I don’t think he meant any harm by posting it. But the comment that Joe Tsai made which I feel like bothered a lot of people was like, ‘He has more work to do.’ Like, what does that mean? Kendrick Perkins clearly agrees with LeBron, and the ESPN analyst appreciates his decision to speak out on this matter. However, Big Perk is adamant that this statement from James just won’t cut it (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter): “I appreciate LeBron James speaking out on his platform and using his voice,” Perkins said. “But that’s just a step. When you think about Lebron James, he’s one of the most powerful, iconic, individuals in the world. Not just in the sports world — in the world. “So, if he really want to go forward with this, and he really want to take action, that’s just the first step. Now, make those phone calls. As it turned out, the redemptive arc that Tsai had imagined for his star had devolved into what the owner had felt was a repetitive exercise in Irving’s betrayal of good faith, sources said. For nearly a week, Tsai kept extending the clock to give Kyrie Irving a chance to get this right for himself, the franchise and the Jewish community — and Irving never returned a single of his text messages, sources said. Almost a week later, Irving had shown no inclination to deliver an apology, nor a disassociation of the movie’s contents – nor a willingness to answer “No,” when asked if he held antisemitic beliefs.

One more on Kyrie situation – Players become really isolated as their star rises, less and less real information gets to them. Too many yes-men, very few rules that apply to them. Bitterness from living their life under a microscope. It’s sad to see what grows from it. (Pt 2) – 6:45 AM

Why did Nets suspend Kyrie, not the NBA, you wonder? Because as soon as he’s traded, Irving will be allowed to play. Had NBA did it, he must serve whole suspension.
Same applies to Udoka. Coaching Nets will end year suspension.

Story on Kyrie Irving’s latest comments today is up as Adam Silver seeks a meeting with him: theathletic.com/3759694/2022/1…3:44 PM

More on this storyline

For several agonizing days, the pleas had grown into a crescendo for Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai to punish star guard Kyrie Irving. The most important and invested voices in his orbit — including NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Nets general manager Sean Marks – had sided with a broad swath of the public in believing that Irving’s refusal to condemn the contents of an antisemitic film he shared to his social media had left the Nets no choice but to suspend him, sources told ESPN. -via ESPN / November 4, 2022
Against the backdrop of calls for swift action, sources said Tsai had resisted and insisted on taking time to educate Irving on the horrors of antisemitism. He’d enlisted the counsel of the Anti-Defamation League, watched the full three and a half hours of the hate-filled movie Irving had shared, “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America” — complete with its Holocaust denialism and quoting of antisemites such as Adolf Hitler and Henry Ford – and researched the Black Hebrew Israelite movement, whose beliefs Irving frequently references in public settings. -via ESPN / November 4, 2022
After a combative news conference on Saturday night when Irving refused to “stand down,” there had emerged stronger calls within Nets’ leadership and the commissioner’s office to level a suspension, sources said. For the franchise and league, embarrassment grew and patience waned. For most, this had portrayed a familiar Irving, who was drafted No. 1 overall in 2011 – defiant, undeterred and crusading with misinformation. -via ESPN / November 4, 2022

Nets’ management, league office pushed Joe Tsai to be more punitive on Kyrie Irving?

Irving was given multiple chances to apologize for the action, but he didn’t do so until after the suspension. “This is amid, I think both Nets’ management and the league office pushing Joe Tsai to be more punitive,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “A …

Irving was given multiple chances to apologize for the action, but he didn’t do so until after the suspension.  “This is amid, I think both Nets’ management and the league office pushing Joe Tsai to be more punitive,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “A suspension, a punishment. As the days wore on and Kyrie Irving had a chance on Saturday night and then again yesterday publicly with the media to disavow and condemn the contents of that movie, to say that he was not antisemitic. Those two public appearances and then a joint statement with the Nets a couple of days ago that still fell short.”

Random question that popped into my head. If Brooklyn does hire Ime Udoka, will the Celtics do a “Thank You, Ime.” video when the Nets play in Boston? Or just acknowledge a previously suspended coach who took them to the Finals during his one season in any tangible way? AK – 12:00 PM

Story from yesterday’s craziness is up. The Nets know their contention window is rapidly closing. It’s why Steve Nash is gone, Ime Udoka is reportedly in, optics aside. On a wild three years and the attempt to capitalize despite more of it in year four : theathletic.com/3754437/2022/1…10:58 AM

What would Ime Udoka be stepping into with the Nets?
Source: “The basketball part is tough enough. When you add the Kyrie drama — and there always seems to be one with him — how do you ever get to the point where you can just focus on the game?”

Another day, another scandal for the Nets, from Kyrie Irving’s tweet to his defiant objection to accountability, to seemingly Ime Udoka’s impending arrival. This, too, will quiet down at some point. But the storm will not pass.

Sean Marks denied that Brooklyn has agreed to hire Ime Udoka as their next head coach.
But the GM did speak about the team’s sense of urgency and a thorough process to identify the right person for the job. clutchpoints.com/nets-news-sean…1:03 AM

More on this storyline

While Quin Snyder, the former Utah Jazz play-caller, had been widely mentioned as a potential candidate to replace Nash, there was no substantial contact about Snyder’s interest in the position, sources said. Marks wanted to hire Ime Udoka, in what may amount to Brooklyn’s final attempt at winning with Durant and Irving headlining this roster — and Marks orchestrating the franchise’s basketball operations. -via Yahoo! Sports / November 2, 2022
According to league sources, Udoka was suspended because of an improper relationship with a subordinate team employee. He was replaced by interim coach Joe Mazzulla. “His name got slandered and slaughtered and it was ‘He’ll probably never coach again,’ ” Marcus Smart said. “And a couple of months later, now he’s possibly going to be the coach of one of our biggest rivals? “It’s tough. It makes no sense. But we can’t control that. We have to control what we can, and I love the team here. I love the coaching staff. I love Joe.” -via Boston Globe / November 2, 2022
