Rob Dillingham is among the second group of players invited to the draft green room

Dillingham conducted his required combine testing on Friday, clearing the way for him to become eligible to be selected in the draft.

Former Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham reportedly conducted his required combine testing, clearing the way for him to become eligible to be selected in the 2024 NBA draft.

Dillingham wasn’t able to participate in on-court testing last month at the combine because of an ankle injury. He was cleared this week from the injury and completed the requirements in front of teams on Friday at the Los Angeles Lakers‘ practice facility.

The 19-year-old was among the second group of prospects who received invitations from the NBA to attend the draft in the green room on June 26-27 at the Barlcays Center in Brooklyn, New York, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.

Teams with first-round picks each year vote on the players they believe will be drafted early, typically the top 20-25 prospects. Last year, 25 prospects were invited to the green room and only one wasn’t selected in the first round (Rayan Rupert, 43rd overall pick).

Included in the second batch of invitations were Serbian guard Nikola Topić, Duke players Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski, Miami forward Kyshawn George, USC guard Isaiah Collier, Baylor center Yves Missi and Kansas forward Johnny Furphy.

The first group of players invited to the green room included French players Zaccharie Risacher, Alex Sarr and Tidjane Salaün; UConn players Donovan Clingan and Stephon Castle; G League Ignite players Matas Buzelis and Ron Holland; and Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard.

Recent NBA mock draft sees Bulls select Miami guard Kyshawn George

In a recent NBA mock draft, the Chicago Bulls selected Miami guard Kyshawn George.

The Chicago Bulls have a chance to add some serious talent this summer with the 11th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Though this year’s draft is regarded as one of the weakest in recent history, pairing Coby White and the rest of their young core with another youngster is a great opportunity. In a recent mock draft from Kyle Boone of CBS Sports, the Bulls selected Miami guard Kyshawn George.

“Strong candidate to be a late-riser in this process,” Boone wrote. “George shot 40.8% from 3-point range and rated in the 92nd percentile as a catch-and-shoot weapon as a freshman at Miami last season, per Synergy data. Huge frame and does a little of everything that will have NBA teams intrigued.”

George is a 6-foot-7 guard known in part for his three-point shooting at the collegiate level. For a Bulls team that doesn’t have many guys who can shoot well from behind the arc, he seems like a solid target.

Chicago doesn’t need more guards, but at his height, George could definitely play up a position and give them minutes at the wing.

Miami freshman Kyshawn George to forgo eligibility, declare for 2024 NBA draft

George was the only freshman in the ACC to average at least seven points and three rebounds in fewer than 25 minutes per game.

Miami freshman Kyshawn George told Jonathan Givony of ESPN that he will forgo his remaining college eligibility and declare for the 2024 NBA draft.

George, born in Switzerland, averaged 7.6 points, three rebounds and 2.2 assists on 42.6% shooting from the field. He was the only freshman in the ACC to average at least seven points and three rebounds in fewer than 25 minutes per game (23.0).

The 20-year-old scored in double figures 12 times, including a season-high 20 points and eight rebounds on Jan. 6. He became the first Miami freshman to score at least 20 points in a game since Isaiah Wong produced 27 on Feb. 19, 2020.

George played four years with Élan Chalon in France before joining the Hurricanes. He was named to the All-U21 Espoir Pro B first team last season, averaging 17.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals for the under-21 team.

The 6-foot-8 guard is considered a potential first-round pick. He has impressed in spurts as a perimeter defender and his ability to space the floor, converting 40.8% from 3-point range on 4.2 attempts per game. He also has a good feel for the game and is a good passer.

George also represented Switzerland in the 2019 FIBA U16 European Championship Division B, averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 assists in six appearances.

The 2024 NBA draft will take place June 26-27 in New York City.

Notre Dame slips up late against Miami

Experience beats inexperience in a battle of struggling teams.

The one thing Notre Dame and Miami have in common is that both have struggled lately. Both teams came into Purcell Pavillion on Wednesday having lost four of their past five. For a game like this, one typically might expect experience to win out. That’s exactly what happened in a 73-61 Irish loss.

This contest featured five ties and 10 lead changes, but that all happened while over 80% of game time elapsed. With the Irish (7-12, 2-6) in front by three during the latter portion of the second half, the Hurricanes (13-6, 4-4) went on a 19-2 run to go up by double digits. The Irish never seriously threatened after that as they were outplayed and outclassed by a better and more experienced team.

It was the Norchad Omier show from beginning to end, and that shouldn’t be a surprise given the type of player he is. Back from an ankle injury, he scored 33 points on 12-of-14 shooting, only two points off his collegiate high and his most since joining the Hurricanes from Arkansas State. He also grabbed 10 rebounds to complete a double-double, another hallmark of his game, and recorded three steals.

Of course, Omier got a little help. Kyshawn George scored 11 points while also getting three steals. Nijel Pack had 10 points despite shooting 3 of 10 from the field, and he also dished out a game-high five assists. Off the bench, Bensley Joseph contributed 10 points.

[autotag]Markus Burton[/autotag] led the Irish with 15 points but also committed a game-high eight turnovers. [autotag]J.R. Konieczny[/autotag] had 13 points and six rebounds, and [autotag]Braeden Shrewsberry[/autotag] scored 10 off the bench.
