Former UNC running back Kamarro Edmonds transfers to ECU

Former UNC football running back Kamarro Edmonds found a new home as he committed to ECU out of the transfer portal.

The UNC football program saw their fair share of departures to the transfer portal after a disappointing 2021 season. Losing players did open up some opportunities for some players and that was especially true at the running back position.

One player that opted to enter the portal was running back [autotag]Kamarro Edmonds[/autotag].

The former four-star running back out of Havelock, North Carolina pledged his commitment to UNC in 2020 as part of the 2021 class. He spent just the one season at UNC before entering the portal. And now he has a new home.

Edmonds officially committed to ECU on Thursday, taking the next step in his college career.

In his one year at UNC, Edmonds opted to use a redshirt season and then saw action in the Spring game this year. But shortly after that, he made the decision to enter the portal and find a new opportunity.

Edmonds now joins a program that features 1,000-yard rusher, Keaton Mitchell as well as Rahjai Harris.

UNC running back Kamarro Edmonds enters transfer portal

UNC football running back Kamarro Edmonds has officially entered the transfer portal and will leave the program.

A day after Mack Brown and the UNC football program added to their secondary with a former Ohio State defensive back, the team is losing a running back to the transfer portal.

On Tuesday, running back[autotag] Kamarro Edmonds[/autotag] announced he was entering the transfer portal, leaving the UNC program. The move comes just a few weeks after the Tar Heels hosted their Spring football game and shut things down until the Summer in terms of practices.

The 5-foot-11.5, 235-pound North Carolina native did not see the field last season for UNC and earned a redshirt giving him four years of eligibility for his new home.

While the loss of Edmonds does hurt, the Tar Heels have a lot of depth at the running back position. They bring back British Brooks, D.J. Jones, Caleb Hood and Elijah Green while welcoming in George Pettaway and Omarion Hampton.
