Los Angeles Clippers at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Los Angeles Clippers at San Antonio Spurs odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Clippers (21-22) travel to AT&T Center Saturday to take on the San Antonio Spurs (15-27). Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Clippers vs. Spurs odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Clippers have been underdogs in five straight games, having played several weeks now without star F Paul George.

Their defense has lagged from one of the top in the league to now giving up the 7th-fewest points per game. The Clippers are just 19-24 ATS this season.

The Spurs have been far better at 22-20 ATS. San Antonio is far better than their record indicates. They have a -.5 net rating. For reference, the 22-20 Wizards have a -1.8.

Nearing full strength, this will be the Spurs’ second night of a back-to-back, losing and failing to cover against the Cavaliers.

Clippers at Spurs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Spurs 114, Clippers 107

Money line

BET on the SPURS -120.

San Antonio doesn’t turn the ball much. They’re a well-coached team and have the fourth-best turnover rate.

Meanwhile, the Clippers force the 11th-most turnovers in the league and only managed a big-time comeback against the Nuggets because Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon combined for 9 turnovers.

The Spurs won’t make those same mistakes. San Antonio also ranks 10th in offensive rebounding while the Clippers rank 27th in defensive rebounding rate.

Considering those two X-factors that I think trend more towards the Spurs, I think they should come out on top.

Lastly, the Spurs play better at home (7-12 as compared to 8-15 on the road), and the Clippers play worse on the road (7-10 as compared to 14-13 at home).

Against the spread

PASS on the spread. The Spurs have had 3 of their last 4 games decided by 5 or fewer points. I’d take the more expensive value and just play San Antonio to win outright.

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 219.5 (-110).

I don’t love this total, but the Spurs play at the fourth-highest pace in the league. They’re 22-18-2 O/U this season. San Antonio’s Over has hit in 5 of its last 8. The Clippers are 5-5 O/U in their last 10.

I prefer the Over as the Spurs have been thriving, but San Antonio outright is a far better bet.

Los Angeles Clippers at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Los Angeles Clippers at San Antonio Spurs NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The San Antonio Spurs (22-19) host the Los Angeles Clippers (29-16) for the second straight night Thursday at AT&T Center. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Clippers-Spurs odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Los Angeles has won three games in a row and four of its past five contests while going 4-1 against the spread, including a 134-101 beatdown of San Antonio as a 6-point road favorite Wednesday. The Spurs are on a three-game losing skid following a three-game win streak. They are 4-5 straight up but 5-4 ATS to start the second half of their season.

The Clippers are 5-2 straight up and 4-3 ATS against the Spurs since signing SF Kawhi Leonard and SF Paul George in 2019.

Clippers at Spurs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers

Money line (ML)

PASS with a LEAN toward the Spurs (+195) because I like San Antonio to cover the spread and will often sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when taking them plus the points.

The Clippers’ post-All-Star break form has been scary and now might not be the time to fade Los Angeles. If the Spurs were closer to +260 on the money line, I’d entertain it, but not at this price.

Against the spread (ATS)

Bookmakers opening the Clippers-Spurs game with Los Angeles laying 5.5 points after last night’s 33-point victory as a 6-point favorite shows how hard it’s been for teams to win and cover two straight games against the same opponent.

If the House isn’t overreacting to last night’s result – and according to pregame.com, nearly 90% of the money is coming in on the Clippers – then my instinct is to fade the market in this spot and trust the House’s read.

The Clippers’ current three-game ATS winning streak is the first time they’ve strung together back-to-back covers since three straight from February 12-15.

In fact, Los Angeles is just 13-15 ATS following a win and San Antonio is 10-8 ATS after a loss.

LEAN SPURS +6 (-110) for a half-unit but wait until closer to tip-off to see if we can get a better price with San Antonio.

Over/Under (O/U)

GIMME UNDER 222.5 (-115) for a half-unit.

It’s going to be hard for San Antonio’s offense to get quality looks when it is so dependent on SG DeMar DeRozan and L.A. has two quality defensive wings to throw at him.

Also, SF Rudy Gay being available immensely improves San Antonio’s defense and he can help clog the interior, which is where George and Leonard like to operate.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, Gay is in the 100th percentile of bigs in on-off court rating for team defensive points per 100 possessions and 99th percentile for defensive effective field-goal shooting.

Clippers at Spurs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Spurs 110, Clippers 107

Money line (ML)

The SPURS (+200) are worth a look for a chance to double up. Don’t go crazy, but a light wager is worth a roll of the dice. San Antonio has won three of the past five, while L.A. has also won three of the previous five. The Spurs won the only previous meeting this season at Staples Center by a 116-113 score, too.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SPURS +6 (-105) are a strong play at home catching three buckets if you’re not feeling them straight up. The Clippers -6 (-115) have cashed just once in the past six on the road, and they’re 1-4 ATS in the past five as a road favorite. San Antonio has cashed in four of the past five overall, and they’re 19-9 ATS in the past 28 as a ‘dog.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 220.5 (-110) is the way to go in this Western Conference tilt. The Under has hit in seven of the past nine at home for the Spurs, while hitting in each of the past four games following a straight-up loss. The Under has hit in three of the past four for the Clips, too.
