Kendrick Bourne learned this valuable lesson in win over Jaguars

Kendrick Bourne noted he has to take smarter hits.

During the New England Patriots win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne learned a valuable lesson.

Bourne played a big part in New England’s victory, catching six passes for 76 yards. in addition, he ran the ball twice for 17 yards. Bourne also learned to be more cautious when running across the middle of the field.

The wide receiver began to spin out of a tackle attempt from one Jaguars defender. However, linebacker Jimmy Jones made sure he finished the play. Jones initiated contact with his helmet, and managed to get Bourne down.

In his media availability on Wednesday, the wide receiver noted he had to be more cautious in regards to the hits he takes.

“I didn’t know that guy was there. He was running from behind me so when I spun, that’s when I saw him, when I finally like turned halfway. And then boom,” Bourne said, via CBS. “But that was definitely the hardest I’ve ever been hit. But it was like cool, because I’ve never been hit that hard. So I was like, ‘OK, now I know what not to do and when to do it.’”

Bourne will look to continue his contributions in the Patriots passing game, as the Patriots wrap up the regular season against the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.

Matthew Judon hilariously pokes fun at Christian Barmore once again

Linebacker Matthew Judon took to Twitter to hilariously troll Christian Barmore.

New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon and defensive tackle Christian Barmore have taken lighthearted jabs at each other throughout the season. On Monday, Judon was back at it again.

Judon retweeted a video of the song “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross. He then followed up by asking if Vandross and Barmore shared a resemblance. Naturally, other teammates chimed in. Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne in particular seemed to like the comparison.

Barmore and Judon have been key cogs in the New England Patriots defense throughout the course of the year. Barmore has  41 combined tackles on the year, while Judon has 12.5 sacks on the season.

In addition to chemistry on the field,  it seems that the chemistry is carrying off the field as well.

Kendrick Bourne responds on Twitter to video of Bill Belichick cracking up on sideline

Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne had a hilariously simple response to the video of Bill Belichick smiling.

With the New England Patriots clinching a playoff berth on Sunday, everybody was all smiles. That included head coach Bill Belichick, who has led the Patriots to their first playoff berth since 2019.

Known for his stoic and serious demeanor, Belichick was able to crack a few smiles as the Patriots defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars by a 50-10 margin.

Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne had a big day in his own right. He caught five passes for 76 yards and rushed the ball twice for 17 yards.

As of the video of Belichick smiling circulated around the Internet, Bourne offered his own take on the video via Twitter.

Bourne’s 776 receiving yards on the season match a career-high while his five touchdown catches tied the most he’s had in his career. Part of the Patriots offseason spending spree, the wide receiver has proven to be a dependable target, as the Patriots look for consistency heading into the playoffs.

Kendrick Bourne explains what the Patriots offense’s biggest problem is

Kendrick Bourne openly discussed what he thinks the biggest issue is for the Patriots.

Kendrick Bourne suggested that he’s identified the New England Patriots’ biggest problem on offense.

The receiver may have had a smaller role in the team’s game plan against the Buffalo Bills after ending up on COVID-19/reserve and missing all of practice in Week16, but he seemed to feel he had a good grapple on what the team needs to fix to rally at the end of the season.

“Just keeping ourselves out of third-and-long, I think, is the biggest thing,” Bourne said. “We’ve just ended up there a little bit too frequent, and that’s what we’ve got to fix.”

The Patriots have, indeed, struggled on third-and-long this year. On third-and-7+, the Patriots have converted just 18 of 77 (23.4%). That’s a brutal percentage for New England. (As a point of comparison, the Chiefs are 19 of 64 (29.7%) and the Bills are 28 of 76 (36.8).)

It’s not like they’ll change that weakness at this point in the season — but they can make an effort to keep themselves out of that situation.

“It’s nothing crazy,” he said. “We’re still making plays. We’re still pretty confident — we’re very confident. It’s just about executing on every play, not taking any play for granted, and that’s how you’ve really got to think about it, because you never know which play is going to be the difference.”

Patriots make flurry of moves ahead of Sunday vs. Bills

The New England Patriots made a bunch of moves on Saturday.

Ahead of Sunday’s contest with the Buffalo Bills, the New England Patriots were busy making roster moves. Some players were activated to come back, while others were put on injured reserve.

Among the notable transactions, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne was activated from COVID-19/reserve. Linebacker Josh Uche was activated from injured reserve. Uche was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 17, as he was dealing with an ankle injury. This season, the linebacker has had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery in nine games.

Bourne has been a key piece of the New England Patriots wide receiver room this season. On the year, he has 45 catches for 667 yards and five touchdowns.

The Patriots placed defensive end Deatrich Wise on COVID-19/reserve. They also elevated receiver Kristian Wilkerson, defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale and cornerback DeAngelo Ross from the practice squad.

In what has been a fast-moving couple of days, the New England Patriots will take the field Sunday, with the AFC East division on the line.

Damien Harris in; Nelson Agholor and Rhamondre Stevenson out vs. the Bills in Week 16

The Patriots hade a busy weekend filled with transactions.

The New England Patriots had a smattering of good and bad news as they prepared for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in Week 16.

New England will have running back Damien Harris and receivers N’Keal Harry and Kendrick Bourne, all of whom had their statuses in question for the game. Harris missed last week with a hamstring injury and was questionable this week. Harry was questionable after suffering a hip injury in Weel 15. And Bourne returned to the active roster after spending time on the COVID-19/reserve list this week.

