Browns sign C Jordan Meredith to practice squad, release Brock Hoffman

The Browns have swapped out one center for another on their practice squad, signing Jordan Meredith and releasing Brock Hoffman

The Cleveland Browns have been busy out of their bye week. First, they designated two of their original 53-man players for return from Injured Reserve, and now they have made a move on their practice squad. According to The OBR’s Brad Stainbrook, the Browns have swapped out one practice squad center for another, signing Jordan Meredith and releasing Brock Hoffman.

Hoffman was on Cleveland’s roster throughout training camp, did not make their final roster, and then was signed to the practice squad after a strong preseason. Meredith, an undrafted free agent from the 2021 NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky, has spent time with the Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders over the past season and a half.

Raiders Oline suffers major blow as Denzelle Good heads to reserve/retired list

Big blow for Raiders OL as Denzelle Good placed on reserve/retired list

Easily the weakest position group on the Raiders has been their offensive line. The one potential boost they would receive was to come from Denzelle Good who was lost in the 2021 season opener to a torn ACL. He had returned to the lineup to start camp after signing a new restructured deal that reduced his salary basically in half. Not a week later, he’s gone again, possibly not to return.

Monday the Raiders placed Good on the reserve/retired list, thus ending his 2022 season before it started and perhaps his career.

Good had been a key offensive lineman for the Raiders for two full seasons in 2019 and 2020 both at guard and tackle. And he figured to step into the starting right guard spot this season.

Now the team must look to the competition between several other players for the job.

This offseason during Good’s absence, Lester Cotton Sr has taken most of the first team reps. It remains to be seen whether Cotton will continue taking those first team reps throughout camp knowing that Good will not be returning.

Others in the mix include rookie third round pick Dylan Parham, Jermaine Eluemunor, and Alex Bars. And, depending on what happens at right tackle, perhaps Alex Leatherwood as well.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders re-signed OL Jordan Meredith.

Raiders sign CB Isiah Brown, announce two other moves

Raiders makes three more roster moves on eve of training camp

For a second consecutive day the Raiders signed a former USFL player. Today they announced they have added Isiah “Ike” Brown ahead of the start to camp. This after adding WR Isaiah Zuber on Tuesday.

Brown recently played with the New Orleans Breakers where he had two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown.

The former undrafted free agent out of Florida International originally signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2020 before being placed on the reserve/retired list during training camp.

Along with the addition of Brown, the Raiders announced the release of veteran safety Dallin Leavitt and the waiving of guard Jordan Meredith.

Leavitt had announced his release earlier in the day on this instagram page, thanking the team with which he spent the past four seasons.

As the Raiders fill their offseason roster, they have added guard Jordan Meredith.

The former Western Kentucky Hilltopper signed with the Los Angeles Rams following the 2021 NFL Draft last May. He spent training camp with the team and was released with the final roster cuts.

The 6-3, 300-pounder made several All-Conference USA second teams in 2020 after his third season as a full-time starter at right guard. He had made the PFF All-Conference USA First team in 2019 as well.
