KSI hopes Dillon Danis ‘disappears into irrelevancy,’ regrets not choosing Tyron Woodley fight

KSI chose Dillon Danis over Tyron Woodley – and now he’s kicking himself.

[autotag]KSI[/autotag] is not happy with some of the recent choices he made.

The YouTube star regrets he canceled an agreed-upon fight with former UFC champion Tyron Woodley to take a bout against [autotag]Dillon Danis[/autotag] – which won’t happen. About a month after the matchup’s announcement, Danis withdrew.

Misfits Boxing’s Mams Taylor, who is part of KSI’s management group, said Danis withdrew from the fight because he wasn’t properly prepared.

KSI, who faces FaZe Temperrr on Jan. 14, was shocked Danis pulled out from the fight.

“I did hear whispers, especially on Twitter and a few comments here and there, being like, ‘He’s not going to show up. He’s not going to show up. He’s not going to show up. He’s not going to fight. He’s not going to fight,'” KSI said in an interview with “The MMA Hour” on Monday. “But I was just like, ‘No, man, especially with the amount of money that he was going to be getting.’ I was like, ‘There’s no way he’s just going to pull out, especially with everything he said. … There’s no way he can come with this much smoke and then pull out.’ And then he did.”

KSI said he “100 percent” regrets not booking Woodley. He originally thought the fight against Danis would be bigger.

“I was going to be fighting (Tyron) Woodley and Danis was going to fight Logan Paul,” KSI said. “And then, yeah, Logan Paul got injured. The budget got shorter of DAZN, and then we were like, ‘Oh, OK.’

“Tyron Woodley was having a little back-and-forth with the rehydration clause and the weight, so we were just like, ‘Well, we got Danis here, who’s free and is hungry and has been telling us he wants to fight.’ He was telling our manager, ‘I want to fight. I want to fight.’ So I was like, ‘OK, bet.’ Dillon Danis wants it. He’s hungry for it, and he’s going to be entertaining.

“I know between Danis and Tyron Woodley I’m going to get more entertainment from Danis because he’s just wild-and-weird stupid. He gravitates eyes towards it and makes it a big spectacle. Also, to get the MMA community into watching it. It was kind of a smart play. And I know I would just knock him out anyway.”

When asked if KSI would consider revisiting the matchup in the future, KSI said there’s no chance and will never work with Danis again.

“No, it’s done,” KSI said. “F*ck him. F*ck Dillon. I hope everyone forgets about him, and he disappears into irrelevancy.”

Dillon Danis withdraws from KSI boxing match due to being ‘underprepared,’ manager says

Dillon Danis’ return to combat sports will continue to be on hold.

[autotag]Dillon Danis[/autotag]’ return to combat sports will continue to be on hold.

According to Misfits Boxing’s Mams Taylor, who is also part of [autotag]KSI[/autotag]’s management group, Danis has withdrawn from his scheduled Jan. 14 boxing match against YouTube star KSI in London. KSI will now face fellow YouTuber Faze Temperrr.

“I got a phone call saying Dillon is pulling out of the fight,” Taylor said in a video statement. “The real reason, from what they said to me, is that he’s underprepared, he has no coach, he might be struggling with weight. For someone who cares about his reputation as much as he does, or what people think of him, I didn’t think that this would be something despite many people saying the opposite, ‘He’s not going to show up to the fight.’ They were right.'”

In a statement, KSI ripped Danis for pulling out of the fight.

“I mentioned at the press conference that Dillon was being haunted by me,” KSI said. “He made his excuses and knew he couldn’t handle what I bring to a boxing ring. This answers the question whether he’s a fighter or not. He’s a warrior all right, a keyboard warrior, and hopefully he’s learned to leave the real men to speak with their actions rather than hollow words.”

The news comes days after Danis, who skipped a pre-fight news conference last month, said in an interview with Chael Sonnen that behind-the-scenes tactics were being used to put him at a disadvantage in the ring.

After being skeptical about the “fishy” lead-up to the event, Danis recently said that if the fight did fall through, he would look to return to MMA. The 29-year-old is still under contract with Bellator but hasn’t competed since submitting Max Humphrey in June 2019.

Danis did not immediately respond to MMA Junkie’s request for comment about the situation.

Dillon Danis hints ‘fishy’ KSI boxing match might not happen: ‘They’re starting to get scared’

“They’re looking for a way out and if it does happen like that, I don’t wait for nobody. I would jump on that Bellator card.”

[autotag]Dillon Danis[/autotag] is skeptical his boxing match with [autotag]KSI[/autotag] happens.

Danis is scheduled to take on YouTuber and part-time boxer KSI at MF & DAZN: X Series 004 at the OVO Arena, Wembley in London on Jan. 14. The event airs on DAZN pay-per-view.

