The Kansas City Chiefs (2-3) and Washington Football Team (2-3) meet Sunday in Week 6 for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at FedEx Field. Below, we look at the Chiefs vs. Washington odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.
In quite a turnaround from their AFC Championship Game win over the Buffalo Bills last season, the Chiefs were smoked at home 38-20 by the Bills in Week 5’s Sunday Night Football game. Kansas City, which was a 2.5-point favorites, suffered a third loss in the last four games.
The defense was mostly at fault, allowing 30 or more points for a fourth consecutive game and yielding 436 total yards (315 passing, 121 rushing). K.C. led 10-7 with 10 minutes to go in the second quarter but was outscored 17-3 before halftime. The Chiefs never threatened the rest of the way and lost RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire to a knee injury in the second half.
Washington lost at home, 33-22, to the New Orleans Saints in Week 5. Washington, which was a 2.5-point underdog, led 13-7 early in the second quarter, but the defense gave up 2 touchdowns before the half, including a 49-yard Hail Mary as time expired to fall behind 20-13.
Washington, which couldn’t get any closer than a 20-16 deficit, outgained New Orleans 373 to 369 yards and had more first downs (26 to 18) in the loss. QB Taylor Heinicke finished with 248 passing yards with 0 TDs and 2 interceptions.
