Staff predictions for the week five matchup between Kentucky and Ole Miss

Here are the staff picks for the Kentucky football matchup with Ole Miss in week five.

Kentucky football plays another top five SEC team this weekend when the Wildcats travel to meet the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels are 4 – 0 on the year, and ranked fifth in the country in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

The game will be one of the toughest of the season for Kentucky, but they have reason to be hopeful. In week three, the Wildcats narrowly lost to the top ranked Georgia Bulldogs, led by a fantastic defensive effort. They’ll need to be even better versus one of the nation’s top offenses in Ole Miss.

Virtually nobody is going to give the Wildcats a chance in this game. What does the staff of UKWildcatsWire think? Here are their predictions:

Vance Meek – Lead Writer

Ole Miss 27 – Kentucky 13

Kentucky’s defense is certainly capable of slowing down Ole Miss and quarterback Jaxson Dart. However, the Wildcat offense hasn’t been able to get going against good teams. The game could be close at halftime, led by a strong running game for Kentucky, but eventually, a lack of touchdowns will lead to a tired defense, and the Rebels will hit a few big plays.

Ole Miss 38 – Kentucky 20

A couple of months back, the new College Football 25 game simulated a one-point Kentucky win in the Dynasty Mode I was playing. Unfortunately, this isn’t a video game, and while it’s hard to imagine a Mark Stoops team having three losses before the end of September, that’s the brutal reality of their 2024 schedule. Ole Miss’ high-scoring offense is too good for Kentucky to slow down. I like the Rebels’ chances to keep scoring in this game.
