Bucs loved the pass-catching potential of RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers opted for Vanderbilt running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn in round three of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Buccaneers may have surprised a few people last night when they decided to take Vanderbilt running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn with the 76th overall pick in round three. With one of the top-ranked running backs still on the board in Utah’s Zack Moss, the Bucs opted for Vaughn not only for his dynamic running ability, but because of the pass-catching potential he provides out of the backfield.

It’s no secret that Bruce Arians, and Brady in particular, likes to utilize running backs in the pass game, and it seems that aspect of Vaughn’s game was what drew the Bucs to him.

Best of all, Vaughn seems confident in his pass-blocking ability, too, which I’m sure will come in handy next season defending a 43-year-old quarterback.

Welcome to the big time, Vaughn!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed to upgrade their backfield and did so tonight in the third round of the NFL draft by taking Vanderbilt running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn.

Vaughn, who rushed for 1,028 yards and nine touchdowns last season, may have been a surprise selection given that Utah running back Zack Moss was still available. But the Bucs like the fact that Vaughn can catch out of the backfield, something that will go a long way in a Tom Brady-led offense.
