WATCH: Former Patriots rival scores wicked knockout win over Adrian Peterson in boxing match

This right hand punch was nasty!

A former longtime New England Patriots rival, Le’Veon Bell, the former running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, lowered the boom on legendary running back Adrian Peterson in a boxing matchup on Saturday night.

The fight took place as part of the Social Gloves 2 event, which featured a fight between YouTubers Austin McBroom and AnEson Gib.

There wasn’t much action throughout the bout, as the former NFL stars were in the feeling out process for what felt like an eternity. To be fair, it was their first actual high-profile boxing match. The match was listed as an exhibition bout, which means the result won’t actually count.

But Bell did leave fans with something to remember by dropping Peterson with a devastating knockout in the fifth and final round.

For years, Bell served as one of the Killer B’s for the Steelers, along with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wideout Antonio Brown. The team stood in opposition of the New England Patriots at one point as one of the best teams in the AFC.

Bell is now dedicating himself towards starting a career in boxing. From the looks of his first fight, so far, so good.

Watch: Adrian Peterson knocked out by Le’Veon Bell in boxing match

Adrian Peterson’s first boxing match on Saturday night did not end well.

Former Tennessee Titans running back Adrian Peterson took part in a boxing match against fellow former NFL running back Le’Veon Bell on Saturday night, and things did not end well for Peterson.

The event, which was called “Social Gloves: No More Talk”, featured Bell and Peterson as the two biggest names on the card.

In the fifth and final round of their match, Bell landed a nasty right hand to the head of Peterson, who hit the deck after the big blow. Peterson was able to get up, but he was clearly dazed, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

“I appreciate everybody’s love and support, for real,” Bell said after the fight, per ESPN’s Myron Medcalf. “That’s really what kept me going. Honestly, all the hate… that motivates me.”

Bell, who has not officially retired from the NFL, has said in the past he intends to pursue a career in boxing. So far, he’s off to a good start.

As for Peterson, he remains a free agent and has yet to officially retire, also. He appeared in three games (two starts) for the Titans in 2021 in the wake of Derrick Henry’s injury. He also played in one game for the Seattle Seahawks.

Le’Veon Bell knocks out Adrian Peterson in boxing exhibition

Adrian Peterson was flattened by Le”Veon Bell in a boxing exhibition

The headline is correct.

In a fight not seen by many at Banc of California Stadium on Saturday, running backs who combined for about 28,000 yards of total offense saw one punch end an exhibition bout.

After a quartet of sluggish — sorry — rounds, Le’Veon Bell did something few NFL defensive players could: stop Adrian Peterson.

It took one right hand to send the 3-time rushing champ to the canvas. The ref showed mercy and stopped the fight.

It feels as if the time is right for Peterson to call it a career in the ring, and gridiron

Official poster for Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell fight released

“No more talk” for Peterson and Bell.

The poster for the much-anticipated exhibition boxing match featuring legendary NFL running backs Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell has been released.

On social media, Bell tagged the poster along with a Twitter comment saying, “nothing else needs to be said, let’s gooo.”

Both players have signed on for a bout at the next Social Gloves Entertainment event, which pits celebrities and social media stars against one another in the ring, on July 30 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The name recognition alone should turn heads with the NFL stars slated to fight on the undercard of an event featuring a main event bout between YouTube stars Austin McBroom and AnEsonGib.

This will be the first time Peterson and Bell have actually competed in a boxing match.

Both were still on NFL rosters as early as last season. Peterson, the longtime Minnesota Viking, signed with the Tennessee Titans in November and then the Seattle Seahawks in December. Meanwhile, Bell played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baltimore Ravens.

The former Pittsburgh Steeler has been calling out YouTube star Jake Paul for a boxing match.

Perhaps he’ll finally get his wish if he proves he can hang in the ring with “All Day.”

Former Ravens RB to face off against RB Adrian Peterson in exhibition boxing match

A former Ravens running back will face off against running back Adrian Peterson in an exhibition boxing match

The Baltimore Ravens needed to sign many different veteran running backs before the 2021 season began due to the season-ending injuries suffered by J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill. Latavius Murray, Devonta Freeman and Le’Veon Bell were each signed, but their running game wasn’t nearly the same without their injured stars.

In an official announcement on Twitter, Bell revealed that he’ll be taking his talents to the boxing ring, where he’ll face off with fellow veteran running back Adrian Peterson in an exhibition boxing match. The bout was rumored to be happening, but now it’s all systems go.

