] (Mater Dei) and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag] (Benjamin Russell) having byes. Cornerback commit [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] is set to miss some time after announcing on Thursday that he underwent surgery for a dislocated knee cap.

Two of Auburn’s commits suited up on Thursday instead of on Friday and went 1-1. [autotag]Kensley Fasutin[/autotag] and Naples suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 3-1. [autotag]Dimitry Nicolas[/autotag] and Norlan improved to 4-0 with a 42-7 win over Monsignor Pace. Stats for both games have not been released yet.

Here is a look at where the rest of Auburn’s commits will be playing this week.

Tracking the Tigers: Where Auburn’s commits will play this week

Here is where all the future Tigers will be playing this week.

It is time for another week of high school football and once again most of Auburn’s commits will be taking the field.

With the addition of offensive lineman [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag] to the recruiting class, Auburn now boasts 18 commits, 17 of whom who were in action this week.

The only exception is [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag], who is enjoying a bye after leading Jonesboro High School to a 2-1 start to the season. Quarterback commit [autotag]Walker White[/autotag] and Little Rock Christian played on Thursday night, picking up a 42-14 victory to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Here is a look at where the rest of Auburn’s commits will be playing this week.

Auburn offers elite 2025 WR Cortez Mills

He is one of the top players in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Auburn’s recruiting has kicked it up several notches under [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Tigers are looking to keep the momentum going.

While it’s the 2024 class that has gotten the attention, Auburn’s coaches are starting to work on the 2025 cycle and on Friday they offered [autotag]Cortez Mills[/autotag], one of the top wide receivers in the country.

Mills is from Homestead, Florida, and already has over two dozen offers and more are surely on the way for the talented pass catcher. He is the No. 98 overall player and No. 16 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 19 player from the Sunshine State.

Making the jump from the Sun Belt to the SEC, Auburn wide receiver coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] has proven he can recruit at the highest level and Mills would be another big get. He has already flipped five-star wide receiver [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] from Alabama and landed four-star targets [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag], all in less than one year on the job.

The Tigers currently have one commit in their 2025 class, four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag].

Auburn named a ‘recruiting winner’ for the month of July

The month of July was an exciting one as far as recruiting goes.

There were few teams across the country that had a more enjoyable month in the world of recruiting than the Auburn Tigers had in the month of July.

Hugh Freeze landed six talented pieces from the 2024 cycle to his recruiting class, which was headlined by flips by five-stars [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag] and [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag]. Because of the Tigers’ success on the recruiting trail in July, On3 placed them in a group filled with July recruiting “winners.”

Auburn joins several big-name programs such as Ohio State, Georgia, and Tennessee as winners for the month. On3’s Keegan Pope acknowledges that Hugh Freeze is doing what he does best.

Among the biggest reasons for bringing Hugh Freeze to Auburn was his ability to stockpile talent. He has done so through the transfer portal this offseason, but what he’s done on the recruiting trail has been even more impressive. In the span of just a few days, Freeze flipped not one, but two five-stars committed to Georgia and Alabama. He started last week by beating out Nick Saban to flip UGA linebacker commit Demarcus Riddick and beat Saban again a few days later by flipping wideout Perry Thompson.

Outside of Riddick and Thompson, Auburn added wide receiver [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag], linebacker [autotag]D’Angelo Barber[/autotag], defensive lineman [autotag]Malik Blocton[/autotag], and cornerback [autotag]Jayln Crawford[/autotag] to his recruiting class during the month of July.

Auburn surging for elite offensive lineman DeAndre Carter

The Tiger are looking to keep the momentum rolling from Big Cat Weekend with one of the top offensive lineman in the country.

The Auburn Tigers are red-hot on the recruiting trail and are coming off of the best weeks in program history.

The Tigers landed two five-star prospects in wide receiver [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and linebacker [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag] as well as four-star wide receiver [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag]. Making it even sweeter, the Tigers flipped Thompson and Riddick from Alabama and Georgia, respectively.

Their additions give Auburn 14 commitments in its 2024 recruiting class, which now ranks 17th in the country and has one of the best average player ratings in the country according to the 247Sports Composite. However, the class is still lacking in one key area: the offensive line, where Auburn has yet to land a commitment.

That may be changing soon as the Tigers have emerged as the favorite to land [autotag]DeAndre Carter[/autotag], one of the best linemen in the country. The four-star prospect made the trek all the way from California to attend Big Cat Weekend and it did not disappoint.

