UFC on ESPN 9 has a full lineup and location to go with its May 30 date, even if it doesn’t officially have approval from a governing body.

On Thursday, UFC president Dana White announced the event – headlined by a previously reported welterweight clash between ex-champion [autotag]Tyron Woodley[/autotag] and [autotag]Gilbert Burns[/autotag] – will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. At the moment, combat sports have yet to be reinstated in Nevada, but that is expected to happen next Wednesday during a Nevada Athletic Commission meeting.

Woodley, No. 2 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie welterweight rankings, is fighting for the first time since March 2019, when he lost the title to Kamaru Usman. No. 12 Burns, meanwhile, is riding a five-fight winning streak heading into his first UFC headliner, most recently defeating Demian Maia by TKO in March.

“This kid’s on fire right now. Him and Woodley should be fun,” White said. “… He matches up very well against Woodley. This should be a really, really fun fight.”

The UFC on ESPN 9 co-headliner pits [autotag]Blagoy Ivanov[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Augsto Sakai[/autotag] in a heavyweight fight. Also featured on the card will be jiu-jitsu ace [autotag]Mackenzie Dern[/autotag], who looks to rebound from the first loss of her career. [autotag]Kevin Holland[/autotag] also will be fighting just two weeks removed from his 39-second victory over Anthony Hernandez at UFC on ESPN 8.

The jiu-jitsu star has a strawweight bout against [autotag]Hannah Cifers[/autotag] in the works for a May 23 UFC event. The news was first reported by MMA Fighting and later confirmed by MMA Junkie’s Nolan King.

Dern (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was booked to fight at UFC Lincoln on April 25 against Ariane Carnelossi, but the bout was scrapped as the UFC was forced to cancel the card due to coronavirus restrictions. Dern last fought in October, when she suffered her first professional loss in a decision against Amanda Ribas.

Meanwhile, Cifers (10-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) will look to bounce back from a technical knockout loss to Angela Hill back in January. The defeat snapped a two-fight winning streak for the 27-year-old fighter.

Report: Mackenzie Dern returns against Ariane Carnelossi at UFC Lincoln

Mackenzie Dern returns to action when she takes on Ariane Carnelossi at UFC Lincoln.

[autotag]Mackenzie Dern[/autotag] will return to the octagon after suffering her first career blemish as a pro.

Dern (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will reportedly take on [autotag]Ariane Carnelossi[/autotag] (12-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC Lincoln on April 25, according to Brazilian outlet Combate.

Carnelossi also posted about the contest on Instagram.

After more than a year-and-a-half hiatus from the sport due to pregnancy, Dern returned to action against Amanda Ribas at this past October’s UFC on ESPN+ 19. However, Dern was outstruck over the course of three rounds, as she was unable to get the fight to the ground. She will now look to rebound, when she takes on another fellow Brazilian in Carnelossi.

Carnelossi is coming off a third-round stoppage loss to Angela Hill in her UFC debut at this past September’s UFC on ESPN+ 17 in Mexico City, which snapped her 12-fight winning streak.

The current UFC Lincoln lineup includes:

  • Anthony Smith vs. Glover Teixeira
  • Evan Dunham vs. Michael Johnson
  • Anthony Rocco Martin vs. David Zawada
  • Zak Cummings vs. Andrew Sanchez
  • Cynthia Calvillo vs. Antonina Shevchenko
  • Ariane Carnelossi vs. Mackenzie Dern
