LFA 121 full results: Chris Brown stuns Steve Jones in third, scores ground and pound TKO finish

LFA returned to action on Friday evening and produced a number of highlight-reel moments in the promotion’s first card of the year.

Legacy Fighting Alliance kicked off its year in Texas on Friday with an exciting slate of fights.

LFA 121 took place on Friday evening in Dallas at The Factory in Deep Ellum and produced a number of highlight moments on the main card.

Headlining the evening was a welterweight matchup between [autotag]Chris Brown[/autotag] (8-3) vs. Steve Jones (8-3), who closed the show in their first main event slots with the promotion.

The pair of 32-year-old fighters traded kicks throughout the first round, with both men having their moments. Jones pressed the action by stalking his opponent around the cage early, but Brown was ready to counter with kicks when he saw the opportunity.

Jones closed the round with a takedown and carried that strategy into the second round, as he tried to bring the fight to the canvas. However, Brown was able to take the back of Jones in the closing seconds.

The big moment occurred early in the final round as Brown rocked Jones with a left hook, leading to a flurry of punches as he tried to secure the finish. Jones scrambled and did his best to hold on stop the onslaught, but Brown ended up in back mount and continued to rain down elbows and punches until the referee saw enough.

Brown, a JacksonWink MMA product, picked up his third straight victory and second consecutive finish. During his post fight interview, he made a case for a shot at the LFA welterweight title.

“It’s the only fight that makes sense,” Brown said. “‘Breezy’ looks good in gold.”

LFA video: Michael Cyr transitions from twister to rear-naked choke for incredible comeback win

Check out Michael Cyr’s incredible comeback submission at LFA 121 on Friday evening.

[autotag]Micahel Cyr[/autotag] remains undefeated after an incredible comeback on Friday evening.

At LFA 121 in Dallas, Cyr (4-0) faced Alden Coria, entering the contest as a massive underdog. Coria (5-1) had control of the fight in the first two rounds, seemingly heading towards a unanimous decision win if the fight saw the final horn.

However, Cyr had his say in the outcome and attempted the submission he called for before the fight, a twister. The attempt was deep and somehow Coria did not tap from the rare technique. Cyr didn’t completely give up on submissions after the twister failed though, and transitioned to a rear-naked choke while Coria’s arm was trapped behind his back.

Check out video of the finish below (via Twitter):

Cyr pulled off the comeback victory as a huge underdog to pull off an early submission of the year candidate. Three of his four professional wins have come by submission, while the other was a first-round TKO.

LFA 121 video: Anvar Boynazarov crushes opponent in 21 seconds with a devastating knee

Anvar Boynazarov made quick work of his opponent at LFA 121 on Friday, picking up his third-straight first round finish.

Fireworks were on display inside the LFA cage on Friday evening.

[autotag]Anvar Boynazarov[/autotag] was struggling to find opponents and his performance on Friday was a good indicator of why not many are clamoring to step inside the cage with him.

On Friday evening at LFA 121, Boynazarov (3-0) wasted little time getting the job done against John Pham. Anxious to get the fight started, the referee had to tell him more than once to stay on his side of the cage until the doors were locked.

Once the action began, it didn’t last long. Boynazarov pressured his opponent and landed a well-timed knee to the jaw, sending Pham (4-3) into the fence. A barrage of punches followed and the fight was over in just 21 seconds.

Friday’s performance marked Boynazarov’s third-straight first-round finish, the longest of which was only a minute and 39 seconds.

After his spectacular knockout, Boynazarov got on the mic and made his plea to Dana White to sign him to the UFC and also called out UFC on ESPN 32 headliner [autotag]Giga Chikadze[/autotag], who he previously defeated in a kickboxing bout in 2015.