“I love everything,” Carter told AuburnUndercovers Jason Caldwell. “Probably the thing that stands out more than the other is just the family atmosphere. A lot of colleges say they’ve got it, but I definitely feel it a lot here.”

In fact, the visit went so well that Caldwell and three of his associates at 247Sports submitted crystal ball predictions for Carter to join Auburn’s recruiting class.

Carter is the No. 90 overall prospect and No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 13 player from California.

While he is listed as an interior player, Auburn and offensive line coach [autotag]Jake Thornton[/autotag] believe the 6-foot-4, 340-pounder can also play tackle and have been recruiting him as both a guard and a tackle.

The aftermath: 2024 SEC recruiting rankings following Big Cat Weekend

The Auburn Tigers are among the nation’s biggest movers following a successful weekend.

What a weekend it was on the Plains.

Big Cat Weekend has officially wrapped up, and it was one of the most successful events in recent memory. Auburn made a great impression on several recruits, as many have now placed the Tigers high on their radar.

In even better news, two talented wide receivers announced their commitment to Auburn. Five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] flipped his pledge from Alabama, and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag] elected to stay close to home with his commitment.

Those two talented additions go hand-in-hand with five-star [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag], who flipped from Georgia to Auburn ahead of Big Cat Weekend.

How much has Auburn climbed in the recruiting rankings following their successful week? The answer is quite a lot. Two weeks ago following the commitment of four-star defensive back [autotag]Jayln Crawford[/autotag], the Tigers were No. 37 overall in 247Sports’ 2024 recruiting rankings. Now? The Tigers are in the top 25.

Here’s a look at the updated SEC recruiting rankings from 247Sports as the calendar flips to August.

Auburn makes late push for KJ Bolden at Big Cat Weekend

Can Auburn lock in their third five-star of the 2024 recruiting cycle?

Auburn has gained significant recruiting momentum the last two weeks by landing several of the nation’s top names from the 2024 recruiting class.

During Big Cat Weekend, the Tigers snagged two wide receivers: four-star [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag] and five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag], who flipped to Auburn from Alabama.

Despite the exciting haul, [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and his staff are not satisfied. They are making a late push for five-star safety [autotag]KJ Bolden[/autotag]. Bolden is set to announce his commitment next Saturday and spent his final weekend ahead of the announcement by visiting Auburn for Big Cat Weekend.

The visit was successful; Bolden almost pledged a week early.

“The way that coach (Hugh) Freeze just gave me that great talk in the office, he definitely almost had me commit today,” Bolden told Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover.

Bolden will have a week to think things over. He will choose among  Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT on On3’s YouTube channel. He shared his thoughts on Auburn with On3’s Chad Simmons after releasing his top schools last week.

“I’m definitely very interested in Auburn. Coach Freeze, I told him when I went up there, ‘Coach I’ve got to see if you can get an OV, I’m not sure yet.’ And he said if you give me an OV, just make sure it’s the last one. That’s how he makes things shake for sure, and I made sure he got that last OV. Freeze and his staff have made Bolden one of their top priorities since they took over, even as other national programs are in pursuit and have been for some time They just really stay communicated, and I knew Auburn was really interested when coaches at my school were talking about Auburn and how badly they want me. When I got down there, the family environment was like no other.

Bolden is the No. 1 safety in the nation for the 2024 recruiting class and the No. 3 prospect from the state of Georgia. As it stands a week out from his commitment date, Georgia is the favorite with four crystal ball predictions from 247Sports. On3 gives Georgia a 44.1% chance to land his commitment.

Freeze has swayed one prospect away from Georgia in [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag] this cycle, can he do it again with Bolden?

Social media reacts to Auburn flipping 5-star WR Perry Thompson from Alabama

It’s safe to say that Big Cat Weekend has been a succes.

There is not another team in the country hotter than the Auburn Tigers on the recruiting trail.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Co. just pulled off one of the biggest recruiting wins in the program’s history, flipping five-star wide receiver Perry Thompson from Alabama. He is the second recruit Auburn landed during Big Cat Weekend and the third in the past four days.

Fellow five-star [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag] started the wave on Wednesday, flipping from Georgia, and four-star wide receiver [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag] committed to Auburn earlier Saturday afternoon.

With the three commitments, Auburn has the No. 17 recruiting class on the 247Sports composite and is one of seven programs to have multiple five-star commitments. It’s average player rating of 91.85 is the fifth best in the country.

The Auburn fans, who were already fired up about landing Simmons, were ecstatic to learn about Thompson picking Auburn and took to social media to celebrate, here are their top reactions.
