Angel Reese ejected in 4th quarter against New York Liberty

Angel Reese drew technical fouls and was ejected for “disrespectfully addressing” the official and then “waving her hand in dismissal.”

Former LSU star [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag], who is currently in her rookie season with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, was ejected in the fourth quarter of her game against the New York Liberty on Tuesday night.

Reese drew her fifth personal foul and was subsequently called for two technical fouls. She was seen saying something to the official and seemingly waving her hand at him, at which point she was tossed from the game.

Lead official Maj Forsberg said that the ejection was a result of Reese “disrespectfully addressing” the official and then “waving her hand in dismissal.” That was apparently enough to get her tossed.

Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, who attended the game, wrote on social media that he would pay Reese’s fine for her.

Reese is averaging 10.9 points and 9.0 rebounds after eight games with Chicago, which sits at 3-5 on the season.

WNBA fines Angel Reese for failing to meet media responsibilities

Angel Reese was fined $1,000 by the WNBA after she didn’t make herself available to the media following Saturday’s loss.

Former LSU women’s basketball star and Chicago Sky rookie [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] has been fined $1,000 by the WNBA for failure to meet her media responsibilities.

Reese and the Sky lost by one point on Saturday night to fellow rookie Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Following the game, Reese apparently did not make her self available to the media, in violation of her contract.

The league also fined the Sky $5,000 for failing to ensure all players meet their media responsibilities.

Reese finished the 71-70 loss with 13 rebounds, marking just the second double-figure rebounding game of her career. But she managed just eight points on 2 of 9 shooting.

In seven games, Reese is averaging 10.6 points and 8.9 rebounds, including 5.6 offensive boards per game. Her field-goal percentage, which sits at 35.3%, has been the subject of some scrutiny, however.

She’ll take the court again on Tuesday as Chicago hosts the New York Liberty.

Angel Reese to wear Barbie-inspired shoes for 1st WNBA matchup against Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese will be showing off new Barbie-themed shoes on Saturday.

All eyes will be on the WNBA on Saturday as former college rivals [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] and Caitlin Clark make their first professional appearance against each other when the Chicago Sky take on the Indiana Fever.

Reese, a former superstar at LSU who embraced the nickname “Bayou Barbie,” and is now known as “Chi Barbie,” will be wearing some on-brand sneakers for the occasion. She’ll don custom-made, Barbie-themed shoes made by Reebok. The sneakers are pink and feature the licensed Barbie logo.

Six games into her WNBA career, Reese is averaging 11 points and 8.2 rebounds. The Sky are 3-3 and face a 1-8 Indiana team that is led by Clark, who averages 17.6 points.

Reese and Clark played two high-profile matchups against each other in college, first in last year’s national title (won by LSU) and later in this past Elite Eight, which Iowa won en route to a second-straight national title loss.

Angel Reese finds herself in impressive company after just 5 WNBA appearances

Angel Reese’s 24 offensive rebounds are the second-most any WNBA player has totaled in their first five games.

Former LSU women’s basketball star [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] faced some questions about how her game would translate to the WNBA level.

However, just five games into her professional career, she has been impressive for the Chicago Sky. Reese’s 24 offensive rebounds in her first five games are the second most in WNBA history behind only Yolanda Griffith, who had 31 to begin her career in 1999.

Reese notched her first career double-double on Tuesday night against the Seattle Storm, finishing with 11 points, 12 rebounds and two steals. She becomes just one of two Sky players to do so in her first five games, joining fellow LSU legend [autotag]Sylvia Fowles[/autotag].

Reese still has a lot to prove at the professional level, but it seems she’s just as impactful on the boards as she was playing with the Tigers.

LSU’s Angel Reese draws a hard foul, ejection in WNBA game

Angel Reese received quite a welcome to the WNBA from the Connecticut Sun star Alyssa Thomas.

LSU women’s basketball star [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] is still getting acclimated to the WNBA as a rookie starter for the Chicago Sky, and she received quite a welcome on Saturday night from Connecticut Sun’s star Alyssa Thomas.

While going for a rebound, Reese was fouled hard by Thomas and taken to the ground, where she was clearly in some discomfort. It was originally called a normal foul, but upon review, Thomas was ejected from the game.

Reese would play the rest of the way, finishing with 13 points and five rebounds. However, it was not enough for the Sky to get the win as it fell 86-82.

Reese addressed the incident nonchalantly with a post on social media after the game.

Reese is averaging 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds through four games for 2-2 Chicago. She is currently shooting 35.7% from the field.

Angel Reese becomes co-owner of professional soccer club

Angel Reese is getting involved in business ventures in sports other than basketball.

