Freshman wide receiver Kaemen Marley has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Marley did not record any statistics during the 2021 season.

He came to Tennessee from Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur, North Carolina.

Marley signed with the Vols during the early signing period in Dec. 2020. He signed with Tennessee’s previous coaching staff before Josh Heupel was hired as head coach Jan. 27, 2021.

“That was just how he was recruited,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said of Marley following Wednesday’s practice. “Feel like that’s a natural starting point for him. He’s a guy that is ultra talented. We’ll find out his skill sets, where he feels comfortable as the progression goes, and how we can get him on the field the fastest.”

Fab Four: Selecting Tennessee football’s Mount Rushmore of all-time recruits

Tennessee commit Kaemen Marley is a do-it-all athlete

Tennessee commit Kaemen Marley is a do-it-all athlete.

Tennessee football received more good news on Wednesday, when 4-star athlete Kaemen Marley announced his commitment to the Vols as part of the fast-growing and talent-packed 2021 recruiting class.

Marley rates as the nation’s No. 5 athlete in the 247Sports Composite, and the Ramseur, North Carolina product has good size at 6-foot-2, 206-pounds.

The rising senior at Eastern Randolph High School has been a do-it-all player throughout his high school career, showing his skill set in several different positions and attracting offers from the likes of Florida, Ohio State, Texas A&M, North Carolina and others.

Marley has played wide receiver, defensive back, running back and even punter in high school. Although his primary recruiter at Tennessee is running backs coach Jay Graham, it is likely Marley will be in either the wide receivers or defensive backs room when he arrives on campus.

At wide receiver, Marley is certainly not a polished product. The majority of his production in high school comes from go routes where Marley is able to use his superior speed and athleticism to go up and get the football.

At defensive back, Marley is a ballhawk, a trait that Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt loves. He has an eye for tracking the ball and body awareness that allows him to make plays in the secondary or on offense. His high school tape also includes several plays showing his blocking on offense, which can be rare at this level.

Tennessee is getting a swiss-army knife in Kaemen Marley. While he may be a natural fit at safety, this coaching staff is no stranger to experimenting in moving players to different positions based on depth needs. Whatever position Marley plays in Knoxville, he has the skill set to succeed.

Tennessee offers 2021 4-star athlete

Tennessee offers 2021 4-star athlete.

Highly-regarded athlete prospect Kaemen Marley has added Tennessee to his list of SEC offers.

Out of Ramseur, N.C., Marley plays a multitude of different positions for Eastern Randolph High School, including wide receiver, running back, quarterback and defensive back.

Tennessee is offer No. 15 for Marley, who rates as a 4-star prospect and No. 10 athlete in the 2021 class on the 247Sports Composite.

Florida, Kentucky, Texas A&M and South Carolina are the other SEC schools who have offered Marley, along with programs such as Ohio State, North Carolina State and North Carolina.

At 6-foot-2, 206-pounds, Marley fits the type of player Jeremy Pruitt looks for at the high school level. Whether Marley would play offense or defense, he has experience at both, and Pruitt particularly appreciates defensive backs with extensive experience handling the football.

Only a high school junior, Marley still has another year of high school football left to play before he signs for a school.
