The Eagles announced on Friday that the Kelly Green uniforms will return for two games, like last season. The beloved uniforms will return in Week 9 (Nov. 3) on Sunday Night Football against the Jacksonville Jaguars and again in Week 17 (Dec. 29) against the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to the Kelly Green uniforms, fans should expect a fun Kelly Green pregame show. Those watching at home will notice the Eagles throwback logo appearing where the televised scoreboard is.

Not that it matters (but it does), but the Eagles went 2-0 while wearing the throwback uniforms, defeating the defensive-powered Miami Dolphins in Week 7 and the Buffalo Bills in a nail-biting overtime win in Week 12.

“The Kelly Green jerseys will remain in collaboration with Nike,” the Eagles website read. “Paying homage to the storied past of the franchise and remembering historic moments while invoking new memories among the fanbase,”

The Sunday Night Football matchup will mark the second time in a row that the Eagles have revealed the iconic alternative look in primetime.

Philadelphia Eagles can’t wear Kelly Green uniforms until the 2023 season

Hours after the NFL announced a new policy allowing teams to wear their throwback alternate helmets, details are now emerging on just when the Birds will be able to wear Kelly Green as a home option.

According to Rob Tornoe of The Inquirer, Philadelphia will have to wait until the 2023 season to break the alternates back out.

An Eagles spokesperson said the team was “excited about the possibilities and is beginning to look into its options, as the policy was just released. Any new developments will be announced at the appropriate time.”

But sources with the team said the NFL deadline for uniform selection for the 2022 season has already passed, and the Eagles submitted their black alternate jersey. Any new helmet the team could wear would have to work with those uniforms. So barring a change from the league, fans won’t get to see the Birds in kelly green until 2023 at the soonest.

Following the announcement on the NFL’s policy on alternate uniforms, the Eagles, Buccaneers, and Titans were among the teams that many fans want to see in throwbacks.
