Trojans in the NFL brought their A-games in Week 11

Tuli Tuipulotu and Amon-Ra St. Brown were the best of the best for USC in the NFL this past weekend. Trojans are showing out on the pro football stage.

On Saturday, the current USC team took care of business against Nebraska, holding on for a 28-20 victory. On Sunday, numerous former USC players showed out for their respective NFL teams. Let’s take a look at some of the top performances by Trojans in the NFL from Week 11.

Amon-Ra St. Brown

The Detroit Lions’ superstar wide receiver caught 11 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns in his team’s 52-6 blowout of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Talk about a monster day.

Tuli Tuipulotu

In a primetime showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals, the Los Angeles Chargers’ young defensive lineman was more than ready for the moment. Tuli Tuipulotu had 1.5 sacks of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in a 34-27 LA win.

Sam Darnold

After a few rough weeks, Darnold bounced back on Sunday. The Minnesota Vikings quarterback completed 20 of his 32 pass attempts for 246 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-13 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Jordan Addison

On the receiving end of one of Darnold’s TDs was Jordan Addison. The second year wideout caught three passes for 61 yards and a score in Minnesota’s win.

Drake London

It was a rough afternoon for the Atlanta Falcons, who suffered a 38-6 blowout loss to the Broncos in Denver. But London still had a solid day, catching three passes for 61 yards.

Jordan Addison injury vs. Titans: Latest news on Vikings WR

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison left Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans in the fourth quarter with cramping issues.

The Minnesota Vikings have had somewhat of a bounce-back game on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Quarterback Sam Darnold has made some big plays with his arm and legs, making several key scrambles to extend plays and keep the Vikings’ offense moving.

That offense has been running more smoothly than we’ve seen in weeks, and one of the key contributors to that has been wide receiver Jordan Addison. Unfortunately for the Vikings, Addison left the game in the fourth quarter with some cramping issues and will likely be out for the rest of the game.

Jordan Addison injury update

It’s unfortunate for the Vikings’ offense to have to operate without one of their key playmakers for the rest of the fourth quarter. According to the CBS broadcast crew, Addison is officially designated as questionable to return with cramps.

How long will Addison be out?

While Addison is being called questionable to return to the game, the Vikings are up 10 with less than 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Vikings’ defense has held up well, and gave the ball back to the offense. Minnesota will likely play it safe with Addison and keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the game.

On the positive side, cramps are a temporary issue, and Addison should be fine for next week’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Vikings wide receiver depth chart

With Addison on the sidelines, the Vikings will likely look more toward Jalen Nailor and Brandon Powell. Both receivers have already had their name called several times in the fourth quarter. Nailor just missed a touchdown catch, while Powell made a nice catch over the middle that was initially called incomplete but overturned after a challenge by head coach Kevin O’Connell.

Despite the early coverage by the Titans, the Vikings still found a way to break through in the first quarter.

The Minnesota Vikings knew they had their work cut out for them against a tough Titans defense. Despite the Titans’ early coverage, the Vikings still found a way to break through in the first quarter.

The Titans opened the scoring with a field goal, but the Vikings were the first to score a touchdown, courtesy of Jordan Addison.

The second-year wide receiver was able to find a hole in the coverage and then used his speed and vision to break off a 47-yard touchdown. The play would not have been possible if Sam Darnold had not stayed in the pocket and delivered a dart of a pass with the pocket collapsing.

The touchdown catch was the 13th of his career and helped him become move up the touchdown rankings within a player’s first two seasons. Leading that stat with 28 is former Viking wide receiver Randy Moss.

Trojans take center stage on Sunday Night Football

Sam Darnold and Michael Pittman were able to share the field on a very special USC Sunday night in the NFL.

On Sunday evening, the Indianapolis Colts battled the Minnesota Vikings in a nationally-televised NFL showdown. For USC football fans, it was an opportunity to watch several of their former stars in the spotlight. They took hold of the spotlight and didn’t let it go.

Former USC quarterback Sam Darnold had an impressive evening for the Vikings. He completed 28 of his 34 pass attempts for 290 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, leading Minnesota to a 21-13 win.

