Two UCLA commits transfer to same high school

High school transfer news!

Even before playing a single snap of college football, a pair of recent UCLA commits have entered the transfer portal.

Former Warren High School class of 2025 teammates, quarterback Madden Iamaleava, and wide receiver Jace Brown are on the move to Long Beach Poly, according to John W. Davis of the Press-Telegram (subscription required). The move comes after the two future UCLA Bruins did not play in Warren’s Week 1 opener and turning some heads in the high school football community.

Since becoming starters, Iamaleava and Brown have been attached at the hip, being a dynamic passing-game threat throughout their time at Warren. Now with the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, the pair of four-star future Bruins look to continue their success on the field for a different program.

With both Iamaleava and Brown already committed to UCLA, their decision to transfer likely makes little to no impact on their future. But what is clear is that the two have a bond that will carry over to Westwood when they take the field in 2025 for the Bruins.

Pair of UCLA recruits potentially on the move in high school football

This is interesting…

Jace Brown and Madden Iamaleava are no longer on the roster of Warren High School. Both UCLA commits played for the school, and started the summer practices with them, but did not play in the Week 1 loss.

Warren High School, in Downey California features Brown, who is a 6’4, 200lbs receiver, who received interest from Arizona, Notre Dame, Colorado State, and many more. Brown committed to the Bruins following his June 21st visit to campus.

The school also was the home of quarterback Madden Iamaleava. The 6’3, 185 quarterback is a four-star recruit, who also was getting interest from Arizona, Auburn, California, and numerous other big programs in the country. He committed first, after his visit on May 17th.

There is no immediate word as to where to two are heading. Warren lost the game to Serra 36-0 on Friday. Warren was one of the favorites to win the CIF-SS title this season.

UCLA commits Madden Iamaleava and Jace Brown listed as captains

Both Madden Iamaleava and Jace Brown are listed as captains for the upcoming season as Warren High gets ready to complete.

Great news for a pair of UCLA Bruins football commits, as both Madden Iamaleava and Jace Brown are listed as captains for the 2024 season. Both play at Warren High.

Iamaleava is a 6’3, 185lbs signal caller who was the 8th ranked recruit in the state of California and 114th player overall. He was recruited by numerous schools throughout the country. Following his visit on May 17th, he committed to Coach Foster and the Bruins. Iamaleava is a big-time dual-threat player, but his arm is his best strength. He has been noted to scouts as a very tough and competitive player.

Jace Brown was listed as an 88 ranking and 57th recruit in California. He visited on June 21 and shortly committed after. He also had numerous schools on his recruiting list. He is known for having good hands, and at 6’4, 200 quick and explosive for his body. Brown is a player many scouts target as a potential tight end.

Warren High School had their first scrimmage over the weekend. They are slated to start the season on August 23rd against Kamehameha Kapalama at home.

UCLA offers full-scholarship to tight end commit

Scholarships are being handed out!

UCLA’s scholarship class is finally taking shape for the 2025 recruiting class.

The Bruins offered committed tight end Noah Flores a full scholarship this week, following his commitment back in May. The three-star tight end is the third-ranked tight end in Washington, according to 247Sports.

At 6′ 4″ and 240 pounds, Flores is the ideal size for UCLA’s scheme, bringing size and agility to the offense. The 2025 Graham-Kapowsin High School product looks to impact the Bruins varied offense after this season. With still another year of high school football to play, the upside for Flores is that he can continue to grow and develop into an even better player.

The 2025 Bruins offense is already shaping up to be one of the best in recent years. With four-star quarterback Madden Iamaleava slated to be the program’s future starter, surrounding him with bought-in and talented players is the pathway to success for UCLA.

Add to that offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and the Bruins could be looking at a bright future ahead in Westwood.

UCLA offers three-star quarterback following camp

More offers from UCLA.

Following the commitment of Madden Iamaleava, the UCLA Bruins are still not done recruiting quarterbacks.

The UCLA Bruins made an offer to California native and three-star quarterback Cash Herrera this week. Herrera, from La Jolla’s Bishop School, stands at 6′ 3″ and 190 pounds. The 51st-ranked quarterback in the class of 2026, the Bruins made an offer to a local player to shore up a position of need.

Herrera, who posted on X a photo of himself with Bruins head coach DeShaun Foster, has caught the eye of fellow BIG 10 schools Iowa and Minnesota. Though Iamaleava is the projected starter for the Bruins once he arrives and is ready, the Bruins did their due diligence in recruiting Herrera.

The Bruins have made it a priority to target and recruit local talent over the last few months. For Herrera, his build offers upside to the Bruins and the potential to serve a role on the team if he develops more before his graduation. As is true for all college football teams, there is no such thing as too many quarterbacks.

