Kansas State at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. The Red Raiders are looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 82-77 overtime loss at home against Oklahoma State. It was their second loss in the past four games, although the first loss Dec. 17 was a one-point setback to Kansas. The Red Raiders enter on an 0-6 ATS skid.
  2. Texas Tech enters play 0-5 ATS in five games as a favorite of 25 or less points this season, and it is 3-2 SU in those outings. The Red Raiders also 0-3 ATS inside the conference. Kansas State hasn’t been much better against the number, going 2-8 ATS so far this season, and just 1-2 ATS inside the conference.
  3. The Wildcats are coming off a 67-60 loss against TCU in Manhattan, Kan., as 4-point underdogs, hitting the Under (131). The Under has connected in three straight for K-State. The Wildcats are also just 1-4 ATS in the past five against teams with a winning overall record.

Kansas State at Texas Tech: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas Tech 71, Kansas State 57

Money line (ML)

Texas Tech (-3000) should have no problems with Kansas State, but there is no way to ever justify risking 30 times your potential return. It’s amateur hour, and a failing long-term strategy. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

KANSAS STATE +16.5 (-110) has struggled to cover the number this season, but Texas Tech has also failed to cash consistently – its 0-6 ATS slide was mentioned above. The Red Raiders are averaging just 73.5 PPG to rank 161st in the country, so covering a number this high is just not a good bet. Take the underdog catching more than eight buckets.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 125.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play, as the line is just a tad bit too low. Yes, the Red Raiders aren’t exactly lighting it up on offense, but they are hitting a decent 73.5 PPG. The Red Raiders are allowing just 56.3 PPG this season, which ranks fifth in the country in scoring defense. Even so, the Red Raiders will do enough on offense to help this total inch across the finish line for a narrow Over result.
