The line in the LSU-Florida game continues to grow

As the injury list grows, so does the line in favor of Florida.

All eyes will be on the Tigers this Saturday as LSU hosts Florida for the annual cross-divisional matchup. There is a lot on the line for both teams despite the level of disinterest surrounding the game.

As LSU stated for this series against Florida, “expect the unexpected.” Last season the home team had it all wrapped up until a thrown Kole Taylor shoe gave the Tigers new life. Cade York sent the 57-yard attempt through the uprights and onto the stunning victory in the Swamp.

What could we be in store for in this year’s matchup? LSU released a hype video for the game.

As far as the game itself, early betting odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook had Florida opening as 9.5 point favorites. With the circumstances surround this game, that line has only continued to grow.

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook

Line: Florida (-12.5)

O/U: 59.5

At the rate that LSU is losing players for the season, it wouldn’t be shocking to see that like get to 14 by kickoff.

LSU vs Florida: How to watch, listen, and stream the Tigers-Gators game

The Gators look to exact revenge as Florida invades Death Valley on Saturday. How to watch the LSU Tigers try to defend their home turf.

Early Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge, we have the Gators (4-2, 1-2) hosting the LSU Tigers (3-3, 1-2).

This game is big for both teams. The visiting Gators are looking to continue their hunt for a New Years Six bowl game. They are likely out of the hunt for the SEC East given how both Georgia and Kentucky have played this season. They would need a lot of help to get into the SEC title game at this point. The odds are definitely not in their favor.

As for the home team, LSU is playing for pride, bowl eligibility, and the head coach’s job. After an embarrassing loss on the road to Kentucky, it appears very bleak this week. The team lost by 21 to the Wildcats in a game that wasn’t even as close as the final score indicated. With the list of injuries piling up and how inept this team looks in the trenches, is there any chance of another upset win?

The Florida Gators want redemption in this game as they look to return the favor from a season ago.

If you aren’t able to make it to Tiger Stadium on Saturday, here is how you can tune into the game.

LSU vs Florida: Is anyone taking the Tigers to win?

Staff predictions and expert picks for the LSU-Florida game in Death Valley.

The kick-off between the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators from Tiger Stadium is fast approaching.

While the game doesn’t seem to have the same luster of year’s past, this couldn’t be a more important game for head coach Ed Orgeron. LSU sits at 3-3 (1-2) and desperately needing a win as their gauntlet stretch of ranked opponents continues.

Following the Florida matchup, Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M all get their shot to disappoint the Tigers. Each team is currently ranked in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll as we head into week seven.

The Bayou Bengals limp into this game without Derek Stingley Jr, Andre Anthony, Eli Ricks, Ali Gaye, Joseph Evans, Major Burns, Kayshon Boutte, John Emery Jr, the list goes on. This is the biggest test for Coach O, can he find a way to pull off a victory when everyone has counted them out?

We give our predictions as well as look at who the experts have in this SEC showdown in the early Saturday window.

The level of disinterest between LSU and Florida is alarming

This might be another red flag for LSU AD Scott Woodward to examine.

Heading into week seven of the college football season, we have a cross-divisional rivalry game between the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators. When it comes to cross-division games, this is one of the better ones in the SEC.

The Alabama-Tennessee matchup is completely one-sided with the Tide winning 14-straight games. The Bulldogs have won five in a row in the Georgia-Auburn game, “The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry”. Then we have the Tigers and Gators.

From 1988-2001, this was all Florida but since the turn of the century it has been LSU that has turned the tide. Florida finished that stretch 13-1 over LSU. However, since 2002 the record is 12-12. You win some, you lose some but it has become a competitive series.

When you look around the SEC this season, there seems to be very little interest in this game. Yes, the storylines for the game are all Ed Orgeron-related. It is a huge talking point but hey there is a game this week. Although you might not know it based on what everyone is discussing.

This game is starting in the 11:00 a.m. CDT slot for the first time since 2016, that game also was played at Tiger Stadium. However, this time around no one is expecting Death Valley to be a capacity. As Leah Vann reports, ticket prices have dropped for LSU football at Tiger Stadium.

For the second year in a row, LSU comes in with a .500 or worse record, one could believe that has put a damper on the excitement. But this isn’t a game between Florida and an LSU team that is 1-5 or 2-4. The Tigers still have six games remaining to put together a solid end to a disappointing year.

Perhaps the loss to Kentucky in the manner in which it happened, removed any anticipation for the game amongst the fan base. If that is indeed the case, and we will find out with the crowd Saturday, then LSU athletic director Scott Woodward should be very alarmed.

