Texas Tech is allowing only 62.7 points per game (ppg)(45th) while Kansas is scoring 78.1 ppg (63rd). Kansas is allowing only 64.5 ppg (79th) while Texas Tech is averaging 80.1 ppg (37th).

Kansas at Texas Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 75, Kansas 72

Moneyline

BET TEXAS TECH (+100).

Kansas is favored in this game, and it should be, but Texas Tech is a different team this season with a solid offense to match its stellar defense.

No one likes going to Lubbock to play. It is in the middle of nowhere and teams find it extremely hard to focus. Kansas, coming off a hard-fought win against Oklahoma State, will find this out the hard way. Kansas might win a 2nd national title in a row, but it will come after a loss in this one.

Against the spread

PASS.

Texas Tech is my pick to win the game, but I would rather make a wager on the moneyline with plus-money value. This number has gone down from 2.5 at open to 1.5, already moving towards a pick ’em, so you might as well take the plus money on the moneyline while you can — it may not be there at the tip.

Over/Under

BET OVER 141.5 (-110).

This is another line that has moved since it opened, starting at 139.5 this morning. It may continue to move up and could close at 142 or 143. I will take it now at the best number I can. Both teams can and should score in this one. So, give me the OVER 141.5 (-110) as my favorite play in this game.

Big 12 Tournament: Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The Kansas Jayhawks (27-6) face the Texas Tech Red Raiders (25-8) Saturday in the Big 12 Tournament Final. Tip-off from the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City is at 6 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at the Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The 6th-ranked Jayhawks have been impressive squashing the opposition in Kansas City so far. KU belted West Virginia in the quarters by an 87-63 win as 9.5-point favorites Thursday. They followed that up with an impressive victory against TCU, 75-62, in the semifinals.

The 14th-ranked Red Raiders pounded Iowa State Thursday by a 72-41 before escaping against Oklahoma Friday in a 56-55 near-miss. The Under cashed in each game in the tourney so far for TTU.

These teams split the regular-season series, with the Red Raiders winning 75-67 Jan. 8 in Lubbock as 7-point ‘dogs as the OVER hit, before the Jayhawks won 94-91 in overtime Jan. 24 as the OVER again came in.

Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 73, Texas Tech 66

Money line

KANSAS (-135) is a good play in this decisive third matchup of the season. Both teams won on their home courts during the regular season. This will be a home game for all intents and purposes, with Allen Fieldhouse just a 35-to-40-minute drive to Kansas City.

Against the spread

KANSAS -1.5 (-120) is slightly cheaper, and all it has to do is win by a bucket. That should be do-able in this title game. The Red Raiders have been impressive at 5-0 ATS in the past five as an underdog, although they’re just 3-7 ATS in the past 10 neutral-site battles.

On the flip side, the Jayhawks have cashed in six of the past eight games as favorite, while going 6-1 ATS in the past seven following a straight-up victory. Back Kansas to cover and hoist the hardware.

Over/Under

The OVER 134.5 (-110) is the lean in this title game.

While the Under is 4-1 in the past five for Kansas, the Over is 9-3-1 in the past 13 for KU in neutral-site games, while going 9-3 in the past 12 against winning sides.

For Texas Tech, the Over has connected in nine of the previous 12 games against teams with a winning overall record, for which Kansas certainly qualifies.

Kansas at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Kansas at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks (12-1, 1-0 Big 12) and No. 25 Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-3, 0-1) tangle Saturday at 4 p.m. ET at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas. Below, we look at the Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Kansas leads the Big 12 in scoring at 83.3 points per game. The Jayhawks have rode strong 3-point shooting and rebounding to eight straight wins since losing to the Dayton Flyers Nov. 26. Over the eight wins, Kansas has shot 38.1% from distance while posting an average plus-10.0 on the boards. The Jayhawks had 15 offensive rebounds in a 64-63 triumph at Oklahoma State Tuesday.

The Red Raiders have allowed just 57.6 PPG: that ranks third in the conference and 10th in the nation. Texas Tech allowed just 51 in its last game but lost (51-47) at Iowa State on Wednesday. TTU shot just 38.8% from the floor in that loss after connecting on 50.5% of its field goals the previous four games.

Kansas at Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 72, Texas Tech 70

Money line

Kansas is a really good team, but figure this as a tough spot for a team playing its second straight game on the road. In a clash of styles between the fast Jayhawks and methodical Raiders, look for the home five to have a legitimate shot at an outright win when this contest rolls down to triple-zeroes on the clock.

The interior TTU defense and Red Raider rebounding are big keys to the value on TEXAS TECH (+155).

Against the spread

Last season, Kansas beat Texas Tech by 6 at home and by 1 in Lubbock. Figure the Jayhawks suffering some fatigue and running into tough inside defense that grinds this score down to a close shave.

The sample isn’t great because of TTU’s relatively easy schedule so far, but analytic metrics are high on the Raiders’ home-court advantage.

BACK TEXAS TECH +4.5 (-120).

Over/Under

The number here looks solid, perhaps with just a slight lean toward the Over. PASS.

  • Over/Under: 133.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Kansas at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. Kansas has won six straight games, including a 95-50 beatdown of Nebraska Omaha as a 24.5-point favorite Dec. 11. Outside of the previous win, the Jayhawks haven’t exactly blown by competition and are just 2-4 ATS this year.
  2. Texas Tech has its own four-game win streak going, winning three by double-digits, but the Red Raiders failed to cover as 28-point home favorites in a 77-57 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi Dec. 12.
  3. Since head coach Chris Beard took the Texas Tech gig in 2016-17, the Red Raiders are 2-6 straight up and 4-4 ATS against Kansas. The Jayhawks were 2-0 against the Red Raiders last season, but they covered the spread in only one of the two games.

Kansas at Texas Tech: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kansas 67, Texas Tech 63

Money line (ML)

This is the squarest play ever—backing a nationally popular, blue blood Kansas basketball program against an up and coming Texas Tech team, but GIMME KANSAS (+135) for three-fourths of a unit.

According to Pregame.com, this is a Pros vs. Joes game with 57% of the cash on Texas Tech but 53% of the bets placed are on Kansas. So I’m rolling with the public, aka, the people that make bookmakers rich.

Texas Tech has a higher net efficiency rating but the Red Raiders have played a cupcake schedule (ranked 210th in the nation). Kansas’ only loss is to No. 1 Gonzaga, and the Jayhawks have wins over top-10 (at the time) ranked teams in Kentucky and Creighton.

Against the spread (ATS)

TAKE KANSAS +3 (-110) for 1.25 units. It’s just a wiser strategy long-term to insure a money line wager with a full possession, especially in a rivalry game, if you can get it.

Texas Tech is incorporating new pieces—transfers G Mac McClung and F Marcus Santos-Silva—who have yet to play in this atmosphere whereas Kansas has three upperclassmen in its lineup.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS ON THE TOTAL with a slight lean on the Under 133.5 (-110). Texas Tech has one of the slower paces in the country and with this being a conference game, I think the possession by possession intensity helps the Under.

However, the Over has cashed in seven of the last eight meetings and I don’t have a strong enough handicap of the total to step in front of that trend.
