The NFL has announced, once again, the Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the teams slated to play in its series of games in London this year.

Last year, the Jaguars played the Miami Dolphins in one of the overseas matchups. This year, three “home” teams have already been announced for the London Series. Jacksonville obviously, with the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints being the other two.

The NFL has put a lot of emphasis lately on trying to grow the sport into a more global game, probably spurred on by the marked success the NBA has had in turning its game into a worldwide commodity.

Don’t expect any Browns games in England in 2020

The Browns were a likely London foe for the Jaguars

When the 2020 NFL schedule is released later this week, there will not be any international games on the listing. Reports from Adam Schefter of ESPN and others bubbled over the weekend that games in England and Mexico are going away amidst the global coronavirus pandemic.

The Browns were a strong candidate to be one of the teams the Jacksonville Jaguars hosted in one of their two games that were scheduled to be in London. That game will now be scheduled in Jacksonville instead.

Cleveland played the Minnesota Vikings in London in 2017.

The NFL is still expected to begin a full 16-game schedule on time in the fall, or at least release a schedule that indicates normalcy. The logistics of local quarantine rules could impact that effort.
