LSU at Mississippi: Three things to know

  1. LSU’s high-powered offense helped them to a 94-92 win in overtime against Georgia, and they have scored 77 or more points in each of its nine games to date. The Tigers are averaging 86.8 points per game, ranking 13th in the nation, and they’re 29th in the nation with a 49.2 field-goal percentage.
  2. LSU F Shareef O’Neal, who is averaging 3.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and a team-leading 0.6 blocked shots per game, is listed as questionable due to a foot injury. He is the son of former LSU and NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal.
  3. Ole Miss scored a 72-61 victory over Auburn last time out, hitting the brakes on an 0-2 SU/ATS mini skid. The Rebels struggle from deep and are ranked 312nd in 3-point shooting (28.3%) while the Tigers are excellent at defending threes and ranked 28th in opponent’s 3-point percentage (27.5%).

LSU at Mississippi: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Mississippi 76, LSU 72

Money line (ML)

MISSISSIPPI (-140) is a decent play at home if you don’t want to sweat out the points and want some simplicity. It will cost you a little extra juice, however. The Rebels have won five of six games at home this season, with their lone loss an 83-79 setback against Wichita State in a non-conference tilt Jan. 2.

Against the spread (ATS)

MISSISSIPPI -2.5 (-105) has failed to cover in consecutive games since the first two outings of the season against Jackson State and UNC Wilmington on Dec. 10-12. The Rebs have posted five covers in the past seven at home against teams with a losing road record, so back Ole Miss at The Pavilion.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 150.5 (-110) has cashed in all but one of Mississippi’s nine games so far this season, with Under results in each of its two SEC tilts to date. Ole Miss has tossed a blanket on the opposition this season, allowing just 60.2 PPG to rank 16th in the country in scoring defense. The Rebels will have their hands full against LSU’s high-flying offense, but this one will come in just under the number.
