Kentucky women’s basketball loses two players to injury

Dominika Paurova and Jordan Obi are out indefinitely for Kentucky women’s basketball.

Two of Kentucky’s new addition to the women’s basketball team were Dominika Paurova and Jordan Obi. They were part of a group of exciting additions to this year’s team by new coach Kenny Brooks. However, both players are dealing with injuries that will sideline them indefinitely.

Paurova is a transfer from Oregon State just entering her Sophomore season. She averaged 7.3 points per game in the NCAA Tournament last season, and is a very good three-point shooter. She injured her knee playing for the Czech Republic on July 14th.

Obi transferred to Kentucky from Penn where she was All-Ivy League all three seasons. She averaged nearly 14 points per game in her time there. Specifics weren’t given on her injury, but it was also a “lower leg injury.”

Both players are out indefinitely with no further details given. Hopefully they’re ready to go when the season begins, as both are very good players who make the Wildcats better.

Penn transfer Jordan Obi has committed to Kentucky women’s basketball

Former Penn forward Jordan Obi has committed to Kenny Brooks and Kentucky women’s basketball.

Just in case Wildcats fans had forgotten, new Kentucky women’s basketball coach Kenny Brooks has also been very good at getting quality players to Lexington. On Thursday, he added another in Penn transfer Jordan Obi.

Much of the news lately has been about men’s team coach Mark Pope and the roster he’s been putting together. However, the women’s team, led by Brooks, is still working too.

Jordan Obi has spent the last three seasons as a starting forward for the Penn Quakers of the Ivy League. She was All-Ivy all three seasons. Her career averages are 13.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, and she made 38% of her three-pointers.

Brooks had this to say about the new member of the team:

I’m very excited about the addition of Jordan to our BBN family. Her experience and basketball ability will be valuable to our team in many ways. She’s a versatile player and will offer leadership from the start.

Obi joins a talented list of transfers and decommits that have joined Coach Brooks and the Wildcats. There is plenty to be excited about for fans of the women’s team at Kentucky too.
