MLB fans rip Luis Robert Jr. for not even attempting a throw on game-winning sacrifice fly

Not good.

Look, Luis Robert Jr. is a star even if he’s having a rough year, and the trade rumors about the Cuban outfielder during the Chicago White Sox’s horrible season can’t help.

But: you’ve got to show some effort.

With a tie game in the ninth inning and the Cleveland Guardians’ winning run on third, Josh Naylor hit a fly ball to Robert. Now, the ball was definitely hit far enough for the runner to score, but like running to first base, you have to show that you’re trying.

And Robert didn’t even attempt the throw. Fans weren’t too happy about that:

Luis Robert Jr. shushed Cubs fans after an ice-cold home run celebration

“Shhhhh.”

The Chicago White Sox might be terrible this year, but Luis Robert Jr. can hang on to this moment.

The slugger hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh inning in an eventual 5-3 win over the Chicago Cubs, and the moment the scorcher went off his bat, he turned around to celebrate it, before it had gone over the ivy at Wrigley Field.

What’s more: As Cubs fans reacted — including one fan who flipped him the bird — he shushed the crowd. Put it all together and you’ve got yourself one heck of a reaction.
