Texas A&M will host North Carolina State transfer WR this week

North Carolina State WR Kevin Concepcion is headed to College Station later this week

Texas A&M has landed two playmaking wide receivers from the transfer portal in the last three days, as former five-star and Texas Tech WR Micah Hudson announced his intentions on Sunday, while former Mississippi State freshman wideout Mario Craver announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Yet, Elko and his team are still working on expanding the wide receiver lineup for the 2025 spring roster. On Tuesday, Elko emphasized that the Aggies have no plans to stop adding talent in the coming weeks.

One name to remember is North Carolina State transfer wide receiver Kevin Concepcion, who will reportedly visit Texas A&M and Miami later this week. Earlier this month, Concepcion was scheduled to visit the Aggies before a rescheduling postponed his official visit, but On3’s Pete Nakos has now confirmed that he is headed to College Station.

In two seasons with the Wolfpack, Concepcion recorded 124 receptions, 1,299 yards, and 16 touchdowns, bringing a blend of speed and excellent route running despite dealing with quarterback issues throughout his collegiate career.

While Concepcion is a slight favorite to land with either Alabama or Colorado, this significant development could end in the Aggies landing three of the top wide receivers from the portal in the coming weeks.

Texas A&M is a finalist for elite North Carolina State transfer WR

Texas A&M is a finalist to land former North Carolina State WR Kevin Concepcion

Texas A&M’s 2024 season ended with a disappointing loss to rival Texas, resulting in an 8-4 finish during head coach Mike Elko’s first season with the program. However, the future is still very bright, as the focus has shifted toward landing talent from the transfer portal.

Elko and his staff are aware of the portal’s challenges, as every top program in the country will be vying for the same players, especially at the wide receiver position. However, the Aggies are making headway with several top options, and as of Wednesday, Texas A&M is a favorite to land former Texas Tech WR Micah Hudson.

However, former North Carolina State WR Kevin Concepcion has placed the Aggies in his Top 6 transfer list, joining Alabama, Miami, Colorado, Florida State, and South Carolina.

While Concepcion was scheduled to visit College Station earlier this week, plans changed, but his interest in the Aggies is genuine, and a future visit is nearly guaranteed.

In two seasons with the Wolfpack, Concepcion recorded 124 receptions, 1,299 yards, and 16 touchdowns, bringing a blend of speed and excellent route running despite dealing with quarterback issues throughout his collegiate career.

Texas A&M will reportedly host elite wide receiver out of the transfer portal this week

Texas A&M will reportedly host one of the top wide receivers in the transfer portal starting on Tuesday

Texas A&M’s 2024 season ended disappointingly after losing to rival Texas 17-7, leading to another 8-4 finish, while the Longhorns are headed to the College Football Playoff in their first season as an SEC team.

While the Aggies will face USC in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 27, head coach Mike Elko and his staff are busy this week after the transfer portal officially opened on Monday. Starting on Tuesday, several visits are lined up with some of the top athletes in the portal.

After it was announced that former Texas Tech wide receiver Micah Hudson would visit College Station later this week, On3’s Steve Wiltfong confirmed that the 8th-ranked player in the portal, former North Carolina State wide receiver Kevin Concepcion, will visit the Aggies on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Texas A&M is desperate for wide receiver talent after this season’s poor results and lack of explosiveness in the passing game, which resulted from needing more talent at the position last offseason. However, it’s nearly impossible not to improve with the amount of veteran talent in this year’s portal.

In two seasons with the Wolfpack, Concepcion recorded 124 receptions, 1,299 yards, and 16 touchdowns, bringing a blend of speed and excellent route running despite dealing with quarterback issues throughout his collegiate career.

Alabama reportedly among list of teams for elite transfer wide receiver

Alabama reportedly a team to watch for elite transfer portal wide receiver.

While the transfer portal has yet to officially open, there are still many names across college football who have already in fact announced their intentions to enter when the window opens.

Among that group are numerous players who will certainly be sought-after in the portal as well, one of which is NC State wide receiver Kevin Concepcion.

Having recently declared for the portal as well, Concepcion also reportedly has a list of teams that he is now expected to look at according to On3’s Pete Nakos, one of which is the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alongside the Crimson Tide, Nakos also mentions the Auburn Tigers, Colorado Buffaloes, Kansas State Wildcats, and Penn State Nittany Lions among the teams the wide receiver is expected to look at.

A transfer from NC State, Concepcion has been one of the ACC’s top wide receivers across the last two seasons where he has hauled in a combined 124 receptions for 1,299 yards and 16 touchdowns. Concepcion has also rushed for 356 yards and two touchdowns on 60 attempts during that span, while also seeing time on special teams.

