WATCH: Bears UDFA DL LaCale London celebrated with drive-by parade

Undrafted free agent DL LaCale London was the latest Bear to get a drive-by parade in his hometown of Peoria, IL.

It’s an exciting time for the newest members of the Chicago Bears, and their family, friends and supporters have been showering them with congratulations. You know, the virtual way.

And for a couple of players, it’s more special given they’re staying somewhat local. Such was the case for tight end Cole Kmet, who got a drive-by parade in Arlington Heights on Friday.

Bears undrafted free agent — and Western Illinois product — defensive lineman LaCale London was the most recent Bear to get a warm welcome from his community.

LaCale was congratulated by hundreds of people on Sunday, who were celebrating the Peoria product’s signing with his hometown Bears.

London was a JUCO transfer to Western Illinois, where he earned MVFC All-Newcomer Team honors for his junior season. He played in 11 games, where he totaled 23 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery.

But it was his senior year that was his coming out party. London started all 12 games, where he tallied 45 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four sacks.

London has an uphill battle to earn a roster spot, or possibly a practice squad spot. But for now, he can celebrate that his NFL dream has come to fruition.
