2023 Cognizant Founders Cup prize money payouts for each LPGA player

Check out the prize money payouts at the 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup.

The roots of the Cognizant Founders Cup date back to 2011, the result of a dream former LPGA commissioner and current USGA CEO Mike Whan scribbled down on a hotel bar napkin to celebrate the tour’s 13 founders. The event has been critical to the growth of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf and a bridge between the current generation and those who, 70-plus years ago, laid the foundation.

It has elevated from players playing purely for charity, to one of the largest non-major purses on tour at $3 million thanks to Cognizant.

Jin Young Ko beat Minjee Lee in a playoff to win this event for a third time, taking home $450,000. The first time Ko won the Founders Cup in 2019, she earned $225,000.

Ko, a two-time winner in 2023, has now earned $970,692 this season and $11,334,148 in her LPGA career. She now has 15 titles on the LPGA, including two majors.

2023 JM Eagle LA Championship prize money payouts for each LPGA player

Check out the prize money payouts at the 2023 JM Eagle LA Championship.

The purse at the LPGA stop at Wilshire Country Club doubled in 2023 to $3 million thanks to new title sponsor JM Eagle and presenting sponsors. The renamed JM Eagle LA Championship now boasts one of the biggest purses on the LPGA schedule.

As a result, Australia’s Hannah Green took home $450,000 after clinching her third career title in a two-hole playoff. Green has now collected $3,983,874 in career earnings.

The major champ has an interesting financial trend when it comes to winning on tour:

“I had actually missed the cut last week at Chevron, and my other two wins that I had on Tour, I missed the weekend the week prior. Not that I want to miss cuts, but it has been some sort of a recipe to a win.”

LPGA: 20-year-old Ruoning Yin wins 2023 Dio Implant LA Open

Yin is the second golfer from China to win, joining Shanshan Fang.

Ruoning Yin of China parlayed her first 36- and 54-hole leads into her first LPGA victory.

Yin, 20, shot 68-63-67-71 for a 1-shot victory at 15 under Sunday at the Dio Implant LA Open at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, California, fending off England’s Georgia Hall.

Yin turned pro at age 17 on the China LPGA and promptly won her first three events there. Now she’s a winner on the LPGA. She is the second golfer from China to win, joining Shanshan Fang.

There was almost a playoff for the second time in seven days on the LPGA. Up a shot, Yin had a 25-footer for birdie on 18 that would’ve iced it but lipped it out. The door was open for Hall to force a playoff for the second straight week but her six-foot birdie slid past the hole on the left. After making her par, Yin then closed it out with a par of her own to win by one.

At 20 years, 6 months and 5 days, Yin is the youngest winner on the LPGA since Atthaya Thitikul at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship last season at age 19 years, 7 months, 5 days.

She earned $262,500 for her win.

Patty Tavatanakit and Hyo Joo Kim tied for third at 12 under. Carlota Ciganda and Nelly Korda tied for fifth at 11 under. Danielle Kang, who withdrew last week at the LPGA Drive On Championship and was later hospitalized, returned to action and tied for seventh at 10 under.

Jin Young Ko tied for 25th at 4 under. World No. 1 Lydia Ko tied for 34th at 3 under. Rookie Lucy Li, who shot 76-76 last week to finish last in the 144-gofler field, shot 67-73-6673 to post a tie for 18th.

Yin is the second first-time winner in 2023, joining Lilia Vu. Golfers from five countries have now won the five LPGA events this season: Yin (China), Celine Boutier (France), Brooke Henderson (Canada), Jin Young Ko (Korea) and Vu (U.S.).

There’s just one more event until the first LPGA major of 2023. The Lotte Championship in Hawaii in two weeks is the final tune-up for the 2023 Chevron Championship (April 20-23), which has moved from Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, to its new home at The Club at Carlton Woods near Houston.

Celine Boutier’s career total has increased to $4,143,690.

Celine Boutier collected her third LPGA trophy at the Drive On Championship in a playoff against Solheim Cup partner Georgia Hall. The Frenchwoman earned $262,500 for her efforts, bringing her career total to $4,143,690.

With the win, 29-year-old Boutier becomes the winningest French player in LPGA history, passing major winner Patricia Meunier-Lebouc and Anne-Marie Palli.

The Drive On featured a purse of $1,750,000.

The cut number for official LPGA events changed to top 65 and ties for the 2023 season. The Drive On was the first full-field event of the season. A total of 76 players made the cut. Previously, the top 70 players and ties made the cut.