This season, Concepcion hauled in a combined 53 receptions for a NC State team that went 6-6 during the regular season, which translated to 460 yards and six touchdowns. Concepcion also rushed for 36 yards and two scores on 19 attempts, as well as returned five punts for 45 yards.

At the moment, Concepcion ranks as the No. 2 overall player available in the transfer portal according to 247Sports, trailing only Alabama defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis.

As the portal officially opens in the coming week, keep an eye on the NC State standout as a potential Alabama target.

Tar Heels have yet another disappointing performance against NC State

UNC played poor football on Saturday night, shooting itself in the foot yet again. NC State took advantage for win number nine.

Would 2023 finally be the year UNC beats NC State in football again?

The answer was clear from opening kickoff – a resounding NO.

NC State, a team known more for its defense than its offense, hung 504 yards on the Tar Heels’ porous defense in a 39-20, Wolfpack victory.

UNC has been exposed a lot in recent weeks, but just how embarrassing was Saturday night in Raleigh?

Typically, even the hottest of teams will have an occasional drive stall out.

Not the Wolfpack. Not against the Tar Heels, who couldn’t stop a turtle from 100 yards downfield.

Dual-threat quarterback Brennan Armstrong played like an all-star for NC State, completing 22-of-31 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns. Kevin Concepcion gave Carolina trouble at both running back and receiver – leading all rushers with 55 yards, plus all receivers with 131 yards and two touchdowns.

How badly did UNC play on offense?

To sum it up in short, Drake Maye didn’t complete a single pass in the first quarter. He did finally end his night with 254 passing yards and two touchdowns, but a majority of that yardage and scoring came in garbage time.

Carolina star running back Omarion Hampton, who entered the game with six straight, 100-yard outputs and tied for the FBS lead in rushing yards, finished with a disappointing 28 yards on nine carries.

We all knew winning in Raleigh would be a tall task for UNC, a place it hasn’t won since a 41-10 win in 2019.

But we also figured Carolina would be more competitive in a rivalry game.

NC State statistical leaders through one game

Does anyone on this list concern you?

NC State is having a very peculiar season with its schedule. It opened the 2023 season with a win over independent UConn and now will face a second straight independent in Notre Dame. It then will face VMI before playing its ACC schedule except for one game against Marshall. Talk about one quirk after another.

Like the Irish, the Wolfpack have a quarterback finishing out his eligibility with them after spending the remainder of his career at a different school. In this case, the Wolfpack’s quarterback spent the previous five seasons at Virginia and even has experience facing the Irish (including on this writer’s wedding day). Of course, that’s only one player. There are many others who could give the Irish fits in what many are saying is their first real test of the season.

The Wolfpack have played only one game, but here’s who you might want to look out for when they face the Irish:

4-star Carolinas WR drawing Clemson interest, looking to visit

A four-star Tar Heel State wideout, who has been drawing interest from Clemson, would like to make his way to Tiger Town at some point this summer.

The Clemson Insider recently caught up with Julius L. Chambers High School (Charlotte, N.C.) 2023 WR Kevin Concepcion, who updated his Clemson interest and gave the latest on his current recruitment.

“They have recently came to Charlotte and (Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham) had texted me and he said that, ‘I’ve been hearing your name a lot,'” Concepcion said. “Right now, we don’t have as strong as a relationship that I would’ve hoped for, but it’s good for real.”

Concepcion was supposed to visit Clemson last month but wasn’t able to make it. He would like to be able to reschedule his visit for some time this summer but indicated that he’s waiting to hear back from the Tigers regarding some dates.

If Concepcion was able to earn an offer from Clemson, what would that mean for him and his recruitment?

“It would mean a lot because that’s big-time D1 football,” Concepcion said regarding a potential offer from Clemson.

As far as the rest of his recruitment is concerned, Concepcion mentions schools like Chapel Hill (UNC), N.C. State, Penn State, West Virginia and a few more, as those that are currently recruiting him the hardest.

Right now, Concepcion is planning on taking official visits to the University of North Carolina and Penn State this summer. He’s keeping those other three official visits open at the moment, in order to see what offers he’s able to earn between now and the end of the summer.

Concepcion plans on making his commitment either right before his senior season or during it.

After losing in the state championship last season, Concepcion would love to put together a historic season that results in him going out a winner at Chambers.

Getting a better feel for Concepcion and his game, the talented wideout described himself as a “dog” and someone who can play all three receiver positions and do so at a high level.

Rivals considers Concepcion (6-0, 178) to be the nation’s No. 38 ranked wide receiver and the No. 8 overall prospect in the state of North Carolina in the class of 2023.
