The Sacramento Kings (1-1) welcome the Los Angeles Lakers (1-1) to Golden 1 Center Sunday. Tip is set for 9 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Lakers vs. Kings odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting of 2023; Kings won 3 of 4 last season

The Kings beat the Utah Jazz 130-114 Wednesday, covering as 2-point road favorites in their season opener. Sacramento then lost in its home-opening match to the Golden State Warriors 122-114 Friday, failing to cover as a 3-point favorite. It is 1-1 against the spread (ATS). Sacramento is led by G De’Aaron Fox, who is averaging 28.5 points per game.

The Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets 119-107 Tuesday to kick off the NBA season. Los Angeles failed to cover as a 5-point road underdog. It then beat the Phoenix Suns 100-95 Thursday, again failing to cover as a 6.5-point home favorite. The Lakers are 0-2 ATS and 0-2 O/U. Lakers at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 120, Lakers 112

Moneyline

PASS.

The Lakers are 0-1 on the road and only clawed out a home win over the short-handed Suns. Expect them to struggle, but at -140, the home side isn’t worth backing on the moneyline either.

Against the spread

BET KINGS -2.5 (-110).

The Lakers are 0-2 ATS while the Kings are 1-1 ATS. Los Angeles was 23-25-1 ATS last season on the road.

The more concerning part is that the Lakers sit 23rd in offensive rating while the Kings are at No. 5. The Lakers rank 25th in true shooting percentage, so offensively, this team won’t be able to keep up with the fast-paced Kings.

Take the far superior offense and back KINGS -2.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 234.5 (-105).

The Kings are averaging 122 points per game, but the Lakers have an older roster and will take the air out of the ball.

Los Angeles ranks 18th in pace and 11th in defensive rating. It should be able to play its style of game, as did the Warriors when they took on the Kings Friday.

Given the potential style of play, take UNDER 234.5 (-105).

Lakers at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 120, Lakers 115

Money line

The two teams met just four days ago in Los Angeles and went to triple overtime and the Kings came away with a 141-137 win. Barnes missed that game.

The Kings have struggled at home to the tune of a 3-7 record in their first 10 games at Golden 1 Center.

The Lakers have alternated wins and losses the last six games and won their last game.

Take the KINGS (+155).

Against the spread

The Lakers have covered the spread in only one of their last six games. They were 7.5-point favorites in their loss to the Kings and they are the league’s worst team performing against the spread at 7-15.

The Kings aren’t much better at 9-12 ATS but outperform their overall record. They have covered the spread in two of their last three games.

Expecting an outright Kings win, I would certainly take them to cover the spread as underdogs. Take the KINGS +4.5 (-108).

Over/Under

The Lakers lead the NBA with 14 games hitting the Over. Their last three games have gone Over the projected total, as have five of their last six. They are 9-3 O/U in their last 12.

The Kings’ last three games and four of their last five have hit the Over.

Take OVER 225.5 (-115).

Lakers at Kings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

King 108, Lakers 101

Money line (ML)

The Lakers are struggling without James and Davis, and recently-acquired Drummond was injured in his first game with L.A. However, only one of the Lakers’ five recent losses is to a team under .500. They are 4-1 in their last five games against teams under .500.

The Kings did win the last matchup between the two, claiming a 123-120 home victory March 3. That said, the Lakers without Davis, James and Drummond against one of the hotter teams in the league right now doesn’t seem like a smart bet. Take the KINGS -190.

Against the spread (ATS)

Both the Lakers and Kings are 22-26 ATS this season. The Kings are 6-3 ATS in their last nine games, while the Lakers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven. Ass a favorite, the Kings are 7-9 ATS, while the Lakers are 2-6 ATS as underdogs and have not covered the spread in their last four games as dogs.

Things could change, but the Lakers are bad bet right now. Take the KINGS -4.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Lakers continue to be consistent. They have the highest Under percentage in the league at 66.7%. Their last four games and seven of their last eight have gone Under the total. The Kings are 28-20 O/U, in part because they score a lot (115.0 points per game) and have the league’s second-worst scoring defense. Their last matchup went Over the total but even the Kings have had eight of their last 12 games go Under. Take UNDER 220.5 (-105).

Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Lakers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Lakers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Los Angeles Lakers (24-12) stop by the Golden 1 Center for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off against Pacific Division rival Sacramento Kings (13-21). Below, we analyze the Lakers-Kings odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Los Angeles has struggled since big Anthony Davis was sidelined with a calf injury Feb. 16. Since AD went down, the Lakers are 3-5 overall and ATS while being 25th in offensive rating and effective field goal shooting (eFG%).

The Kings had a disastrous month of February, losing 10 of its last 11 games (1-10 ATS), this after four straight to start the month. Sacramento head coach Luke Walton is on the hot seat with his team having the worst defensive rating and worst defensive eFG% in the Association.

Lakers at Kings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kings 125, Lakers 115

Money line (ML)

PASS even though I expect Sacramento to win outright because there’s no way I’m laying -160 with a Kings team that has won once in the previous 11 games.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Let’s follow the money here and BET KINGS -3.5 (-110) for 1 unit. More than 60% of the market is backing the Kings in this spot (according to Pregame.com), and they aren’t using rocket science to land on the Sacramento side here. The Lakers are without their best players.

Of the guys who actually play significant minutes for Los Angeles, the Lakers will definitely be without their top-2 players in terms of on-off court net rating (AD and LeBron) and possibly a third with PG Alex Caruso’s questionable game status.

Also, these teams played a similar game last season in the Orlando bubble. The Kings probably didn’t deserve to be invited to the bubble in the first place while the Lakers limped down the stretch of the regular-season restart before turning it on the postseason.

AD missed that Lakers-Kings game, LeBron played an uninspiring 14:36 minutes, and Sacramento rolled the Los Angeles 136-122. I’d even go as far as to say that this Lakers team isn’t as deep as that Lakers team, especially defensively.

Over/Under (O/U)

TAKE the OVER 223.5 (-110) for 1 unit. The Kings can’t guard anyone, and they hung 136 on the Lakers last season – that again was better defensively.

Plus the market still hasn’t adjusted to how bad Sacramento’s defense is. The Kings are 23-11 O/U this season, and the Over has cashed in nine of their previous 10 games entering Wednesday.
