Ja Morant and Karl-Anthony Towns’ dads shared some delightful trash talk with each other and we need more of this

The AAU dads of the NBA are back.

I know everybody has a podcast these days when everybody doesn’t really need to have a podcast these days, but can we please get Tee Morant and Karl-Anthony Towns Sr. on a podcast or simulcast together or something?

These two just make magic happen when they talk, man. It’s pretty incredible.

Ja Morant’s dad and Karl-Anthony Towns’ dad have had a friendly back-and-forth going since game 1 of the Timberwolves-Grizzlies series and it has just been the best.

They’re literally getting up to go at each other in the middle of the game like they’re still AAU basketball dads. Except it’s the NBA. It’s amazing.

It all started during game 1 when Tee Morant told ESPN’s cameras “we ain’t ducking no smoke. Memphis, Memphis, Memphis,” after jawing with Karl-Anthony Towns Sr.

Now, the two are back at it again, but this time they’re doing sideline interviews with NBA TV’s Chris Haynes while talking perfect smack.

Towns Sr. said “they get a little lead, now they want to talk,” to which Morant responded “we gave y’all that first win so y’all would feel like you in the playoffs,” and, quite frankly, this is perfect.

They’ve even got a friendly wager placed on the series. If the Grizzlies win, Towns has to wear a Morant jersey. If the Timberwolves win, Morant has to wear a Towns jersey. Either way, we all win.

Listen. Here is what I’m proposing. Let’s just mic these two up and put them on an NSFW simulcast so they can talk unfiltered trash to everyone. If we can sit for hours and listen to Peyton and Eli Manning talk about whatever, we can almost certainly listen to these two, right? Right. Somebody pull some strings and make this happen.

It’s a layup. The people absolutely love this trash-talk between the two of them and I can’t blame them.

Karl-Anthony Towns shared an emotional Mother’s Day moment with his father in wake of his mother’s COVID-19 passing

Just a raw, gut-wrenching moment.

It’s been a year for many of us, none more-so than Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns not only tested positive for COVID-19 himself in January, he also lost his mother Jacqueline Cruz-Town to the virus last April, and six other family members over the last year as well.

On Mother’s Day, Towns shared an extremely emotional moment with his father — Karl-Anthony Towns Sr. — before the Minnesota Timberwolves game on Sunday.

This was Towns’ second Mother’s Day after losing his mom to COVID-19 complications, and his first Mother’s Day in season with the Timberwolves as the NBA was on pause last spring when his mother tragically passed away.

Towns and his family have lost so much over the last year and it’s gut-wrenching to see this display of raw emotion caught on camera for the world to see.

In speaking with Mark Medina of USA Today, Towns Sr. spoke on spending the day with his son and what it means to them both.

“It’ll be emotional. But it’ll be rewarding because she’ll be happy to know we’re still doing the stuff that she would want us to do.”
