Steelers release Kam Kelly, add Marcus Allen to roster

The Steelers have made some roster moves this week.

In the wake of recent events, the Pittsburgh Steelers have forced to make some roster moves. The first more was to release safety Kameron Kelly in light of his recent arrest. Kelly had been on the 53-man roster and so the Steelers had to make a corresponding roster move. According to multiple sources, the Steelers have promoted safety Marcus Allen to the roster to fill Kelly’s spot.

Allen has spent all of the 2019 season on the practice squad. Considering the depth Pittsburgh has at safety, don’t be shocked if Allen dresses and plays a fairly heavy role on special teams. This week the Steelers go on road to take on the New York Jets.

Steelers safety Kameron Kelly arrested on multiple charges

Kameron Kelly had an altercation at a local bar leading to an arrest.

Another member of Pittsburgh Steelers finds themselves in hot water. According to multiple reports including ESPN report Brooke Pryor, safety Kameron Kelly was arrested on Thursday night on one count of resisting arrest and two counts of terroristic threats.

This arrest comes just days before the Steelers travel to take on the New York Jets this week. Kelly had been the team’s primary backup safety behind Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds.

Kelly has played 131 snaps on defense so far this season. His impact has been more on special teams where he’s played about 47 percent of the special teams reps. The team has released Kelly and promoted Marcus Allen on the 53-man roster.
