The Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers will kick off their 2022 seasons with a marquee divisional matchup in Week 1. This AFC West showdown will start at 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS) from SoFi Stadium. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Raiders vs. Chargers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.
The Raiders beat the Chargers in Week 18 last season 35-32 in overtime to prevent the Chargers from making the playoffs.
Las Vegas lost in the 1st round of the postseason to the Cincinnati Bengals, but they checked a box by simply getting into the playoffs. Now, they’re in even better shape after adding WR Davante Adams and OLB Chandler Jones in the offseason.
The Chargers also set themselves up for success, signing CB J.C. Jackson and trading for OLB Khalil Mack. Los Angeles is one of the most talented teams in the NFL, but the Raiders could be contenders, too.

Money line
I like the Chargers in this AFC West matchup, even with how promising the Raiders look. The money line doesn’t offer a lot of reward at -180, but this is a game they should win at home.
Bet the CHARGERS (-180) to win outright and start the year 1-0, just as they did last year in coach Brandon Staley’s debut.
Against the spread
The Chargers will be without Jackson in the secondary, which does hurt. But the combination of DE Joey Bosa and Mack will be too much for the Raiders’ offensive tackles to handle when LA is on defense.
These teams split the series ATS last season, 1-1, but the Chargers are the better team on paper right now. Bet the CHARGERS -3.5 (-110).
Over/Under
I honestly don’t love the Over/Under line in this game. Both pass rushes should be really good out of the gate, and as we saw with the Los Angele Rams-Buffalo Bills game, teams can get off to slow starts in Week 1 – especially for teams that didn’t play their starters in the preseason.
On the other hand, these should be 2 of the most explosive offenses in football, and the O/U line reflects that. LEAN the UNDER 52.5 (-112), but this is a tough line to pick.