UCLA commit Madden Iamaleava signs NIL deal

NIL deals coming in.

It was huge news when the UCLA Bruins football team signed four-star quarterback Madden Iamaleava. The Downey California, class of 2025 signal caller from Warren High School signed with the Bruins on May 25th, 2024. He is ranked 7th in his position and will be a bright spot for the recruiting class of 2025. He was offered from dozens of other College Football teams before signing with the Bruins.

Now, Iamaleava is part of a group of high school football athletes who have signed NIL deals. They have struck a deal with Adidas and dubbed them the
“AdiZero 7 class”.  Other guys along with Iamaleava include Tyler Atkinson, Vernell Brown III and Winston Watkins.

So far, Iamaleava is the highest-rated commit since Coach Foster took over at UCLA. Now he gets a sweet NIL deal.

UCLA offers three-star receiver and teammate of Madden Iamaleava

This could be another big get.

The Bruins made an offer to a receiver with some potential future UCLA ties. After receiving a commitment from four-star Warren High School quarterback Madden Iamaleava, the Bruins extended an offer to his high school teammate.

Jace Brown, a three-star receiver from Warren in Downey, California, is a 2025 receiver on the receiving end of loads of passes from Iamaleava. Brown, at 6′ 2″ and 190 pounds, is already a collegiate-sized receiver with special teams ability. A great punt returner and deep threat in the passing game, the connection between Brown and Iamaleava could be a great pairing at the next level for the Bruins.

Though only an offer has been extended, the Bruins likely do see great potential between the two. With an already established connection in the passing game, under offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, the Bruins could have their next big duo for the future.

With Iamaleava providing great arm strength and accuracy and Brown able to climb the ladder to haul in passes, watch out for Brown’s commitment and the two potentially playing in the future.

UCLA RB commit Karson Cox gets bump in recruiting rankings

Karson Cox also moves up the rankings.

The Bruins offense of the future is starting to shape up. This week, one of the Bruins best commitments of the year got a bump in the recruiting ranks.

Four-star running back Karson Cox is now ranked as the 32nd-best prospect in California and the 28th-best at his position. Cox, who stands at 6′ and 190 pounds, is already built for the next level in college football.

The Oak Hills High School running back from Hesperia, California, is a talented back with great explosiveness at the line of scrimmage and true break-away speed. Operating mostly from the shotgun in a spread offense, Cox’s skills will likely be in line with new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s style.

With Cox and Madden Iamaleava both committed to the Bruins in the class of 2025, the Bruins have the making of a talented offense coming down the pipe. If they can secure a few more big-name recruits this season, they could have a truly great offense in the future.

Madden Iamaleava makes massive jump in 2025 recruiting rankings

Madden Iamaleava moving up.

After committing to UCLA, the potential future-starting quarterback for the Bruins took a giant leap in the recruiting rankings. Madden Iamaleava, a four-star quarterback recruit, committed to the Bruins earlier this month.

The dual-threat quarterback jumped a whopping 73 spots on the Rivals 2025 College Football Prospect Recruit rankings. Going from 151 to 78, Iamaleava now ranks in the top 100 for the class of 2025.

The move is good for the Bruins in several ways. On top of Iamaleava getting the credit he deserves, it likely impacts the Bruins’ overall strength of recruiting class and makes Westwood a more desirable destination. Given their recent tries at recruiting other four and five-star players, Iamaleava could be a linchpin for other recruits to commit.

Despite the Bruins getting killed in rankings as of late, they have an opportunity with the 2025 recruiting class to change the narrative. Moreover, a good season for first-year head coach DeShaun Foster could continue to push the Bruins to the forefront of college football’s up-and-coming programs.

Four-star athlete Dylan Robinson sets date for UCLA visit

This is a big incoming visit.

This week, the UCLA Bruins got some good news from an all-around athlete.

Dyland Robinson, a four-star athlete recruited from La Verne, California, set a date to visit the Bruins in June. With his date set for June 21st (subscription required), the Bruins are one of four teams who Robinson will meet with within the next month.

Among the other teams Robinson will meet with, the Bruins compete with Washington, Notre Dame, and Utah. Though all the schools the Bruins compete with have star power and name recognition, given the Bruins’ recent commitment from four-star quarterback recruit Madden Iamaleava, UCLA proved that they are still able to attract top-tier California talent.

At 6′ 3″ and a shade under 200 lbs, Robinson fits the mold of several positions already. Athletic enough to play receiver, linebacker, tight end, or safety, much of the Bruins’ pitch should be angled on how they can best use Robinson’s skill. Given the number of holes on UCLA’s roster, they should have no problem pitching Robinson on playing time and potential.
