Staff predictions for week three matchup between Kentucky and Georgia

The staff makes their picks for Saturday’s match-up with Kentucky football and Georgia.

Last week, Kentucky football suffered a brutal 31 – 6 loss to South Carolina that shook the program from the coaches to the fans. Now, they follow that up with a visit from the top ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

The Wildcats haven’t beaten Georgia since 2009, and have suffered a number of blowout losses in the past 14 seasons. Prior to the South Carolina loss, fans had hopes that they could keep it close, and possibly pull off a big upset. Things have changed.

Former Bulldogs quarterback Brock Vandagriff meets his old team, but comes into the game with a decided lack of momentum. He is also a little bit banged up. Meanwhile, a Kentucky offensive line that was dominated last week will face a very good Georgia defense.

Nearly everyone is going to be picking Georgia to win. Here is what the staff at UKWildcatsWire thinks will happen.

Georgia 34 – Kentucky 10

Kentucky’s defense is good, and could slow down the Bulldogs offense somewhat. However, the Wildcats offense seems destined to struggle against a defense that is loaded in elite players. Vandagriff would love to have a big day, but the Kentucky offensive line will have to hold up, and I’m not sure they’ll be much improved over last week.

Georgia 38 – Kentucky 14

There’s probably nothing Mark Stoops’ team could have done last week to make me pick a Wildcats upset. I might even be crazy to give Kentucky two touchdowns after last week’s embarrassing loss to South Carolina, but there’s nowhere to go but up, right? Right?

Georgia 31 – Kentucky 14

Carson Beck and the Bulldogs will be too much for the struggling Wildcats. Expect to see Vandagriff and Wimsatt at quarterback, but it won’t matter much who’s under center because the number one team in the nation will be too much to handle in every aspect of the game.