Speaking to Chael Sonnen, Danis said certain demands have him thinking that the fight might not even happen. Danis recently skipped a press conference in London to promote their matchup.

“I truly think that they’re in over their heads,” Danis said. “I feel like they’re just trying to handicap me, and I won’t go into these fights with these guys handicapped. Usually I really don’t care but it seems there’s a lot of fishy things going on and it’s not on my side. I’m ready to go.”

He continued, “So the fights at 177. They want me to be four pounds heavier the day of the fight by 4 p.m. So the fights at 7 or 8 p.m and they want me to weigh in at 4 p.m the day of the fight only four pounds heavier or five pounds, something stupid. Every pound that I don’t make the weight on the second day I get a penalty which is very heavy for each pound. If I make weight the day before, why do I have to make weight again the day of the fight?”

If the fight does fall through, Danis, who’s still under contract with Bellator, will look to return to MMA. The 29-year-old hasn’t competed since submitting Max Humphrey in June 2019 due to complications with knee surgery.

“It’s a lot of money to beat up a guy that doesn’t know how to fight, but I feel like this fight won’t happen,” Danis said. “I think they’re starting to get scared… they’re trying to make weird things in the contract two weeks before. I feel like they’re looking for a way out and if it does happen like that, I don’t wait for nobody. I would jump on that Bellator card, I thinks it’s March 2 or 3.”

Scott Coker wishes Dillon Danis good luck in boxing match vs. KSI: ‘You’re going to have your hands full’

“Dillon wants to go take this boxing fight and I said, ‘Good luck. You’re going to have your hands full, young man.'”

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Bellator president Scott Coker thinks boxing [autotag]KSI[/autotag] will be no easy task for [autotag]Dillon Danis[/autotag].

Danis is slated to return to competition for the first time in 43 months when he faces YouTuber and part-time boxer KSI at MF & DAZN: X Series 004 on Jan. 14 at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, which streams on DAZN pay-per-view.

Danis is known for his jiu-jitsu, which he has used to notch two wins by submission as a professional mixed martial artist. Despite his time away due to injury, Danis has kept busy with constant scuffles – including an altercation with KSI prior to a DAZN event in November. Danis and KSI were separated by security, but Danis ended up catching a right hand from MMA and boxing veteran Anthony Taylor outside.

“Dillon wants to go take this boxing fight and I said, ‘Good luck,'” Coker told MMA Junkie and other reporters after Bellator 289. “‘You’re going to have your hands full, young man.'”

[lawrence-related id=2605393]

Despite being under contract with Bellator, Danis was granted permission to compete.

“He’s still under contract, but we’ve been trying to get him to fight for a long time, and he saw an opportunity here with KSI, so I wish him luck,” Coker added. “It’s a good deal for him. I don’t want to hold him back and be that promoter, so we said, ‘Go ahead, you guys can work it out.’ And we’re going to see what happens in that fight.”

KSI vs. Dillon Danis boxing match to take place Jan. 14 in London

Dillon Danis will make his return to combat sports in January to settle his differences with KSI.

[autotag]Dillon Danis[/autotag] and [autotag]KSI[/autotag] will have a chance to settle their differences inside the boxing ring.

Danis, who is still under a Bellator contract, will return from a 43-month hiatus from combat sports competition to take on YouTuber and part-time boxer KSI following their physical altercation ahead of MF & DAZN: X Series 003 in Austin, Texas. The bout was officially announced by the promotion Saturday.

Despite being under contract with Bellator, Danis was granted permission to compete, an official of the promotion told MMA Junkie.

The fight will take place at MF & DAZN: X Series 004 at the OVO Arena, Wembley in London on Jan. 14. The event airs on DAZN pay-per-view.

Danis, 29, is undefeated through two pro MMA bouts, both of which took place under the Bellator banner. He won both fights in the first round, most recently submitting Max Humphrey at Bellator 222 in June 2016.

KSI, 29, has been active inside the boxing ring. In August, he took on two opponents in one night, defeating Brandon Scott and Luis Alcaraz Pineda in a pair of exhibition bouts at MF & DAZN: X Series 001. KSI’s first professional boxing bout was against Logan Paul in November 2019, a contest he won by split decision.

Floyd Mayweather’s objective against YouTuber Deji: ‘Give people excitement’

Floyd Mayweather’s objective against YouTuber Deji on Nov. 13: “Give people excitement.”

Floyd Mayweather, 45, is more active than most elite boxers.

The Hall of Famer stopped Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura in the second round on Sept. 25, his second exhibition of the year. And he’s not still not finished in 2022.

He’s scheduled to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Deji Olantunji – known as “Deji” – on pay-per-view Nov. 13 from Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Mayweather and Deji, the brother of celebrity boxer KSI, were in Las Vegas for a new conference on Thursday.

