Jalen Hurts to wear mismatch cleats during Eagles game vs. Commanders in Week 16

Jalen Hurts to wear mismatch cleats during Eagles game vs. Commanders in Week 16

You can’t ban greatness, and on the heels of the NFL fining Jalen Hurts for wearing mismatch cleats against the Steelers in Week 15, the Eagles star quarterback is doing it again.

Knowing full well that Jordan Brand would cover the fine, Hurts again, donned the mismatched Kelly Green and Midnight Green Jordan cleats for the game against the Commanders in Washington.

The NFL fined Hurts $5,628 for violating the league’s uniform and equipment rules in Sunday’s win over Pittsburgh.

Officially, Hurts was fined for wearing a shoe color other than one of the Eagles’ “Constitutional team colors.”

Nick DePaula reported that Hurts won’t be paying that fine or this week’s financial punishment. Jordan Brand will ensure their star quarterback keeps his money, similar to a move they made with Michael Jordan 40 years ago.

Earlier in the season, Hurts turned heads when he was forced to wear one white Jordan and another Green Jordan cleat after having his foot stepped on and not wanting to miss a play.

The Eagles have a Kelly Green and Midnight Green look, but Jalen Hurts violated an NFL rule by debuting two cleats in the 27-13 win over the Steelers.

Last Sunday, Hurts decided to wear mismatch cleats, and the league fined Philadelphia’s star quarterback close to $6,000.

As Nick DePaula reports, Hurts won’t be paying that fine. Jordan Brand will ensure their star quarterback keeps his money, similar to a move they made with Michael Jordan 40 years ago.

Jared McCain signs endorsement deal with Jordan Brand

Former Duke basketball star Jared McCain was one of four NBA rookies announced as Jordan Brand athletes on Saturday.

[autotag]Jared McCain[/autotag], the former Duke basketball player taken in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft, announced his partnership with the Jordan Brand on Saturday.

Jordan, one of the most famous shoe companies in sports, revealed its rookie class of endorsement deals to start the weekend. McCain, now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, joined Dalton Knecht, Stephon Castle, and Ja’Kobe Walter among the first-year players who signed with the brand.

McCain averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals in his only year as a Blue Devil, but made his biggest impact as a 3-point weapon and an explosive scorer. He made 41.4% of his attempts from long range and scored at least 30 points in three different games, including twice in the NCAA Tournament.

He dropped 30 on James Madison in the second round before tying a school postseason record with 32 points against NC State in the Elite Eight. He made 16 of his 32 triples over the four-game tournament run.

Philadelphia took McCain with the 16th overall pick in June.

McCain played eight total minutes in his first two regular-season games with the 76ers, scoring four points and pulling down two rebounds in his debut against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

He averaged 12.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in five preseason games, and he reportedly caught the Philadelphia coaching staff’s attention during offseason work.

Zion and Zachariah Branch sign exclusive Jordan Brand NIL deal

The Branch brothers are making history at USC off the field.

The Jordan Brand has signed USC football brothers Zion and Zachariah Branch to NIL contracts ahead of the 2024 season. This makes them the first college football players to ever sign with the Jordan brand in history.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report the partnership news on Monday.

Zachariah, a wide receiver, and Zion, a safety, are both entering their sophomore seasons with the Trojans.

Zachariah Branch is a sophomore wide receiver and return specialist. He had 390 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns last season, becoming USC’s first-ever true freshman First Team All-American as a returner.

Zion Branch is a redshirt sophomore safety. He recorded 22 tackles, including for a loss and one forced fumble, in nine games in 2023.

The Branch brothers join Jordan Brand’s football roster that includes Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys, Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers, and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Represented by Excel Sports Management, the Branch brothers have previously partnered with brands such as C4 Energy, Gillette and Honey Stinger.

The UNC football program will take the field in style this season with a special Air Jordan 3.

Being an athlete at the University of North Carolina certainly has its perks, especially with Jordan Brand being a sponsor.

Over the years we have seen athletes show off some awesome player-exclusive shoes from Jordan Brand decked out in UNC colors. And as the football program is getting ready for the upcoming season, they have released photos of their newest player-exclusive shoe.

The classic Air Jordan 3 shoe gets decked out in Carolina Blue, white, and the iconic elephant print on the shoe. Check out a video the football program posted on social media on Monday, showcasing the shoe that they will sport this upcoming season.

The Tar Heels will sport these on the field at some point this season, adding some style to their uniform. With Carolina Blue being showcased on the shoe, it will match any of their uniform combinations they will wear for the upcoming season.

Jayson Tatum opens up about how spilled wine opened Jordan Brand doors

Sometimes, moments that might ruin an important path in one’s career can have the opposite effect instead.

Sometimes, moments that might ruin an important path in one’s career can have the opposite effect instead, creating a bond due to the absurdity of a situation. And that is how star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum saw his first introduction to the G.O.A.T. himself, Michael Jeffrey Jordan, go.

