Celtics legend reveal details from internal locker room fight

The Boston Celtics legend discussed what led to a locker room fight between the entire team during the big four era.

When Doc Rivers was the head coach of the Boston Celtics, he had some exceptional talent at his disposal. The quartet of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, and Ray Allen helped lead the team to a championship in 2008, along with an NBA Finals appearance in 2010. There’s no doubt that it was one of the best teams Boston had at their disposal in recent memory.

However, it would appear there was a legitimate competitive edge within the locker room. During a recent episode of the “KG Certified” podcast, Rivers, Garnett and Pierce discussed a locker room brawl involving the whole team following a game against the Indiana Pacers.

In the episode, the trio share the details behind what led to the brawl and who was on each side of the argument.

Is this the year the Boston Celtics hang Banner 18?

After a long time banging on the door — one time even getting their foot in — the Celtics look like the best ball club in the Association.

Is this the season the version of the Boston Celtics led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown finally break through to win it all? After a long time banging on the door — one time even getting their foot in — the Celtics look like the best ball club in the Association halfway through the league’s 2023-24 season. But it’s what comes after that will make or break hanging a banner this season.

Two players as qualified as anyone is to judge whether a version of the Celtics is truly ready to win it all are Hall of Fame alumni Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, having done that very thing in 2008.

The pair recently weighed in on what they are seeing from Boston so far this season, and whether we will finally see Banner 18 hanging in Boston this summer on a recent episode of the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast.

Check out the clip above to hear what they had to say.

The birth of the Boston Celtics’ Big Three according to Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett

Ainge made bold moves to bring star talent to Boston by adding Garnett and Allen to Pierce, and the rest was, as they say, history.

The Boston Celtics formed one of the most dominant trios in NBA history with Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen in the late 2000s. This powerhouse team was very well constructed through the combined efforts of coach Doc Rivers and team president Danny Ainge.

Rivers and Ainge had a strong partnership built on mutual trust and respect. Though they sometimes disagreed on personnel decisions and basketball strategy, they always presented a united front, and their synergy was critical to the team’s success. Ainge made bold moves to bring star talent to Boston by adding Garnett and Allen to Pierce, and the rest was, as they say, history.

Now, on a recent episode of the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast, KG, Pierce, and Doc reconvened to talk about the origin of the 2008 title team.

What were Kevin Garnett’s and Paul Pierce’s best moments of 2023?

Here are the best moments of the KG Certified podcast from 2023.

The Boston Celtics enjoyed a stellar 2023. They made it to the Eastern Conference Finals and followed that up with a flurry of trade moves that positioned them as arguably the most talented team in the league. Still, as we learned during the 2019-20 season, all the talent in the world doesn’t matter unless everybody’s on the same page.

Fortunately for the Celtics, the 2023-24 roster appears to be locked in. They closed out 2023 strong and ensured there were plenty of high points to pick from throughout the calendar year. It would appear some of the team’s former players have also enjoyed a strong 2023.

In the latest episode of the “KG Certified” podcast, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett look back at some of their best moments on their media journey, from being in Las Vegas to taking their show on the road. Fans have been enjoying getting to know two of their favorite players on a deeper level.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett on the NBA’s most unstoppable players

In their heyday, Boston Celtics Hall of Famers Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were some of the most unstoppable players in the NBA, but who do they see in that role today?

In their heyday, Boston Celtics Hall of Famers Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were some of the most unstoppable players in the NBA, but who do they see in that role today? Per the Ticket and the Truth, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns is one of them, as is new Los Angeles Clipper James Harden.

Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies, Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder and of course Jayson Tatum of the Celtics made the cut for these two iconic Celtics alums as well.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast, Garnett and Pierce took a deep dive into the best players of today’s NBA; check it out in the clip embedded below.

Doc Rivers discusses his time with the Celtics

Doc Rivers discussed his coaching career and his tenure in Boston during a recent podcast interview.

Doc Rivers was the last coach to lead the Boston Celtics to a championship. The 2008 roster is legendary to Celtics fans and is often used as a measuring stick for the current iteration of the team that’s currently leading the NBA in terms of record and has the deepest roster in the league.

