However, L.A. has a 3-phase edge over Chicago in starting and relief pitching and hitting. In fact, if we were in September, Gonsolin’s name would be in National League Cy Young discussions.
Gonsolin grades in the 87th percentile or better in expected ERA, batting average, wOBA, slugging percentage and hard-hit rate (per Statcast) His splitter is one of the most effective pitches in baseball thus far.
Also, the White Sox score 2.38 fewer runs per 9 innings vs. lefties compared to righties (5.60-3.22) whereas the L.A. lineup’s numbers are pretty similar regardless of their opponent’s pitching handedness.

L.A. is 16-11 RL as road favorites, Chicago is 3-4 RL as home underdogs and the Dodgers -1.5 (-110) are a considerably better team than the White Sox +1.5 (-110).
But, L.A.’s ML is already expensive, and the sharper wager, and I hate paying a tax for a RL hence the LEAN to the DODGERS -1.5 (-110).
Over/Under
LEAN UNDER 8.5 (-102) only because the Over is more expensive and most of the betting public is taking the Under, according to Pregame.com.
That said, the Dodgers are 8-17-2 O/U as road favorites, the White Sox are 10-14-1 O/U at home, Guaranteed Rate Field is a more pitcher-friendly ballpark and these teams have a combined 4-10 O/U record when these starters take the mound.