“I’m just glad that we’re able to come together and put another great event together for the fans,” Mayweather said. “I’ve been here so many times as far as doing big fights, and it’s all about entertainment. That’s what you’re getting on November 13.

“I’m happy to be back in the UAE to give people excitement. We’re both going to have fun and all of the people in the world are going to be entertained.”

Mayweather evidently is impressed with Deji, both in terms of his popularity and what he brings to the ring.

Deji has almost 11 million subscribers on YouTube, which, combined with Mayweather’s massive following, makes this a significant event. And while the 25-year-old from England has had mixed results in a series of exhibitions, he keeps coming back for more.

“I like his confidence,” Mayweather said, “and I like that after his first fight, he didn’t give up. He kept working hard to get better and improve.”

Deji seems almost overwhelmed by the magnitude of the moment but he knows he has a job to do.

“This is amazing,” he said. “I’m truly blessed. This is surreal. We’re making history. I don’t really have the words to properly explain how I feel. At the end of the day, I’m here to have fun and showcase my skills. We’ll see what happens in the ring on November 13.

“I always want to encourage people to never give up. I was a guy who people always doubted. But I made sure that I worked hard and carried on, because I’m never going to give up.”

Mayweather last took part in a sanctioned bout in 2017, when he knocked out Conor McGregor in 10 rounds.

Since then, he has taken part in four exhibitions. He stopped kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018, went the distance with YouTuber Logan Paul in June of last year, went the distance with sparring partner Don Moore last May and knocked out Asakura.

An invitation from Jake Paul sparks Twitter spat between Tyron Woodley, KSI

Tyron Woodley wants to box YouTuber KSI.

[autotag]Tyron Woodley[/autotag] is down to fight KSI.

The former UFC champion called the YouTuber to a fight after [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] asked Woodley if he’d be interested in boxing KSI early next year. Woodley not only accepted the challenge, but told KSI to “quit sitting on a Kotex,” and that’s when the two began going back-and-forth on Twitter.

Tyron Woodley is coming off two straight losses in boxing matches against Jake Paul – one by decision and one by knockout. Prior to that, the 40-year-old found himself on a four-fight losing streak in MMA, which marked the final chapter of his run with the UFC.

Woodley is a former UFC welterweight champion. He defended the belt four times and had a reign from 2016 to 2018. Woodley has wins over notable talent such as Darren Till, Robbie Lawler, Stephen Thompson, Carlos Condit and more.

Meanwhile, KSI, an English YouTuber and rapper, is part of the recent wave of celebrity/influencer boxing. KSI has three professional boxing wins under his belt. He defeated Logan Paul in 2019 and defeated Swarmz and Luis Alcaraz Pineda on the same night last month in London.

Could there be a boxing match between Woodley and KSI on the horizon? Check out the Twitter exchange below.

KSI knocks out Swarmz, stops pro boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda to pick up two easy same-night wins

YouTuber KSI took on the “challenge” of boxing two opponents in one night.

YouTuber [autotag]KSI[/autotag] passed the test of fighting twice in one night, and he can now say he’s defeated a professional boxer before [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag].

In what was a glorified walk in the park – or ring – for KSI, he made quick work of two opponents, opening and closing the show with stoppages. The event which took place at the O2 Arena in London was filled with similar highly-questionable quality matchups between YouTubers and influencers that resulted in ridiculous finishes.

KSI’s first opponent of the evening was British rapper Swarmz, who did his best to survive by running away from KSI’s forward pressure. The fight somehow made it into the second round, where the fight would be thankfully stopped at 28 seconds after KSI sent the rapper to the canvas with a body shot followed by a left hand.

KSI returned to the ring for the main event to face Luis Alcaraz Pineda, a 23-year-old with a professional boxing record of 2-5, according to BoxRec.

Checking the box of defeating a pro competitor couldn’t have been easier for KSI, who would see Pineda appeal to the referee after every punch landed as if it were illegal for him to be touched during the fight. Pineda was dropped three times in the opening round.

Again, somehow, the fight went into the second, and KSI continued his onslaught. After dropping Pineda for the second time in the round, the YouTuber decided to get some push-ups in while the referee counted.

This fight was allowed to see the third round. Two knockdowns later, it was mercifully stopped at 54 seconds.

“How many knockdowns does it take?” questioned the commentator. Good question.

KSI was originally scheduled to face Alex Wassabi, but was forced out due to injury, which led to “The Nightmare” taking on the challenge of facing two opponents in one night.

After winning his second “fight” of the night, KSI called out Tommy Fury and Andrew Tate, which would actually be interesting matchups, if you’re into this sort of thing. But seriously, those two potential opponents actually know how to defend themselves and throw a proper punch.

KSI also mentioned a few other YouTube personalities that he would most likely wash in a similar fashion as the two victims he made quick work of tonight.
