Carlos Prates wants Khaos Williams next: ‘Nothing personal against him, just business’

Carlos Prates calls out Khaos Williams following his brutal KO of Li Jingliang at Saturday’s UFC 305.

PERTH, Australia – [autotag]Carlos Prates[/autotag] wants to make the matchmakers’ job easier, so he’s got a suggestion for his next outing.

Following an impressive KO win at UFC 305, Prates (20-6 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has set his sight on [autotag]Khaos Williams[/autotag] for a welterweight clash before year’s end. The Brazilian striker thinks this matchup lends itself for a show and maybe even a Performance of the Night bonus.

“I think he’s a good opponent, a good striker,” Prates said at the UFC 305 post-fight press conference. “And to be honest, I almost buy my own house in Brazil, so if I don’t get the bonus today, for sure if I fight him, maybe in December, I will get the bonuses. Nothing against him, nothing personal against him, just business, and it is what it is.”

Williams issued a response to the callout on X, and it sounded like he was in the idea.

Prates did end up getting a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his brutal knockout of Li Jingliang. Although he became the first man to knock out Jingliang (19-9 MMA, 11-7 UFC), Prates is hesitant to call it his best career performance.

“I’ve had before really good performances,” Prates said. “I think last fight was a really good performance. I don’t know, but I really like this one because this was a really good opponent. He’s a really tough opponent and a good striker, so yeah, I’m happy, but I don’t know if this was the best performance of my career.”

Why Khaos Williams didn’t expect quick KO of Carlston Harris at UFC Fight Night 241

Khaos Williams explains why he was surprised by his quick KO win over Carlston Harris at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 241 co-headliner.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Khaos Williams[/autotag] didn’t expect a quick night at the office, but he’s glad he got one.

The UFC welterweight made quick work of [autotag]Carlston Harris[/autotag] in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 241. Williams (15-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) knocked out Harris (19-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) with a brutal right hand in less than two minutes into the first round.

It was a surprising result, as Williams expected more resistance from his opponent, especially away from his own strength.

“I feel amazing,” Williams said at the UFC Fight Night 241 post-fight press conference. “I wanted an early night, and I got an early night, but I was prepared to go 15 minutes if I needed to. I was surprised it went how the way it went. I was surprised he didn’t try to shoot on me or none of that. He wanted to strike, so I was surprised.”

This was Williams’ first fight in 2024. He had also only fought once in 2023, once in 2022. The 30-year-old is hoping to make up for lost time and be more active in his fighting career. As far as the opponent, Williams has no preference.

“I want all the smoke, whoever they put in front of me. It don’t matter.”

UFC Fight Night 241 video: Khaos Williams clobbers Carlston Harris for ultra-violent knockout

Khaos Williams brought the violence at UFC Fight Night 241 as he folded Carlston Harris then landed a coffin punch.

[autotag]Khaos Williams[/autotag] brought the violence to the UFC Fight Night 241 co-main event and left [autotag]Carlston Harris[/autotag] semi-conscious on the canvas.

A big right hand in the pocket by Williams (15-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) dropped Harris (19-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC), and a follow-up punch ended it at the 90-second mark of Round 1. The welterweight bout took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

With the win, Williams has won back-to-back fights and four of his most recent five. In defeat, Harris has a two-fight winning streak snapped.

Khaos Williams vs. Carlston Harris prediction, pick, start time, odds for UFC Fight Night 241

Will Khaos Williams or Carlston Harris emerge victorious in the UFC Fight Night 241 welterweight co-main event?

[autotag]Khaos Williams[/autotag] and [autotag]Carlston Harris[/autotag] meet Saturday in the co-feature of UFC Fight Night 241 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Khaos Williams vs. Carlston Harris UFC Fight Night 241 preview

Williams (14-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Harris (19-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) set the table for the main event in this explosive welterweight co-feature. … Williams enters on the heels of a split decision over Rolando Bedoya last May, marking a return to the win column. He will look to string together a pair of wins for the third time in his UFC career. … Harris brings a two-fight winning streak into this co-main, having defeated Jared Gooden by decision last March and Jeremiah Wells by submission last August.

Khaos Williams vs. Carlston Harris expert pick, prediction

The co-main event in Las Vegas features a welterweight showdown between Williams and Harris.

Despite not being entirely sure why this is a co-main event, this bout should be exciting for as long as it lasts.

Williams, who is no stranger to the knockout, is a devastating counter-puncher who likes to blitz in combination. But given the submission prowess of Harris, I’ll be curious to see how Williams’ takedown defense holds up.