Perhaps Darnold’s most impressive play of the night was a touchdown he threw on the run. Under pressure by several Indianapolis defenders, Darnold rolled to his right and delivered a dime to fellow Trojan Jordan Addison, who hauled in a diving catch in the corner of the end zone.

Addison finished the game with five receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown. He also added a nine-yard carry on the ground.

Meanwhile for the Colts, fellow former USC wideout Michael Pittman Jr. had a relatively quiet night. The 2019 Biletnikoff Award finalist caught just one pass for 14 yards.

Darnold and Pittman were teammates for two seasons at USC. They connected on several big plays during their time together in Cardinal and Gold, perhaps none bigger than a deep ball down the sideline during the 2017 Pac-12 Championship Game against Stanford.

Jordan Addison’s dad has strong reaction to Sam Darnold interception

After throwing an interception early in the Vikings Sunday night game against the Colts, one player’s father had an interesting reaction.

Not much went right for the Minnesota Vikings in the first half of their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The offensive line struggled to protect quarterback Sam Darnold.

The offense itself struggled to get going against the Colts defense, and Darnold made several unforced errors, including an interception that drew the ire of none other than the father of Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison.

On Darnold’s first interception of the game, Addison was running a route across the middle of the field and appeared to have an easy catch for a modest gain at the least. Darnold seemingly didn’t see Addison open, and was flushed from the pocket, resulting in an interception in the end zone and a scoring opportunity gone by the wayside.

That sequence of events prompted a reaction on X (formerly Twitter) from Addison’s father, Rolando Addison, Sr., who likened Darnold to famed musician and entertainer—and blind man—Stevie Wonder.

While invoking Wonder’s name is objectively hilarious, it illustrates a larger concern: Darnold’s performance has started to decline from the standout performances he turned in to start the season. Lately, Darnold has been making costly errors and missing guys fairly consistently.

His errors didn’t cost the Vikings in their game against the Colts, but the team needs Darnold to clean up if they’re going to make a playoff run, which they looked capable of just a few short weeks ago.

Jordan Addison makes spectacular catch for Vikings against the Colts

Minnesota got itself on the board in the second half of Sunday Night Football.

Minnesota went into halftime down 7-0 against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. It wasn’t due to not being able to move the football, however. The Vikings did essentially what they wanted offensively but drives would stall. Sam Darnold threw an intersection inside the Colts’ red zone, then he had a controversial fumble returned for a score — Colts’ only points of the game.

But the first drive of the second half was a beauty. Darnd found Justin Jefferson several times, Aaron Jones had a couple of runs, and Darnold finished things off by finding Jordan Addison in the end zone for a score. Darnold was under pressure but gave Addison a chance, and the former USC receiver reeled it in with a one-hand snag.

Minnesota tied the game at 7-7, and the Vikings’ defense will have to continue to do its job to allow the Minnesota offense to continue rolling.

Vikings’ trade for Cam Robinson could be exactly what all sides need

In trading for now former Jacksonville Jaguars LT Cam Robinson, each side of the trade could be getting exactly what they need going forward

The Minnesota Vikings surprised many by pulling off a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars to address their sudden need for a left tackle. The deal has the Vikings trading away a 2026 fifth-round pick that can escalate to a fourth, depending on playing time.

In exchange, the Vikings get somewhat of a reclamation project in left tackle Cam Robinson, along with a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick – one that can go away depending on playing time.

The trade is a rare example of the kind of low-risk, high-reward deal that, if the season continues to go well for the Vikings, could wind up being great for every party involved. For the Jaguars’ part, they get a disgruntled player off their hands and get a day-three pick in 2026 in exchange – but will likely have to pay some of Robinson’s $10 million remaining salary to do so.

As for the Vikings, they get some immediate help at a sudden position of need. With starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw tearing his ACL and MCL in the Thursday night loss to the Rams, the Vikings suddenly had a huge hole to fill at a vital position.

