Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel provides injury update for the Vols ahead of playing Kent State on Saturday.

Josh Heupel kicked off game week on Monday for No. 9 Tennessee (2-0) in preparation for a matchup against Kent State (0-2).

Heupel met with media and provided an injury update for three Vols: Linebacker Kalib Perry, running back Cameron Seldon and defensive back Jakobe Thomas.

“We will see as the week goes on, but I anticipate all those guys being available for us this week,” Heupel said.

Perry has appeared in one game for the Vols this season and has not recorded any statistics. Thomas appeared in both contests for Tennessee through two weeks, recording five tackles, one tackle for a loss and one pass deflection.

In one game this season, Seldon has totaled 47 rushing yards on seven attempts, one reception for -2 receiving yards and one kick return for 35 yards.

Kickoff for Tennessee’s Week 3 contest versus Kent State is slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT (SEC Network).

Tennessee practiced for the third time during fall training camp on Friday at Haslam Field in preparation for the upcoming season.

Friday’s practice was the first in shells for Tennessee during fall training camp.

The Vols will kick off its season in 29 days on Sept. 2 versus Virginia at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Kickoff between Tennessee and the Cavaliers is slated for noon EDT and will be televised by ABC.

Following Friday’s practice at Haslam Field, Tennessee student-athletes Dominic Bailey, Arion Carter, Elijah Herring, Joshua Josephs and Kalib Perry met with media. Their media availability can be watched below.

The football early signing period is taking place Dec. 15-17 for the 2022 recruiting class.

Kalib Perry has signed with Tennessee.

The 2022 signing period is the first full class under head coach Josh Heupel.

The Vols were 7-5 (4-4 SEC) in 2021 under Heupel. Tennessee will play in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl against Purdue on Dec. 30 (3 p.m. EST, ESPN).

Kalib Perry commits to Tennessee

Kalib Perry commits to Tennessee.

2022 linebacker prospect Kalib Perry committed to Tennessee and first-year head coach Josh Heupel on Saturday.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker is from Great Crossing High School in Georgetown, Kentucky.

The Vols offered a scholarship to Perry on June 1 after attending a camp at Tennessee. Perry officially visited the University of Tennessee on June 25.

Perry has Power Five offers from Tennessee, Purdue, Boston College, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia. His final four teams were Tennessee, Purdue, Cincinnati and Kentucky.

The football early signing period takes place Dec. 15-17 for the 2022 recruiting class.