Former LSU women’s basketball star [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] is just getting acclimated to being a professional basketball player with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky after the team took her seventh overall last month, but she’s already working on some business ventures in other sports.

On Tuesday, Reese was announced as the first member of the ownership group for the new DC Power FC women’s professional soccer team, which is a member of the United Soccer League.

“I want to help grow women’s sports and elevate female athletes across the board,” Reese said in a release. “We’re taking over, and I’m honored to be able to support Power FC and invest in women’s soccer in the DMV community.”

DC Power, which will compete in USL’s Super League, will begin its inaugural season in August.

“Angel’s decision to be a founding investor alongside us in Power FC is groundbreaking,” Jason Levien, D.C. United CEO and Co-Chairman, said in a release. “As a Maryland native, Angel is so passionate about being a catalyst for positive change in women’s sports in the DMV as well as globally while inspiring the next generation of female athletes. We’re looking forward to her partnership in the boardroom as an equity partner.”

Reese has appeared in just two games so far early in her rookie season, but she has scored in double figures in both as she’s off to a nice start to her professional career.

Watch former LSU star Angel Reese throw first pitch at Chicago Cubs game

Angel Reese and Chicago teammate Kamilla Cardoso tossed out the first pitch at a Cubs game on Tuesday night.

[autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] hasn’t been in the Windy City long, but she’s already adapting to the Chicago sports culture.

The former LSU women’s basketball star and seventh-overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft is early in her rookie campaign with the Chicago Sky, but she and rookie teammate Kamilla Cardoso were chosen to throw the first pitch at a Chicago Cubs game on Tuesday night.

Formerly college rivals, Reese and Cardoso — a South Carolina product — are now on the same side after the Sky took Cardoso third overall in the same draft.

Two games into her rookie season, Reese is averaging 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds to go with 1.5 assists and a steal.

Reese and the Sky return to the court on Thursday night for a game on the road against the New York Liberty.

Angel Reese picks up first WNBA win with Chicago Sky

Angel Reese got her first WNBA victory as the Chicago Sky picked up their first win of the year.

The Chicago Sky picked up their first win of the year on Saturday night. That meant former LSU basketball star [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] got the first win of her WNBA career.

Reese nearly recorded a double-double in an 83-74 win over the Dallas Wings. Reese scored 11 with nine rebounds and a steal. Seven of those nine rebounds came on the offensive glass, which comes as no surprise to LSU fans who watched her dominate the offensive boards for two years.

Reese had a plus-mine of +17 on the day. Only the Sky’s Elizabeth Williams had a better mark.

Through two games, Reese is averaging 11.5 points per game while shooting .348 from the field.

The win wasn’t Reese’s only accomplishment on Saturday. It was graduation day for Reese too as she received her college degree after two years at Maryland and two years at LSU. Reese wasn’t able to make the ceremony, but she commemorated the occasion with a post on social media.

Reese’s teammates offered praise following the game with Diamond DeShields calling Reese a “rare talent.”

The Sky will be back in action again on May 23 as they face the undefeated New York Liberty.

Best photos from former LSU star Angel Reese’s WNBA debut with Chicago Sky

Though it was a loss for the Sky, Angel Reese scored 12 points with seven rebounds in a promising debut.

Former LSU women’s basketball superstar [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] made her WNBA debut with the Chicago Sky on Thursday night. Though it was a loss for the Sky, who were on the road against the Dallas Wings, it was a promising first outing from the rookie seventh overall pick.

Reese got the start for Chicago and ultimately scored in double figures with 12 points while also adding seven rebounds in 26 minutes played. It wasn’t all positive as she also recorded five personal fouls in the game, but it was certainly something to build on for Reese as her rookie season gets underway.

The Sky will be back in action on Saturday night for another game against the Wings, and this time, fans will be able to watch Reese as the game will be nationally televised on NBA TV.

In the meantime, here are the best photos from Reese’s debut.

Angel Reese drops 12 points in WNBA debut with Chicago Sky

Angel Reese got the start on opening night, scoring 12 points with seven rebounds in a loss for the Sky.

[autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] made her first appearance as a member of the WNBA on Wednesday night, starting for the Chicago Sky in its season opener against the Dallas Wings on the road.

Unfortunately for Chicago, it started the season with an 87-79 loss. But it was a promising debut for Reese, who scored in double figures with 12 points on 5 of 13 shooting while playing 26 minutes. She also added seven rebounds and an assist.

A two-time First Team All-American after transferring to LSU from Maryland, Reese led the Tigers to their first national championship in program history in 2023.

After a tournament exit in the Elite Eight this season, Reese declared for the WNBA draft where she was taken seventh overall with Chicago’s second first-round pick.

The first was used on South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso, who did not appear in the loss.
