A former Nebraska running back recruit is headed to the SEC. Four-star prospect Kewan Lacy has committed to Missouri.

The running back had been an early recruit for Matt Rhule but decommitted in late October after receiving increased interest in his recruitment due to a strong senior season.

“Dear Husker nation, I want to thank you for the support and the opportunity to come play the sport I love at the University of Nebraska and thank you to all the coaches for recruiting me and showing love with that being said I am decommitting and my recruitment is 100% open”

He chose the Tigers over Alabama and Ole Miss.

Huskers lose commitment from Texas RB Kewan Lacy

For the second time this week, Nebraska has lost a commitment from their 2024 recruiting class

For the second time in less than a week, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have lost a commitment from their 2024 recruiting class.

Lancaster, Texas running back Kewan Lacy announced on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, his decision to decommit from head coach Matt Rhule and the Husker football program. The decision comes as Lacy’s recruitment over the last several weeks has seen an uptick thanks to a strong senior season.

“Dear Husker nation I want to thank you for the support and the opportunity to come play the sport I love at the University of Nebraska and thank you to all the coaches for recruiting me and showing love with that being said I am decommitting and my recruitment is 100% open”

Lacy was considered a three-star prospect by most of the recruiting industry, including 247 Sports, Rivals, and ESPN. On3 is particularly high on the 6-foot-0, 205-pound tailback, rating him as the 166th-best prospect nationally and the 13th-best running back in the country.

With Lacy no longer committed to the program, the Cornhuskers hold 25 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, the first full recruiting cycle class under head coach Matt Rhule. While Lacy is the second decommitment from the program this week, it hasn’t been all bad news for the program over the last week. Last Friday, the Huskers picked up a commitment from three-star legacy safety Caleb Benning, an Omaha native.

Nebraska commit receives scholarship offer from the SEC

An SEC power is heavily recruiting a Nebraska running back commit.

An SEC power is heavily recruiting a Nebraska running back commit. Kewan Lacy of Lancaster, Texas, received a scholarship from the Florida Gators late last week.

Lacy committed to Nebraska back in June. He had received over 30 offers, and the scholarship from the Gators earlier this month is the latest. The four-star recruit has 859 scrimmage yards in six games this season and nine total touchdowns.

It does not appear that Lacy is considering switching his commitment, as he told On3 that his relationship with the coaches is the reason why he’s committed to Nebraska.

“It’s like family over there, and it’s a NFL system there. Half the coaches have been in the NFL to coach, and that’s somewhere I would like to be. I feel Coach EJ can develop me right as a young man and a player, and I picture myself doing great things.”

Nebraska’s class of 2024 currently holds a top 25 national ranking by all three major recruiting services.
