New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Knicks (35-25) and Cleveland Cavaliers (39-20) meet at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Sunday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Knicks vs. Cavaliers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Knicks have failed to cover in 4 straight games. They’re coming off a 110-99 loss vs. the Golden State Warriors Thursday as the Under (223) hit. G Jalen Brunson had a team-high 27 points for New York, which failed to cover as a 3.5-point home underdog.

The Cavaliers covered as 7-point favorites with a 110-100 win over the Detroit Pistons Friday with the Under (219) cashing at Little Caesars Arena. The cover snapped a 7-game against-the-spread (ATS) skid for the Cavaliers, who have won 3 of their last 4 games straight up (SU).

Each team has covered once in 2 meetings this season, and the Under is 2-0. The road team has covered in both games, and the Cavaliers won SU as 5.5-point underdogs with a 95-89 upset in the most recent meeting Nov. 1.

Knicks at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 105, Knicks 104

Moneyline

The Cavaliers (-250) should win at home, but I can’t recommend risking $250 to win $100 on a team that is 4-4 SU in its last 8 games, all as favorites.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

It’s tough to trust either of these teams to cover a spread right now. The Knicks are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games and the Cavaliers are 1-7 in their last 8.

New York trailed by as many as 17 last time out, but it was able to cut the lead to just 4 points with 6:35 remaining. The Cavaliers, on the other hand, led by just 7 with 1:22 remaining at Detroit after choking away the majority of a 26-point, 4th-quarter lead.

Cleveland’s poor 4th quarter last time out worries me more than the Knicks falling victim to a hot-shooting night from Warriors G Stephen Curry, who had 31 points on 8-of-18 shooting from 3.

LEAN KNICKS +6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Call me square, but the Under has hit in the last 7 meetings between these teams, and that is not a trend that I’m looking to fade.

The Under is also 7-1 in the last 8 Knicks games, and they keep finding ways to score as few points as possible while playing respectable defense. New York has scored under 100 points in back-to-back games and allowed 111 or fewer in 4 of its last 7.

BET UNDER 212.5 (-110).

New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers Game 5 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Knicks try to close out their best-of-7 series against the  Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Tip for Game 5 of the Round 1 Eastern Conference series is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Knicks vs. Cavaliers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Knicks lead the series 3-1.

The Cavaliers were on the short end of a 102-93 loss in Game 4, as Cleveland has been pushed to the brink of elimination. The Cavs shot 46.8% from the field, while turning it over 12 times.

PG Darius Garland did his job in Game 4, hitting 9-of-16 from the field to finish with 23 points and 10 rebounds. SG Donovan Mitchell struggled, though, hitting just 5-of-18 from the field, and 0-for-4 from behind the 3-point line, ending up with just 11 points and 6 turnovers.

The Knicks shot 45.2% from the field, and it was just 64.3% from the free-throw line. However, the biggest difference for New York was the fact it outrebounded Cleveland at a 47-33 margin.

PG Jalen Brunson continued his tremendous series, going for 29 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists, while dropping in 5 triples. SG RJ Barrett stepped up with 26 points in Game 4, too.

Knicks at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 102, Knicks 99

Moneyline

The Cavaliers (-225) look to stave off elimination at home in Game 5. While I think Cleveland is able to get it done, and at least extend its season by 1 game, risking more than 2 times your potential return is not a recommended play.

PASS.

Against the spread

The KNICKS +5.5 (-110) catching nearly 3 buckets is the play. New York has won and covered in this series 3 times, including an outright win in Game 1 as a 5-point underdog.

New York is 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 games overall dating back to the regular season, while going 5-1-1 ATS in the last 7 against winning teams.

Cleveland is 1-4 ATS in the last 5 games at home, and 1-6 ATS in the last 7 games in the conference quarterfinals round.

Over/Under

UNDER 202.5 (-110) is the lean, as the books continue to adjust the total number as this series has gone on.

The Under is a perfect 4-for-4 so far in this series. In Game 1, the total was set at 216, and it was an easy Under. But the time we got to Game 4, the total was set at 203.5, and the game still went well Under.

Keep hitting the Under in this series until further notice.

New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

The New York Knicks (44-33) will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (48-29) Friday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Knicks vs. Cavaliers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

On Wednesday, the Knicks covered as 6-point home favorites in their 101-92 win over the Miami Heat. New York is 4 games behind Cleveland for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Cavaliers lost 120-118 to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday despite covering as 3-point road underdogs. Cleveland is only 2.5 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.

This will be the 4th meeting between the Knicks and the Cavaliers this season. The home team has won the 1st 3 meetings (New York is 2-1) and the Over/Under is 1-2.

Knicks at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 112, Knicks 104

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Cavaliers are expected to secure the victory on Friday, but taking their money line isn’t worth the risk at the current odds (-170).

Against the spread

With Randle sidelined for multiple weeks for the Knicks, CAVALIERS -3.5 (-118) is the pick in this potential 1st-round playoff preview. Even with Allen likely out for Cleveland, F Evan Mobley, G Donovan Mitchell, and G Darius Garland are enough to win by at least 4 points at home.

The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 2 days of rest and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 222.5 (-115).

With Randle out, the Knicks could struggle to generate enough offense to score on the Cavaliers, who are No. 1 in defensive rating. Both of these teams are also bottom 5 in pace as fewer than 222 points have been scored in 4 of the last 5 meetings.

The Knicks are 4-0 to the Under in their last 4 games overall, while the Cavaliers are 4-1 to the Under in their last 5 games playing on 2 days of rest.

