Mother of Floyd Mayweather’s children died of accidental overdose

Josie Harris, who was mother of three of Floyd Mayweather’s children and the boxer’s ex-girlfriend, died from an accidental drug overdose.

Josie Harris, who was mother of three of Floyd Mayweather’s children and the boxer’s ex-girlfriend, died from an accidental drug overdose, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.

The specific cause of death — “mixed drug toxicity” — stemmed from Fentanyl and Alprarzoam, according to the Medical Examiner-Coroner. Fentanyl is an opiod and Alprarzoam is sold under brand names such as Xanax.

Harris was 40 when she was found dead March 10 in her car that was parked in the driveway of her Southern California home. The cause of death was not released at the time because law enforcement placed a security hold on the case.

The hold has been lifted and case status on the Medical Examiner-Coroner’s website is listed as closed.

Harris’ relationship with Mayweather was turbulent. She filed a domestic battery report against Mayweather in 2010 and it led to the boxer spending two months in prison in 2012.

In a 2014 interview with USA TODAY Sports, Harris said she suffered physical abuse from the boxer on “six occasions,” the worst coming in September 2010. During that incident, Harris said, Mayweather entered her home as she slept, yanked her to the floor by her hair, then punched and kicked and screamed profanity at her in front of their children.

In an interview with Katie Couric in 2015, Mayweather called Harris a drug abuser. Harris, in turn, sued Mayweather for $20 million for defamation.

Floyd Mayweather opens up about personal losses, role in world

Floyd Mayeather opened up about losing his uncle and mother of his children and pledged to “help this world become a better place.”

Floyd Mayweather let down his guard and opened his heart in an Instagram video.

Mayweather spoke about the tragic losses of Josie Harris, the mother of his three children, and Roger Mayweather, his uncle and trainer. He also pledged to donate to coronavirus relief efforts.

“I haven’t really had a chance to talk to the world and talk to the people, because I’ve been dealing with a lot,” Mayweather said in the video. “As far as dealing with the loss of the mother of my children — she was a significant other, a great woman, a great person — and dealing with [the loss of] a great trainer, a father figure, Roger Mayweather.”

Mayweather’s relationship with Harris was far from perfect, as he served 60 days in prison after pleading guilty to a reduced battery domestic violence charge in 2010. Harris also filed a defamation lawsuit against Mayweather worth $20 million after an interview with Katie Couric in which he said Harris was on drugs when he “restrained her,” resulting in the domestic violence charge. The two were set to meet in court this past December.

Mayweather also pledged to donate money to help those struggling financially from the economic crisis caused by COVID-19. He didn’t specify exactly how much money or where exactly it will be donated, but he said that the only thing that matters is he’s doing his part to help.

“I’m affected by this,” Mayweather said of the pandemic. “It hurts to see what the world is going through, but I want us to stick together and keep believing. No one is perfect. I’m not perfect, and I strive to be a perfectionist every day, but no one is perfect. I make mistakes all the time, and the only thing I can do is try to become better.

“But I’m here to help this world become a better place. So, with everything going on, I’m going to continue to do my part, and I don’t have to show the world what I’m doing. I can do stuff behind closed doors. It’s not about the money, and the money that I will be giving up will be to feed the people and help the people that don’t have a lot as of right now in this situation.

“I will continue to give back, and I will never talk about it. As long as God knows that I’m doing a good deed, that’s what’s important to me.”

The mother of three of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s children is dead.

The body of Josie Harris, 40, was found Monday night at her home in Valencia, California, according to a TMZ report posted Wednesday morning.

Harris was pronounced dead by paramedics after police found her unresponsive in her car at about 9:30 p.m. PT, TMZ reported.

Law enforcement officials don’t believe the death is a result of foul play. It is being treated as a death probe.

Mayweather, who had a relationship with Harris for about 15 years, was convicted of a domestic-violence charge related to an incident in September 2010 involving Harris, who was living in Las Vegas at the time. Mayweather served two months in jail at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas in 2012.

Mayweather, a five-division champion and Forbes’ highest-paid athlete of the decade (2010-2019) with $915 million, denied assaulting Harris in an interview with Katie Couric in 2015.

Harris filed a lawsuit alleging defamation against Mayweather in May 2016. She was seeking $20 million. The case remains unresolved.

She is survived by a daughter, Jirah Mayweather, and two sons, Koraun Mayweather and Zion Shamaree Mayweather.