When you combine a non-competitive team (based on the last two games) with losing money on your football program, something will have to be done sooner rather than later.

CFB analyst Aaron Murray calls LSU ‘uninspired’, expects Florida dominance

Former UGA QB Aaron Murray discussed LSU and their uninspired brand of football.

Former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray is no stranger to teams like LSU and of course Florida, having played in the SEC. The all-time leading passer in SEC history had some strong words for the Tigers-Gators matchup this weekend.

Murray was a guest on ESPNU’s channel on SiriusXM radio. When asked about the matchup between the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators, Murray was quick to paint a picture of just how bad this matchup could be. “I expect Florida to run up and down the field on this team. I just see a lot of uninspired football”, Murray said.

He has not shied away from the fact that he loves the Tigers quarterback Max Johnson. Jokingly bringing up the one-time transfer rules to get him to Athens to play quarterback. When discussing the southpaw, Murray called him a “one-man band.” The Tigers have been average at best in the trenches on both sides of the ball. With no running game and now being without their star receiver, it will be up to Johnson to play the role of hero.

I think Murray speaks to the level of disinterest among the fanbase for this game against the Gators. Given the talk before the season with Florida’s Ventrell Miller essentially guaranteeing a win would spark some sort of fire for this upcoming game. Miller won’t play as he was lost for the season, but the fact that neither team is competing for their divisions has taken some of the luster from this rivalry game.

On a Saturday morning where these teams kick it off at 11:00 a.m. local time, there is no level of anticipation for this game. Given that oddsmakers put this as a double-digit margin, tells you that he could be dead on and it could get ugly this weekend for the Tigers and head coach Ed Orgeron.

LSU vs Florida: Running Backs Tale of the Tape

The running back comparison is one-sided once again.

This will be an uphill battle on Saturday afternoon down on the Bayou. The LSU Tigers and Florida Gators feature two completely different styles when it comes to running the football.

The Gators have the No. 1 rushing attack in the SEC, ranked No. 3 nationally. While the Tigers have a bottom two attack in the conference and nationally at No. 127 in yards per game and No. 122 in yards per attempt. Safe to say these teams are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to running the football.

The Tigers just lost their top receiving threat in Kayshon Boutte for the season, so that puts even more pressure on a unit that is underperforming. LSU has to find a way to have some semblance of balance between the run and pass to help alleviate some of the pressure on quarterback Max Johnson.

Let’s dive into the numbers for the Tigers-Gators matchup in the running game.

Behind Enemy Lines: Five Florida questions with Gators Wire

We check in with the enemy, Gators Wire answers five questions about the game.

We find ourselves in a similar situation as last week against the Kentucky Wildcats. The LSU Tigers desperately need a win this week against an SEC East foe. The Florida Gators come into Tiger Stadium looking to hand out some redemption against a team that is struggling.

Prior to this week’s game, we found out that star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte won’t be available for this game. Actually, he won’t be available for the rest of the season which is a major blow for the offense. Without much protection, a consistent running game, and now the best offensive weapon on the team, doesn’t leave much hope for the Bayou Bengals.

Still, you have to play the game. No one gave the Texas A&M Aggies much of a chance last Saturday against Alabama, they stunned the No. 1 team in the country. LSU has the opportunity to quiet some of the noise surrounding the program and their head coach with a win on Saturday.

The team isn’t going to play for an SEC Championship, but they have an opportunity to salvage the season and get to a bowl game. With Florida coming to town, we check in with Tyler Nettuno of Gators Wire. He answered five questions about Florida ahead of the trip to Death Valley.

LSU vs. Florida: Quarterback tale of the tape

A look at Max Johnson vs Emory Jones in this week’s QB Tale of the Tape.

Here we are on another Monday after a demoralizing loss, something that has become all too common under Ed Orgeron the last two seasons. Time to put the loss in the rearview as we focus on the upcoming game against the No. 17 Florida Gators.

Last season we saw such an odd ending to this game, when it appeared that the Gators had stopped the LSU offense, it all fell apart. Kole Taylor’s thrown shoe gave them new life as Cade York nailed a 57-yard field goal in the Swamp to give them a late lead.

Fast forward to this year, Florida is looking for road redemption. It will be a game that Orgeron desperately needs to win and avoid falling under .500 on the season. Much like last season, the team needed the win to avoid a 3-6 record.

We start the preview with a look at the two quarterbacks in this game. Max Johnson and Emory Jones.