Although an early Williams knockout wouldn’t shock me, the American’s propensity to either clinch or follow fighters to the floor makes it hard for me to pick him here.

Add in the fact that this fight will be taking place in the smaller octagon of the UFC Apex, and I’ll side with the superior grappler to achieve his win conditions.

The pick is Harris by first-round submission.

Khaos Williams vs. Carlston Harris odds

The oddsmakers and the public are slightly favoring the American, listing Williams (-134) and Harris (+110) via FanDuel. Williams is 2-2 as a favorite in the UFC, with both losses coming by decision. Harris is 2-1 as an underdog in his UFC career, with both wins coming by stoppage.

Khaos Williams vs. Carlston Harris start time, how to watch

As the co-feature bout, Williams and Harris are expected to make their walk to the octagon around 8:40 p.m. ET (5:40 p.m. PT). The fight streams live on ESPN+.

UFC Fight Night 241: Khaos Williams vs. Carlston Harris odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 241 odds between Khaos Williams vs. Carlston Harris, with MMA picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

In a 3-round welterweight bout on the main card, Khaos Williams and Carlston Harris meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 241 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 99 and UFC Vegas 92 — at the UFC’s Apex Facility in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC Fight Night 241: Williams vs. Harris odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The prelims begin at 4 p.m. ET and can be viewed on ESPN+, while the main card starts at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Records: Williams (14-3-0) | Harris (19-5-0)

The veteran Williams picked up a split-decision win over Rolando Bedoya at UFC 288 back in May 2023. He has won 3 of his past 4 fights, including a KO/TKO against Miguel Baeza in Round 3 in Nov. 2021. He has ended up going the distance in 4 of his past 5 fights, though.

Harris tapped out Jeremiah Wells in Round 3 last time out on the Sandhagen-Font card in Aug. 2023. He has won 4 of his 5 fights since arriving at the UFC, with 4 of the 5 fights ending in either KO/TKO or submissions. He won by unanimous decision against Jared Gooden in his only fight to go the distance with the company.

Williams has a slight 1-inch reach edge, and he has a tremendous 5.77-to-2.93 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. Harris is much more accurate with those strikes, however, landing 62.01%, while Williams is more of a flailer, landing just 42.60% of his significant strikes. Harris also has a 0.82 submission average.

UFC Fight Night 241: Williams vs. Harris picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

WILLIAMS (-135) is a veteran worth backing. While Harris (+110) has some impressive stats, outside of the Gooden fight, which ended up going the distance, his opponent list hasn’t been terribly impressive.

Williams has wowed the judges with his technique and skill, with 2 of his past 3 victories coming via unanimous decision. And 4 of his past 5 fights have been decided by the judges, so if you like Williams to win, you should like him to get it done by decision, too.

WILLIAMS BY DECISION (+550), for a chance to multiply up by 5½ times, is too tempting to pass up.

Over/Under (O/U)

No: Will the fight go the distance? (-250) is a little on the expensive side, costing you more than 2½ times your potential return.

OVER 1.5 ROUNDS (-160) is a good play, though. Again, Williams has ended up going the distance in 4 of his past 5 fights. Harris hasn’t needed the help of the judges very often, but he hasn’t fought an experienced veteran like Williams, either.

Khaos Williams’ prediction for UFC Fight Night 241: Submission, KO or ‘take his soul from his body’

Khaos Williams enters Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 241 co-main event against Carlston Harris with a violent mindset.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Khaos Williams[/autotag] enters Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 241 co-main event against Carlston Harris with a violent mindset.

UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby knew what he was doing when he pitting Williams (14-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) against Harris (19-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) in the welterweight bout at the UFC Apex (ESPN+). Both men have already delivered some spectacular highlights in their individual careers, and there’s a good chance of another one this weekend.

“I’m ready to go 15 minutes, but all my fights, I don’t see none of my fights going the distance,” Williams told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday’s media day. “When I go into a fight I don’t see none of them going the distance. I just feel like whoever is in front of me, the guy isn’t going to last. All it takes is one shot if you make a mistake.

“Whether I submit him or whether I test that chin our and take his soul from his body, he not going to last. But I know you can’t knock everybody out. But that’s just what I plan on doing. I don’t want it to go to a decision.”

Williams, 30, enters UFC Fight Night 241 with three victories in his past four fights. He gets some spotlight in the co-headliner slot, and plans to take advantage by delivering his best.

“Regardless, I’m going to bring it,” Williams said. “Whether I’m the first fight, the last fight, the co-main event – I’m going to bring it just like I’m the main event.”
