Another former Longhorns coach has found a new home. It was reported on Thursday that former Texas offensive line coach Herb Hand will now be heading to the state of Florida.
Originally agreeing to be a part of the University of Charlotte staff, Hand has decided to take a similar path as Jay Vilai and opt for a different destination and will instead coach the same position at the University of Central Florida. This decision comes less than one month after originally committing to the Charlotte role.
The news was first reported by 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello via Twitter.

Hand was one of the many coaches that was not retained from Tom Herman’s staff after the hiring of head coach Steve Sarkisian. What originally appeared to be a step down in terms of the level of program, UCF a much softer blow as Hand joins another former SEC and national championship-winning coach in Gus Malzahn.