The St. Louis native recently re-told the tale on a recent episode of the Wave Sports and Entertainment Original “7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero” podcast, shedding some light on how his meeting to join the Jordan Brand family nearly went sideways in a major way. Tatum somehow managed to knock a glass of red wine over, making a huge mess as he went to shake his Airness’ hand. “He let me live,” joked Tatum. “This was back in 2019 … in Paris.”

“That’s when I first got introduced with the brand and signed with him,” he continued. “We had dinner that night and I remember I was nervous as (expletive). I got there a little early before everybody else and I see him, his wife, Spike Lee, and they were all sitting at the table across the room.”

“I had just sat down like they probably (were) busy, I don’t want to interrupt them. My mom was like, ‘Yo, just go say what’s up, they invited you out here,’ and I’m like alright,” said Tatum, sharing how much he was sweating.

“So I get up, and I’m like, ‘Yo, Mike, what up?’ The wine glass … I just … knocked it over, and it broke … He was like, ‘Yo young fella, you’re alright, go sit back down, you’re good’ – but ever since then we’ve been locked in and that’s another person that I will text, I will call.”

And Tatum leaned into that connection, picking MJ’s brain ahead of the 2022 NBA Finals. “I was like, ‘Yo, how’s this going to be? What is it like being in the finals? What should I expect?’

“We talked for a long time, and he’s somebody that he’ll text me after games,” said JT. “So I got his name in my phone as Uncle Mike — that’s my man.”

UNC baseball gifted new pair of Air Jordan 11 lows

The UNC baseball program received a special package from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand.

As the North Carolina Tar Heels’ baseball program continues its run in Omaha at the College World Series, they will be doing so in style.

A day after the team beat Virginia on a walk-off single from outfielder Vance Honeycutt, they were gifted a present from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand.

The team all received a new pair of the Air Jordan 11 low “Space Jam” shoe that released on May 18th. The colorway was the latest to release for the Air Jordan 11 low, selling out on the SNKRS app with a price tag of $190.

Watch as the team opens up their special packages and sees the shoes for the first time:

Being an athlete at the University of North Carolina certainly has its perks with it being Jordan’s alma mater and Jordan Brand being a sponsor for athletics. While these are not player exclusives and were a general release, it was still pretty sweet for them to receive these from Jordan Brand.

The Tar Heels are set to face off against Tennessee on Sunday night as they look to move one step closer to the final series.

Rutgers women’s basketball’s Kiyomi McMiller on her NIL deal with the Jordan Brand

Kiyomi McMiller has an NIL deal with the Jordan Brand.

Last year, Kiyomi McMiller signed a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal with the Jordan Brand. The five-star athlete from New Jersey signed with Rutgers basketball this spring.

McMiller finished as the No. 27 recruit in the nation in the ESPN rankings. She picked Rutgers from an offer list that included Arizona State, Baylor, Kentucky, LSUMichigan and Ole Miss.

She is the highest-ranked recruit to commit to head coach [autotag]Coquese Washington[/autotag], who is entering her third season with the Scarlet Knights.

As for McMiller, her NIL deal with the biggest brand in basketball is certainly a big deal and puts her on not just a national stage but an international one.

And she made history with the deal, becoming the first high school athlete to sign an NIL deal with the Jordan Brand.

“I really got the deal by actually being watched by the brand a couple years before I was selected,” McMiller told Rutgers Wire.

“They watched my workouts and watched how I grew better as I got older. And they had just texted me through Instagram and told me that they wanted me to be a part of the brand and we just went from there.”

McMiller finished her senior season with Life Center Academy (Burlington, New Jersey) averaging 30.1 points per game.

She also had 6.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. In addition, McMiller averaged 2.8 steals per gam as the Warriors finished 12-16 on the season.

The 2024 NBA All-Star jerseys are here and fans (mostly) like the classic look

Jordan Brand designed the NBA All-Star Game jerseys and these are pretty good.

To celebrate the upcoming NBA All-Star Game, the league revealed the jerseys that the league’s top players will wear on the court.

Indiana will host the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend and Indianapolis has already installed a basketball court in its airport for the occasion, although fans unfortunately cannot play on the court. During the game, for the seventh year in a row, players will jerseys designed by Jordan Brand.

It is worth noting that the NBA has decided to switch back to East versus West for the format of the All-Star Game, and the jerseys reflect as much. Here is more from the NBA:

“In the return of the East vs. West format, the uniforms celebrate the league and rich basketball history of Indiana. The 2024 NBA All-Stars will also be outfitted in Jordan Brand old-school, Hoosier-inspired warm-ups.

Designed from the idea that basketball was raised in Indiana, the uniforms are rooted in a nostalgic, heritage look that feature a tonal twist on the classic red and blue uniforms with cream lettering. The pinstripes are inspired by the iconic Pacers uniforms in the late 1990s and early 2000s.”

You can take a look at the East (left) and West (right) jerseys below:

Some details to note include racing stripes under the words “All-Star” as an homage to Indianapolis and the Indy 500.

The sides of the shorts also have a logo with a large circle around it as a tribute to Monument Circle, which is there to represent the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Circle City.

Perhaps the best design element is the “ASG” ligature mark on the belt buckle, which draws from the “graphical origins” of the sport.

Of course, fans shared their thoughts about the look of these jerseys:
