Michigan football adds yet another high-profile transfer portal commitment

#Michigan is crushing it in the portal this cycle! #GoBlue

The rich just keep getting richer.

Michigan football has done better than anyone in the NCAA transfer portal thus far this cycle. It has reeled in 247Sports’ No. 1, No. 11 and No. 41 players: former Nebraska linebacker Ernest Hausmann, former Arizona State offensive lineman LaDarius Henderson and former Stanford OL Myles Hinton, respectively.

The Wolverines have continued to be aggressive, this time bringing in the No. 24 player in the country according to 247Sports’ transfer portal rankings. Formerly of Coastal Carolina, Josaiah Stewart is an edge rusher considered to be a four-star. He announced on Twitter on Sunday afternoon that he’s becoming Michigan’s fourth commitment this offseason via the transfer portal.

Stewart had 3.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss for the Chanticleers this past season. Michigan is ranked the No. 1 team in the country via the 247Sports transfer rankings, even before Stewart joined the fold. Stewart played linebacker for Coastal Carolina and is listed at 6-foot-2, 235-pounds. He’s a former high school teammate of Mike Sainristil at Everett (Massachusetts).

The Wolverines are looking to add a cornerback and a tight end via the portal.

Michigan has been solid when it comes to adding via the portal, particularly last year, when it brought in Rimington Trophy award-winner Olu Oluwatimi and former five-star Eyabi Okie.

Coastal Carolina LB Josaiah Stewart has USC in his top 3

Coastal Carolina LB Josaiah Stewart, who could give Alex Grinch a significant pass-rushing presence, has the #USC Trojans in his final three.

The USC Trojans are already hard at work to add talent to their roster for the 2023 season and beyond.

With the Cotton Bowl against Tulane coming up in a few weeks, the transfer portal is blossoming and the Trojans are a popular option among players.

One player who has the Trojans in his top three is Coastal Carolina LB Josaiah Stewart. He posted a tweet on Monday morning announcing his three schools, and the other two are Michigan and LSU.

With the Trojans’ defensive struggles coming to light toward the end of the year, they could definitely use more talent on that side of the ball, and Stewart would be an important get for defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, who knows he needs to produce substantial improvements in 2023 and prevent the rough ride USC endured on his side of the ball in the second half of the 2022 season.

In 2022, Stewart had 37 tackles with 3.5 sacks and one fumble while being an absolute force for the Chanticleers’ defense, so whichever program lands him will be getting an immediate impact player.

Stewart was also a first-team All-Sun Belt defense selection. He has been receiving plenty of interest on the portal, as displayed by the three powerhouses he is considering.

Stewart can play linebacker or defensive end, and there are a lot of things he can do with the Trojans if he decides to come to Southern California.

Stewart’s decision should come soon, so we will keep an eye out and see if he decides to join Lincoln Riley.

Michigan football a finalist for two big targets

Hope we land these guys!

Michigan football is off to a hot start recruiting the 2024 class. The Wolverines have four commitments and three of those players are four-star commits based on the 247 composite.

The Wolverines are still waiting on 2023 recruits to make their decisions, but Michigan has a number of 2024 recruits it is targeting. One of those 2024 targets is four-star defensive back Omillio Agard.

Agard is a cornerback from Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania). The composite lists him as the 22nd-ranked cornerback in the class of 2024. The 5-foot-10 recruit announced his top five on Monday afternoon. Michigan is in his top five along with Alabama, Clemson, Penn State and Tennessee.

Here is what Agard told On3:

“Michigan is one of the most intriguing schools,” Agard said. “They have the best academics while having the best football I can play. I can really see myself blossoming as a star in Ann Arbor. I love coach Clink, and coach Harbaugh is one of the coolest coaches!”

He plans to make his destination known this summer.

Transfer portal update:

The Wolverines appear to be active in the transfer portal.

Michigan has already landed Arizona State transfer LaDarius Henderson and the maize and blue have a chance to add a lineman on defense.

Coastal Carolina edge defender Josaiah Stewart announced a top three on Monday. The Wolverines are being considered along with LSU and USC.

Stewart has two years of eligibility remaining, and he has put together some excellent stats.

He broke Coastal Carolina’s single-season sack record during his freshman season with 12.5 sacks and was voted as a freshman All-American. This past year he totaled 36 tackles, 10 TFL and 3.5 sacks.

Tigers offer talented edge rusher in the transfer portal

Josaiah Stewart could be taking his talents to Baton Rouge after a massively productive two seasons at Coastal Carolina.

In the new transfer portal era, you have the opportunity to land players who saw things not work out at their previous schools for one reason or another. However, you also have some players coming off massive years at smaller programs looking for a more significant challenge.

[autotag]Josaiah Stewart[/autotag], a talented edge rusher from Coastal Carolina who entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, falls squarely into the latter category. The sophomore and former three-star recruit is coming off an incredible two-year campaign in Conway with the Chanticleers, and he picked up an offer from LSU on Friday.

In two seasons, the Everett, Massachusetts, (by way of the Bronx) product totaled 80 tackles, 16 sacks and four forced fumbles. He received multiple all-conference and national all-freshman honors last season in addition to being named the Sun Belt Defensive Lineman of the Year.

However, after totaling 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles as a true freshman in 2021, he saw his production drop off quite a bit this season. He’s looking for a change of scenery to help get back to his previous production, and an LSU team that will likely lose [autotag]BJ Ojulari[/autotag] and [autotag]Ali Gaye[/autotag], in addition to [autotag]Desmond Little[/autotag] in the transfer portal, could be a great fit.