The match will take place on Saturday, July 30th in Los Angeles, California. Bell used boxing as cardio during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the sport has been a passion for the running back. He called out Jake Paul on Twitter, and even performed a boxing-inspired touchdown celebration after scoring in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Bell only played in five games with Baltimore, totaling 31 carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He was then waived in the middle of the season, where he then latched on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Peterson and Bell will meet on the undercard of Social Gloves 2, an event promoted by YouTube star Austin McBroom. McBroom will take on fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in the main event. Rapper Blueface will fight former NBA player Nick Young on the undercard.

Peterson, who was signed by the Titans in 2021 in the wake of the injury to superstar running back Derrick Henry, played in three games for Tennessee before being waived in late November.

The future Hall of Famer then latched on with the Seattle Seahawks, where he appeared in one game.

Bell played with both the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, appearing in eight games in total.

Ex-Jets RB Le’Veon Bell to box vs. Adrian Peterson in July

Ex-#Jets RB Le’Veon Bell to box vs. Adrian Peterson in July:

Another former New York Jets running back is getting into the ring.

According to ESPN, Le’Veon Bell is the next man up to put on the gloves as he’ll step into the ring against another former running back: Adrian Peterson.

Both are former All-Pros at their position in the NFL.

The match will be considered an exhibition. It is slated for July 30 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The first former New York rusher to get in the run was Frank Gore, another All-Pro running back. He took on NBA All-Star Deron Williams in an exhibition on the December undercard of Jake Paul-Tyron Woodley 2.

Gore made his pro debut in May with a knockout win.

In terms of their NFL futures, both are currently free agents. Peterson, 37, played in four games last season. Bell, 30, appeared in eight games in 2021 (Ravens, Buccaneers).

Former MSU RB Le’Veon Bell to face Adrian Peterson in heavyweight boxing exhibition

Former MSU star running back Le’Veon Bell will reportedly face future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson in an exhibition boxing match

I’m about to write something I would have never anticipated writing — Le’Veon Bell will fight Adrian Peterson in a boxing match next month.

News broke on Monday that the former star Spartans running back has signed a contract to face the future Hall of Famer Peterson in an exhibition boxing match. The fight will take place on July 30 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

This is an amazing idea and something that I’m sure many Spartans fans will be pumped to watch. There’s no doubt that both Bell and Peterson were great running backs in the NFL but who knows how they’ll do in a boxing match? It should make for great entertainment.

Adrian Peterson set to fight Le’Veon Bell in exhibition boxing match

Peterson and Bell are set to fight on July 30.

Legendary running backs Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell are officially trading in their cleats for boxing gloves.

The unsigned NFL free agents are set to fight on the undercard of the “Social Gloves 2” event, which is being promoted by YouTuber Austin McBroom.

It’s an event that books fantasy fights with celebrities and social media stars. Apparently, that’s the cool thing to do these days after all of the recent fight hype surrounding Jake and Logan Paul.

Peterson and Bell have been confirmed to the fight card on July 30, per ESPN. That fight alone could create a significant draw considering the weight of each of the players’ names in the sports world.

But can they box?

That’s the biggest question mark heading into an event that could be equally as cringe-worthy as it is entertaining.

Jets rank last in NFL in dead money

The Jets have the least amount of dead money in the NFL.

For once, the Jets rank last in something positive.

New York has the least dead money in the NFL with just $2.08 million, according to Over The Cap. That money is tied to just four players: TE Ryan Griffin ($686,118), DE Jabari Zuniga ($498,684) QB James Morgan ($357,632) and OT Cameron Clark ($35,496).

This is in stark contrast to what the Jets’ dead cap situation has looked like recently. New York had the third-most dead money over the previous three seasons with $117 million over that span, per Warren Sharp. The Jets paid 20 players a combined $31 million last year alone with the likes of CB  Trumaine Johnson, QB Sam Darnold and RB Le’Veon Bell still on the books.

Those numbers were all thanks to poor drafting and poor free agent signings by Mike Maccagnan during his tenure as the Jets’ GM. Joe Douglas did his best to rid the team of those bad deals when he joined the Jets in 2019 and is finally starting to see the fruits of his labor in 2022.

Not only do the Jets have their financials cleaned up from the previous regime, but the team doesn’t have too many bad contracts left on the books that would force them to incur any more major dead cap hits. The biggest potential dead money hits are tied to players the Jets have no interest in moving right now, like C.J. Mosley, Carl Lawson, Corey Davis and John Franklin-Myers.

Having so little dead cap means the Jets are using almost all of their cap space on players who can actually help the team now. It also helps that Douglas adopted the strategy of building through the draft rather than overpaying for players or signing deals that aren’t team-friendly.
