Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo somehow made up a name when listing players better than anyone on the Knicks

This was an embarrassing mistake by Russo.

After the Knicks were eliminated from the NBA’s In-Season Tournament, TNT’s Kenny Smith diagnosed the main issue with the franchise.

According to Smith, no matter who New York is playing, the Knicks will always have the second-best player on the court. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and Chris “Mad Dog” Russo discussed the topic, too, and Russo agreed with the take.

Russo argued that Julius Randle is a “decent” player and that Jalen Brunson is a “very, very good” player. But he feels that neither are “great” players and that there are other great players in the Eastern Conference.

He proceeded to list a few of the players who he considers “great” and that list included Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum, Reggie Brown and Joel Embiid.

Three of the players mentioned by Russo are indeed “great” players but it’s unclear who, exactly, he meant when he referenced Reggie Brown. There is no NBA player by that name.

Perhaps he was mixing up Boston’s Jaylen Brown with the former NFL player who was left temporarily paralyzed while making a tackle against the New York Jets in 1997.

Either way, this was an embarrassing mistake by Russo who appeared to read names directly off a paper and still couldn’t get it right.

Mad Dog would take Kirk Cousins over Lamar Jackson

The Mad Dog Chris Russo loves him some Kirk Cousins

The most polarizing two players in the NFL are arguably Kirk Cousins and Lamar Jackson. They are polarizing for different reasons and they spark a lot of talk across social media considering their talent.

Jackson is a former NFL MVP who is a truly dynamic dual-threat that has been unfairly polarizing. Each season, his passing has improved while his weapons on the outside have been relatively stagnant. The narrative that has surrounded Jackson is quite frankly unfair.

On the other side, Cousins has been a king in regard to the negotiating table. He has made so much money considering his success in the league is not expansive. Sitting at just one game over .500, Cousins’ critics largely point to his lack of success in big spots despite having a great supporting cast.

This all came to a head on First Take this morning when Stephen A. Smith and Mad Dog Chris Russo discussed who they would take in a must-win scenario with Russo preferring Cousins.

Who would you take with the season on the line: Jackson or Cousins?

WATCH: ESPN personality, Mad Dog, says Saban isn’t the greatest ever

Outrageous take from ESPN personality claims Saban isn’t greatest college football coach ever

When it comes to sports, everything is a debate. Michael Jordan or LeBron James? SEC or Big Ten? Someone will always have a different opinion. Except for who the greatest coach in college football history is. The average person will likely tell you it’s Nick Saban, by a comfortable margin. But don’t tell that to a certain TV personality over at ESPN.

ESPN analyst, Mad Dog, made the claim of the season when he said that Saban isn’t the greatest coach ever. In fact, his answer was Ara Parseghian, the legendary Notre Dame coach from 1964-1974.

During Parseghian’s tenure with the Irish, he was a remarkable 95-17-4 and won two national titles. While remarkable in his own regard, it’s a drop in the bucket compared to what Saban has done during his tenure in Tuscaloosa.