Robinson hasn’t been great during his eight-year career with the Jaguars, but he has been serviceable – when he’s been in the lineup. That caveat has been the biggest rub on Robinson the past few years. Robinson hasn’t played a full season – whether it be due to injury, suspension, or benching – since 2020 and only once in his career.

Robinson’s benching last week with the Jaguars continued that trend into this season. That benching was—most likely—the final straw in the relationship between the teams and the impetus for this trade from the Jaguars’ end.

For Robinson, he gets a chance to rehab his image in the league’s eye for his next stop. In all likelihood, Robinson is little more than a rental for the Vikings for the remainder of the season, not a long-term option for the team.

Robinson is in the last year of the deal he signed with the Jaguars, and while Darrisaw won’t return this season, there’s little reason to believe he won’t be back to at or near his usual form for next season.

What Robinson gets is a chance to audition for 30 other teams – as he’s unlikely to return to the Jaguars in free agency – on a team that has exceeded expectations this season despite the two-game losing streak.

Robinson gets to be a lynchpin on an offensive line that protects one of the league’s leading passers in Sam Darnold, a good running back in Aaron Jones, and has weapons like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and soon the return of tight end T.J. Hockenson.

If Robinson can hold up on the offensive line, and the Vikings can make the playoffs with Robinson as their left tackle, he could see a lucrative free agency in his future. There are a number of concerns hovering around Robinson, but a good close to the season on a good team could erase many of them.

Jordan Addison posted a cryptic Instagram story seemingly about his lack of Vikings production

Is Jordan Addison unhappy with his role in the Vikings offense?

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison posted a cryptic Instagram story overnight that sure seemed to be about his role in the team’s offense.

The Instagram story in question featured a picture of Addison with the caption “free 3” on it, hinting that he wants the ball much more than he’s currently getting it in the Vikings offense.

Of course, Vikings superstar receiver Justin Jefferson gets a bulk of the targets in Minnesota’s offense. Addison has 231 yards and a touchdown this season on 14 catches compared to Jefferson’s 646 yards and five touchdowns on 41 catches, showing the gap between the two wideouts.

Addison’s role in the offense is roughly on the same level as receiver Jalen Nailor, who has 229 yards and three touchdowns on 14 catches.

The big difference is Addison has only played in five games this season because of injury compared to Jefferson and Nailor playing in seven.

We’re not sure exactly how deep Addison’s sentiment goes with his post, if he’s actually disgruntled with his role in the offense or if he’s just trying to hype his talents up compared to his 2024 stat line.

However, the second-year wideout’s role going forward with the Vikings is at least worth monitoring for the meantime.

Could this be the wildcard receiver the Steelers need?

Is Jordan Addison asking to be traded?

With just over a week until the NFL trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still on the hunt for an upgrade at wide receiver. Going all the way back to the start of NFL free agency, the Steelers have been linked to a multitude of receivers from Brandon Aiyuk all the way through to DeAndre Hopkins.

But maybe there is another receiver out there who wants to be traded that we haven’t talked about yet. Minnesota Vikings receiver Jordan Addison shared this post on his social media and there are a couple of ways you can read it.

Either way, this is Addison saying he’s not happy with his role on the Vikings offense. But is he asking for the football or is he asking to be traded to a team where he can be used more? On the season, Addison has only 14 receptions in five games. This is compared to last season when Addison came on strong as a rookie and finished with 70 receptions in 17 games that included 14 starts.

WATCH: Jordan Addison wastes no time scoring a TD for the Vikings

The second-year WR wasted no time making an immediate impact for the Vikings.

Since injuring his ankle in Week 1, Vikings’ wide receiver Jordan Addison returned to the field in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers. The talented second-year receiver wasted no time making an impact for Minnesota.

The Vikings got the ball right away and Sam Darnold led Minnesota right down the field and he capped it off by hitting Addison for a 29-yard touchdown.

Green Bay also went down the field on its first drive of the game before missing a field goal off the right upright. The Vikings would go back down the field on their second possession of the game, and Darnold would hit Josh Oliver for a one-yard score.

It makes Addison’s 11th career touchdown and the first of the season. He currently has one catch in the game for the Vikings.
