Kentucky baseball got another big win on Saturday, beating Illinois 6 – 1 in their second Lexington Regional match-up. The offense performed well, as usual, but they got a fantastic outing from Trey Pooser on the mound as well.
Ryan Waldschmidt is a potential first round draft pick, and he showed why in this one. He went 3-for-5, with a homerun, a run scored, and three RBIs. Ryan Nicholson also homered for the Wildcats and drove in two. Emilien Pitre knocked in the other Kentucky run.
Pooser went seven innings, and gave up five hits and just one run. He struck out seven. Ryan Hagenow finished the game, giving up one hit, while striking out three in his two innings of work.
Overall, it was a great day for Kentucky fans, who got to see a mostly dominant win from the Cats. The pictures from the game tell the story of a terrific team win. Here are the best images from Saturday’s match-up.