New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Knicks (23-24) travel to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Monday to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (28-19). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Knicks vs. Cavaliers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Cavaliers come into this game as the best-covering team in the NBA with a 29-15-3 record against the spread (ATS) this season. They’re also 8-4-1 ATS as a home favorite. However, Cleveland has only covered four times in its last 10 games despite winning seven of them, going 4-5-1 ATS across that span.

The Knicks have been one of the most disappointing teams this season, sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference. They’re 23-24 ATS as well as straight up and are 5-6 ATS as road underdogs.

Knicks at Cavaliers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 108, Knicks 101

Money line

PASS on the money line. The Cavaliers are the better team, but -270 is too pricey. Those aren’t playable odds for two teams that both entered the season with playoff expectations.

Against the spread

BET on the CAVALIERS -6.5 (-107).

This becomes an even stronger play if Robinson doesn’t play for New York. The Cavaliers, behind rookie F Evan Mobley and C Jarrett Allen, have the size to give New York major issues.

Cleveland is also allowing the second-fewest points per game. The Knicks rank 23rd in true shooting percentage, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see them heavily struggle to make shots against Cleveland’s length.

While New York does rank in the top ten in offensive rebounding, their main avenue at second-chance points, the Cavaliers rank eighth in rebounding percentage.

I’d back the home side here considering their length and defensive aptitude.

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 201.5 (-112).

This total is just too low for a Knicks side that has been more focused offensively this season.

They’ve scored at least 100 points in seven of their last 10 games. While the Knicks might be 20-27 O/U this season, they’re 11-10 on the road, so they’ve managed success with Overs away from Madison Square Garden.

They average 104.1 points per game while the Cavaliers allow around 102. Similarly, the Cavaliers are just 18-29 O/U this season, but they’re 3-2 O/U in their last five outings. Cleveland has topped 100 points in eight of its last 10 games.

Given how low this total is, marginal success by both teams should be able to push the final score over.

New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Knicks (5-7) visit the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-7) Friday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Knicks-Cavaliers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

New York comes in on a four-game losing skid (0-4 against the spread) with the last one being a 116-109 home loss to the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday. The Knicks have been terrible offensively lately and their 109-point performance vs. the Nets was the first time in four games New York scored more than 90 points. Knicks PF Julius Randle has continued to play at an All-Star level, scoring a game-high 30 points on 13-for-25 shooting with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Cavaliers have been struggling lately as well, losing three straight and five of their past six games, including a 117-87 whooping at home against the Utah Jazz Jan. 12. Cleveland was involved in the James Harden four-team trade this week that sent him to the Nets with the Cavaliers receiving former Brooklyn players C Jarrett Allen and PF Taurean Prince.

The Knicks have won and covered the spread in four straight vs. the Cavaliers dating back to last season. They met earlier this season—Dec. 29—and the Knicks won in Cleveland 95-86 as 3.5-point underdogs.

Knicks at Cavaliers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 103, Cavaliers 91

Money line (ML)

Both teams would like to end their losing streaks but only the KNICKS (-125) have the bodies to do so. New York’s backcourt has been a real weakness this season but Cleveland will be without both starters and they shipped PG Dante Exum to Houston as part of that Harden deal.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, Exum was second on the team in efficiency differential and expected wins. The Knicks, for all their flaws, know who they want to be and are much healthier.

Randle had his way with the Cavaliers earlier this season, posting a triple-double: 28 points on 9-for-16 shooting (4-for-4 from three), 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Cleveland’s best interior defender is Allen, who probably won’t be ready to go for this game.

GIMME KNICKS (-125) for 1.5 units.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD. Stick with the money line, don’t be cheap.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a lean on UNDER 196 (-105). Knicks-Cavaliers opened with a total around 203 on most books and it’s currently been bet down to the current price. Meaning we are getting the worst of the number.

The reason for the Under action: The Cavaliers have played in 10 straight Unders and eight of the last nine Knicks games have gone Under the total. If you asked me last night, I would’ve loved the Under. Unfortunately, at this price, it’s wise to PASS.

Knicks at Cavaliers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 121, Cavaliers 116

Money line (ML)

The KNICKS (+135) are coming off a stunning 130-110 beatdown of the Milwaukee Bucks Sunday and will face a team much closer to their usual tier Tuesday. The Cavs have started a perfect 3-0 but a 118-94 win over the Philadelphia 76ers was their only win over a 2019-20 playoff team.

The potential absence of Burks looms large for New York, as his 20.7 points per game rank second on the team, but PF Julius Randle (23.7 PPG) and PG RJ Barrett (17.7 PPG) are capable of shouldering the load.

Cleveland has been overperforming expectations while ranking third in effective field-goal percentage (57.8) and fifth in true shooting percentage (60.0). Regression in those areas opens the door for some profitable fades when backing an opposing underdog.

Against the spread (ATS)

Back the KNICKS +3.5 (-110) for 3 points of insurance in the event of a loss.

The Cavaliers’ first two wins of the season – against the Charlotte Hornets (121-114) and Detroit Pistons (128-119) – were both played within a 10-point margin before they blew out the Sixers by 24 points.

New York won the 2019-20 head-to-head series 3-1 with both teams finishing in the Eastern Conference basement.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the OVER 216.5 (-110) on what’s oddly the lowest projected total of Tuesday’s NBA slate.

While we’re expecting the Cavaliers’ shooting prowess to drop off sooner than later, they’re still averaging 122.3 PPG through three games and have a fair bit of room for error against a Knicks defense allowing 113.3 PPG. The Over partially hedges against our above two picks of the Knicks.
