Prediction
Lakers 121, Spurs 106
Moneyline (ML)
The LAKERS (-222) are road favorites as they come into AT&T Center on a seven-game winning streak and with a 6-1 road record for the season. They won their last two games on the road and beat the Memphis Grizzlies 109-108 Saturday. The Spurs (+180) are 4-4 at home for the season and they most recently beat the New York Knicks 111-104 at Madison Square Garden to complete a four-game road trip with a 1-3 record.
Los Angeles outscores its opposition by an average of 111.9-103.1. Its plus-8.8 point differential ranks third in the NBA. San Antonio has been outscored by an average of 115.4-112.8. The visitors will take this one comfortably to extend their streak to eight straight victories.
Against the Spread (ATS)
The more profitable play is to back the LAKERS (-4.5, -115) to win by five or more points. A $10 bet will return a profit of $8.70.
LA is 9-7 against the spread overall but just 3-4 on the road; however, San Antonio is 4-13 ATS overall and a woeful 1-7 ATS at home. Nine of the Spurs’ 11 losses on the year were by margins of at least five points. Eleven of the Lakers’ 14 victories came by at least a five-point margin.
The Lakers cover by an average of 1.3 points per game while the Spurs fall an average of 5.1 points shy of the cover for the worst differential in the NBA.
Over/Under (O/U)
Take the OVER 222.5 (-120) with the Lakers expected to handle the bulk of the scoring on the road. San Antonio is 11-6 against the Over/Under for the year and plays to an average of 6.7 points above the projected total, as its opponents lead the way with an average of 115.4 points per game. The Lakers are just 8-8 against the O/U, but they’ll have their way against the Spurs’ defense with close to a full lineup.