However, since leaving Boston, Rivers has been unable to recapture the success that he enjoyed with Boston. He had an unsuccessful spell with the Los Angeles Clippers before moving to the Philadelphia 76ers, where his old team consistently stood in his way and limited his team’s ability to make deep postseason runs.

In a recent episode of the “KG Certified” podcast hosted by 2008 champions Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Rivers joins the show as a guest and gives a wide-ranging interview.

Daniel Theis, Paul George on how Kevin Garnett and Dirk Nowitzki changed basketball

Theis appreciated how Garnett approached every game with the mentality to destroy his opponent, even if it was just a regular season or pickup game.

When it comes to German basketball, a pair of figures stood out growing up for former Boston Celtics big man Daniel Theis. The more obvious example most can guess given Theis’ position and nationality is Hall of Fame Dallas Mavericks big man Dirk Nowitzki. The other? The Big Ticket of course.

It figures a gritty player like Theis would gravitate to the play of Kevin Garnett, his fellow Boston big man alumnus. Speaking on a recent episode of his Los Angeles Clippers teammate Paul George’s “Podcast P” show, the Salzgitter native admitted he grew up idolizing Garnett instead of Nowitzki like most Germans. He was attracted to KG’s intense mindset and competitiveness.

Theis appreciated how Garnett approached every game with the mentality to destroy his opponent, even if it was just a regular season or pickup game.

Check out the link embedded above to hear what PG and Theis had to say about these two NBA luminaries and their effects on their careers.

Udonis Haslem has a warning for two Celtics legends

Udonis Haslem had some strong words when discussing Boston Celtics legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

The Boston Celtics and Miami Heat have a legitimate rivalry. The two franchises have endured countless postseason battles. Things got especially heated during the LeBron James “Heatles” era. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were the Celtics’ two spearheads whenever the franchises went toe-to-toe against each other.

In a recent episode of “The OG’s” podcast, Heat legend Udonis Haslem, who spent two decades on South Beach, shared his distaste for Garnett and Pierce. He noted that he has no issue with Boston’s current generation of talent but would willingly fight his former foes, regardless of where they were.

Haslem and Garnett represent a different era of the NBA. During their time in the league, it was common for rivalries to continue off the court, as players chose their sides and kept their competitive spirit.

Do the Celtics need to be wary of the Detroit Pistons?

Do the Boston Celtics need to be wary of a trap game when they face the Detroit Pistons on Thursday, December 28?

The Boston Celtics will face the Detroit Pistons on Thursday (Dec. 28.) Detroit is currently on a 27-game losing streak and will be heading into their contest against the Celtics with a point to prove against arguably the best team in the NBA. As such, there’s a legitimate concern that Boston could be heading into a “trap game.”

In a recent episode of Kevin Garnett‘s “KG Certified” podcast, he is joined by Paul Pierce and Tony Allen to discuss the mentality of a losing team like Detroit and whether their focus is truly on winning basketball games. They also question if Detroit’s players are too focused on their individual stat lines rather than finding ways to win as a collective.

With so many questions hanging over Detroit’s heads, the Celtics will head into their game against the Eastern Conference strugglers full of confidence. Still, Boston will need to remain focused and take the Pistons seriously, as, despite their struggles, the roster is full of high-quality young talent who are capable of swinging the flow of a game.

Celtics legend Paul Pierce wants a 10-day contract

Are these two perennial jokers for real? Or are they just kidding around?

Is Paul Pierce thinking about making an NBA comeback? The legendary Boston Celtics small forward recently sat down with teammate Kevin Garnett on an episode of the Showtime Basketball “Ticket and the Truth” podcast to talk about a potential return to the league, citing Pierce’s workout regimen honed over the summer with Celtics star of today Jayson Tatum, as well as his new step-back moves, and his readiness to help a team in crunch time.

Of course the Big Ticket encouraged Pierce to consider a return to the NBA, citing his shooting skills and physical strength as valuable assets to a modern team looking for end of bench help and a veteran presence.

Are these two perennial jokers for real? Or are they just kidding around?

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear their cases for a Truth return, and decide for yourself.
