Kingdom Hearts and Skyrim are your PS Plus games for November

PS Plus games for Extra and Premium subscribers include RPG classics, Ratchet and Clank, and an award-winning indie

Extra and Premium subscribers are getting quite the RPG game haul in the PS Plus games for November starting on Nov. 15, 2022, with Skyrim and every Kingdom Hearts game headlining the lineup. Sony announced the month’s roster in a new PlayStation Blog post, but if keyblades and dragons aren’t quite your thing, there’s still plenty of variety to dig into.

PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers get both Kingdom Hearts Re:Mix games, which include Kingdom Hearts 1, Kingdom Hearts 2, the interlude Chain of Memories game, the PSP exclusive Birth by Sleep, and Re:Coded, along with 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts 3 itself. The rhythm game Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is also included in the mix.

That’s a lot of RPG, but there’s plenty of time to download and play later. These and all other games in your PS Plus library remain available as long as your subscription is active

For a change of pace, you can also get Oddworld: Soulstorm, Chorus, and Skyrim Special Edition. You can also download the Anniversary Edition for free once you have Skyrim Special Edition in your library, which includes an also-free current-gen upgrade for PS5 owners.

Finally is What Remains of Edith Finch, winner of 2017’s best narrative award at The Game Awards. Explore the ancient Finch house as Edith and try to uncover what happened to the rest of the family – and why Edith is the only one left.

Premium subscribers also get a bundle of PS3 games that includes the original Ratchet and Clank trilogy, along with Deadlocked and Future: Tools of Destruction.

Those with the basic subscription tier can download Nioh 2 and Lego Harry Potter Collection for free as well.

Kingdom Hearts fans debate through wrestling signs

There’s no better place to argue about JRPG lore than at wrestling events.

Ask any long-time Kingdom Hearts fan if the series makes sense, and you’ll get dozens of different answers. Some of which appear on national television during professional wrestling broadcasts, apparently.

Before we delve into the nitty-gritty, a brief explainer: pro wrestling show attendees love propping up goofy signs during events, often with messages that have nothing to do with the squared circle. It’s all part of the show and a proud tradition going on for decades.

As first spotted by Fanbyte, two Kingdom Hearts took the aforementioned does-it-make-sense debate up through wrestling signage. During AEW’s Rampage event on April 16, 2022, someone had a sign that read, “Kingdom Hearts is not that complicated.”

Fast forward to WWE Hell in a Cell on Sunday, and another Kingdom Hearts fan clapped back with “Explain 368/2 days then,” referring to Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Yes, that is the game’s actual title.

Check out both signs for yourself below.

What can you even say? Somehow this argument went across promotional lines. Incredible. Square Enix better these two legends shouts out in the credits of Kingdom Hearts 4.

In fairness, I think Kingdom Hearts mostly makes sense, having only played the second game and Birth By Sleep. That’s my gentle way of saying I know next to nothing about the series’ serpentine overarching narrative that spans two decades and 13 games on dozens of platforms.

Kingdom Hearts 4 officially announced, here’s the first trailer

Square Enix has just announced Kingdom Hearts 4, a new chapter in the long-standing action RPG series.

Square Enix has just announced Kingdom Hearts 4, a new chapter in the long-standing action RPG series.

The game has been revealed as part of the Kingdom Hearts’ 20th-anniversary celebration, at the end of a seven-minute trailer, and is said to be part of a “new storyline titled the Lost Master Arc.”

The Japanese developer and publisher has not disclosed details such as launch window or platforms yet. Considering Kingdom Hearts 3 was released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, there’s a chance the newest game in the series might be coming to the same family of consoles and the PC.

The trailer only says there’s “magic in the making” at Square Enix right now, which could easily be a hint at the development process still taking a few years before completion. The footage itself is “subject to change.”

In the video, you can see Sora waking up after a seven day-sleep, in a brand new “afterworld” called the “Quadratum” – “a large, expansive city set in a gorgeous, realistic world unlike anything ever seen before in the Kingdom Hearts series.”

Square seems to acknowledge fans’ disappointment at Kingdom Hearts III’s ending, as the trailer claims that “if this isn’t the ending you desired, if it brings you despair, then leave this world for another.”

The first gameplay footage included in the trailer shows Sora fighting a giant shadow monster during a spectacular combat sequence, complete with the usual UI elements fans have gotten used to over the years.

At the end of the clip, Goofy and Donald Duck make a quick appearance, too, seemingly looking for Sora in a dark environment before getting spotted by… someone.

A “mysterious new character” is also introduced alongside the familiar cast, called Strelitzia, the girl who seemingly awakens Sora in the trailer.

Kingdom Hearts III was the end of a journey 14 years in the making, considering KH2 was launched in 2005.

Even though we didn’t hear a specific launch date nor even a year, it’s likely fans won’t have to wait that long before they see the newest iteration of the franchise, anyway.

We don’t know when more details will be revealed yet, but with Dark Road reaching its “finale” in August 2022, there’s a chance we might learn more around the same time.

Square Enix announces Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary event details

Simple and clean facts.

The peculiar mash-up of JRPG tropes and Disney nostalgia that is Kingdom Hearts  will turn 20 soon, and Square Enix is holding a special event in its honor.

The Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary is happening on April 10, 2022, in Tokyo, Japan. The event will have a mini-concert, a live Q&A chat with the development team, and some sort of exhibition. Square Enix confirmed that the show will not be livestreamed, but a video will come after the fact.

It’s hard to say if there’ll be any big announcements at the event, but many are hoping for Kingdom Hearts 4, mainly since it appeared on Nvidia’s GeForce Now leak last year. However, considering there will not be a stream, I wouldn’t advise holding your breath.

Kingdom Hearts hasn’t been in the limelight since Sora joined the cast of Smash Bros. Ultimatenews that made fans go wild. Since then, however, there’s not been a peep from Square Enix.

This year, the company is releasing a few  RPGs that might tide you  over until a hypothetical 4th entry manifests. Perhaps the next one can be about Goofy squaring off against Square Enix Yosuke Matsuda for  being interested in NFTs.

Here’s why Sora joining the cast of ‘Smash Bros. Ultimate’ is a big deal

Do you want the simple and clean details? We’ve got you covered.

So, you don’t know who Sora is or why he’s  joining Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, eh?

For starters, Sora is the protagonist of Kingdom Hearts, a popular JRPG series where Sora, along with Donald Duck and Goofy, run around battling evil beings called Heartless. Yes, you read all that right. Kingdom Hearts is a crossover series between Disney and Square Enix, the developer and publisher responsible for classics like Final FantasyChrono TriggerNier, and loads more.

The original Kingdom Hearts came out on the PlayStation 2 back in 2002, and the series has shipped over 30 million copies worldwide  since then. So despite Sora maybe not being a household name, the character is popular among RPG (and Disney) enthusiasts alike.

Oh, and he’s voiced by none other than Haley Joel Osment. As in the “I see dead people” kid from The Sixth Sense. Osment has been voicing Sora since the first game. That’s 12 games over 20 years!

Okay, we’ve laid out who Sora is, so why is it a big deal that he’s part of Smash Bros Ultimate, then? The simple answer is Smash Brothers is a Nintendo franchise, while Kingdom Hearts’ mainline games have historically been exclusive to PlayStation platforms. However, that’s not the case anymore, as the series  recently made its way onto PC.

Oh, and in conjunction with Sora coming to Smash Brothers Ultimate, Square Enix announced that the core Kingdom Hearts series is coming to Nintendo Switch next year.

During Tuesday’s Smash Brothers Ultimate broadcast, game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that Sora had been the most requested character for years now too. And now he’s finally part of the roster!

So yeah, that’s why everyone is losing it over Sora’s inclusion downright momentous for many people. Not to mention that his move sets in Smash Brothers Ultimate just look cool as all hell too.

This has been a long time coming, that’s for sure.

Sora from ‘Kingdom Hearts’ joined the cast of ‘Smash Bros. Ultimate’ and fans went wild

Simple and Clean better be on the soundtrack.

After years of fan campaigning, Sora of Kingdom Hearts  fame is coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Nintendo announced on Tuesday that everyone’s favorite keyblade wielder is joining the roster, and fans went bananas.

Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s  game director, was quite excited to finally reveal the 82nd and final character to be added to the game. Primarily because fans had wanted Sora added to Smash Brothers  before Ultimate  itself was even announced. Well, it finally happened, and Twitter could barely contain its excitement. Can you blame them, though? Some have been waiting for this for well over a decade!

Check out Sora’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate announcement trailer for yourself below.

It’s still a surreal sight to see.

Of course, it’s one thing to talk about fan frenzy, and it’s another to witness it first-hand. So below, you’ll find a handy little curated list of how people are reacting to Sora in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Most of it is overwhelmingly positive, with a little bit of salt sprinkled in for good measure from DOOMCrash Bandicoot, and, um, Waluigi fans sad that their favorite characters didn’t make the cut. Regardless, the memes are incredible.
