The Denver Broncos are signing undrafted quarterback-turned wide receiver Kendall Hinton, according to Wake Forest’s football account on Twitter.
Hinton (6-0, 195 pounds) transitioned to wide receiver as a junior but still occasionally filled in at quarterback when needed. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projected he would be a sixth- or seventh-round draft pick so Hinton is a notable undrafted free agent signing.
“There is enough toughness and athleticism to bank on as a Day 3 selection with the potential to develop into a solid NFL backup,” Zierlein wrote of Hinton on NFL.com before the draft.
In four seasons at Wake Forest, Hinton completed 53 percent of his passes for 1,504 yards with eight touchdowns against seven interceptions. He rushed 188 times for 881 yards and 12 touchdowns and caught 79 passes for 1,062 yards and four touchdowns. Most of his receiving production came in 2019.
It looks like Denver will have to make some roster cuts to make room for undrafted free agents. We’re tracking all of their UDFA signings here.