The team activated linebacker Josh Uche from injured reserve on Saturday.

The inactive list included receiver Nelson Agholor, safety Joshuah Bledsoe, cornerbacks Joejuan Williams and Shaun Wade, tight end Devin Asiasi and quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson was inactive after landing on the COVID-19/reserve list this weekend

Defensive end Deatrich Wise will also be out this week after landing on the COVID-19/reserve list on Friday.

Because they had so many players out, the Patriots elected to elevate the following players off the practice squad: receiver Kristian Wilkerson, defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale and cornerback DeAngelo Ross.

The Patriots and Bills kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Nelson Agholor absent, N’Keal Harry present for Patriots practice in Week 16

N’Keal Harry’s presence at practice is a positive sign for the Patriots WRs.

The New England Patriots receiver situation may be slightly better than initially expected. Receivers Nelson Agholor (head) and Kendrick Bourne (COVID-19/reserve) were absent from practice on Wednesday, but N’Keal Harry was present. Perhaps Harry has a chance at playing against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

The absences of Agholor and Bourne were to be expected. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson’s absence, however, was a surprise. The notable attendees included running back J.J. Taylor after a trip to COVID-19/reserve and running back Damien Harris, who practice last week but missed the game with a hamstring injury.

The Patriots injury report will provide more detail about the reasons for absences and the levels of participation.

The Patriots and the Bills kick off on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

Bill Belichick gives encouraging update on WR Kendrick Bourne

Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne could have the opportunity to play Sunday.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqby79hc76t2s390 player_id=none image=https://patriotswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne could return to play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, per Bill Belichick. The wide receiver was put on the COVID-19\reserve list on Monday.

Speaking in his media availability on Wednesday, coach Belichick did not rule out the possibility that the wide receiver could return. On the year, Bourne has 45 catches for 667 yards and five touchdowns. He recorded three catches for 44 yards against the Indianapolis Colts last Saturday.

Per NFL rules, Bourne would be able to return faster if he is asymptomatic and vaccinated.

With the Patriots experiencing a myriad of injuries at the wide receiver position, Bourne’s availability would give the wide receiving group a boost.

Kickoff for Sunday’s game is set for 1:00 PM, in what is a game for playoff and divisional positioning.

4 Patriots placed on COVID-19 list ahead of Bills matchup

4 #Patriots placed on COVID-19 list ahead of #Bills matchup:

The highly-anticipated matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots will be affected by COVID-19.

Both the Bills (8-6) and Patriots (9-5) announced positive tests for the virus on Monday.

The Patriots placed four players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, and linebackers Harvey Langi, Cameron McGrone, and Ronnie Perkins.

They join Patriots tight end Dalton Keene and guard Yasir Durant on a growing designation.

The Bills are currently short-handed and hope a few key contributors test negative multiple times before Sunday and no additional positives show up. Starting offensive linemen Dion Dawkins and Jon Feliciano testes positive on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Rotational defensive pieces, linebacker Tyrel Dodson and defensive end A.J. Epenesa are on the reserve list as well.

Bourne would be a massive loss to a banged-up New England receiving group. Nelson Agholor left their game on Saturday with a head injury and N’Keal Harry needed to be helped off the field after taking a high hit.

Bourne leads the Patriots with 667 receiving yards and is second on the team with five touchdowns.

The three linebackers have combined for three tackles all season. Langi has all three.

A total of 47 players were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday as a result of a positive test. The most the NFL has ever had in a single day.

Patriots face uncertainty at WR position heading into Week 16 against the Bills

Receiver Jakobi Meyers may have a lot of responsibilities on Sunday.

The New England Patriots aren’t in trouble at their receiver position — not yet. But the situation is troubling.

The team placed Kendrick Bourne on the COVID-19/reserve list on Monday, which puts his status in doubt for Sunday. If he’s vaccinated and COVID-positive, there’s a chance he could play by testing out with back-to-back negative test results. If he’s unvaccinated and was merely a close contact, he could also return to the facility before the game. But there are plenty of scenarios where he could not make a return. And even if he is vaccinated, it has been uncommon this year for COVID-positive players to test out within the same week that they tested positive.

So that should get us looking at the other starters: Nelson Agholor and Jakobi Meyers. While Meyers is healthy (so far as we know), Agholor suffered a head injury in Saturday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He exited the game and did not return.

Past them, the Patriots have N’Keal Harry and Gunner Olszewski. But Harry, like Agholor, is dealing with a head injury. Olszewski has never shown any in-game potential or competence at the position.

So the Patriots’ situation looks like this….

53-man roster:

Agholor (head)
Meyers
Bourne (COVID-19/reserve)
Harry (head)
Olszewski

Practice squad

Kristian Wilkerson
Tre Nixon

The Patriots have elevated Wilkerson, but he looked far more comfortable running jet sweeps than downfield receiving routes. Nixon, a seventh-round draft choice, has yet to see NFL game action.

If Bourne, Agholor and Harry cannot play, the Patriots will basically have to rely upon Meyers and their two tight ends, Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry. Running backs Brandon Bolden and Rhamondre Stevenson may help lift the load in the passing game — and they may have to, with Damien Harris missing last week with a hamstring injury.

It’s not a great week for New England in terms of injuries and it’s rough timing, with the Patriots and Buffalo Bills battling for the top spot in the AFC East on Sunday.
