ESPN shares feature on Duke basketball fan who attended UNC game for Make-A-Wish Foundation

ESPN released a feature on Tuesday showing Duke basketball fan Bradee Vance meeting the team and attending a rivalry game against UNC.

Countless people across the United States consider themselves die-hard Duke basketball fans, but few can measure up to West Virginia teenager Bradee Vance. Earlier this year, Vance experienced a one-of-a-kind Blue Devils journey to commemorate that fandom.

ESPN released a feature on Tuesday about Vance, a high schooler who was diagnosed with Alport syndrome at age 13. The disease, which attacks blood vessels in the kidney, required a transplant back in 2022. His aunt provided one of her kidneys for the replacement.

After the successful operation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation took Vance and his family to see the Blue Devils play North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium earlier this spring. Vance and his family got to walk onto the court and sit in the team meeting rooms the night before the rivalry game, and head coach [autotag]Jon Scheyer[/autotag] embraced Vance and talked with him.

During a meeting with the team, senior captain Jeremy Roach presented Vance with a custom-made Blue Devils jersey bearing his last name.

He and his family also spent some time with five-time national champion [autotag]Mike Krzyzewski[/autotag] during the day of the game.

Duke fans can watch the full feature down below, an incredibly well-made tribute to his family and their journey.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was featured on SportsCenter Monday, but not for his athletic ability this time.

Chase granted the wish of six-year-old Brixton Woods through the Make-A-Wish Foundation by bringing him to Cincinnati to show him around the stadium and hit the griddy with his favorite player.

“This really touched me. Appreciate Brixton and his family,” Chase said on Twitter after it aired.

While in the hospital, Brixton’s parents decorated his room with Bengals furniture and memorabilia so he could feel more at home while he was going through treatment and watching Cincinnati play.

Brixton is in remission from leukemia and can now say he scored a 99-yard touchdown in Paycor Stadium on a pass thrown from Chase himself.

Star Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is granting wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

An episode of “My Wish” on ESPN will feature Chase and the Bengals granting the wish of Brixton Wood on Monday, July 17 at 6 p.m. ET on SportsCenter.

Here’s what to expect:

The orange and black of the Cincinnati Bengals adorned Brixton Wood’s room while he was going through cancer treatments last winter. Now that he’s in remission, the six-year-old from Georgetown, Tex., gets to spend a day with his favorite team and do “The Griddy” with star wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase.

Different versions of the videos will also be featured on ESPN social media platforms.

The Bengals were able to team up with Make-A-Wish to grant six wishes in 2022, and this will be their first of 2023.
